Anti-Islam Web Site Calls for Shooting at Egyptian Protesters

While the death toll in the Egyptian protests against its oppressive government has risen to over 100, one American-based web site has called for shooting at Egyptian protesters, then urges the Mubarak government to use tactics from Tienanmen Square, and even genocidal tactics from Indonesia.

In a disturbing development, R.E.A.L. has learned today that the anti-Islam “Jihad Watch” website has posted an article, titled  “A Whiff of Grapeshot” on January 28, 2011, calling for shooting at Egyptian protesters. The Jihad Watch article also urges Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak to use the same practices as Communist China totalitarians did in the Tienanmen Square massacre in 1982.  The infamous Tienanmen Square massacre against Chinese freedom activists resulted in estimates of between 400 and 3,000 killed in June 4, 1989.

In the January 28, 2011 posting  “A Whiff of Grapeshot” on JihadWatch.org, JW writer “Roland Shirk” makes the argument that if there are Muslim Brotherhood members within the Egyptian protesters that a “whiff of grapeshot” should be used to dispose of them.

  • Jihad Watch writer “Roland Shirk” states that: “That should prove enough to cripple Mubarak’s attempts to stay in power–which could only succeed through the ruthless willingness to show the mob a ‘whiff of grapeshot.’  I know it sounds terrible to say this, but if they are in league with the Muslim Brotherhood, the Egyptian mob deserves it.” (The term “whiff of grapeshot” refers to efforts by the French dictator Napoleon Bonaparte, while he was a Brigadier General during the French Revolution,  to shoot and kill Royalist opponents in the street on October 5, 1795. The future dictator had ordered soldiers to kill the Royalist rebels with cannons killing 300, which 19th century historian Thomas Carlyle called clearing the streets with a “whiff of grapeshot.”  Grapeshot was used in rifles as a series of large metal slugs to cause maximum damage to opponents.   It was used to kill American soldiers during the Revolutionary War.) (see also screen capture)

Other recent columns by “Roland Shirk” have been praised by the “racialist” Lawrence Auster who applauds this individual’s calls to end the right of any Muslims to immigrate to the United States.

The Jihad Watch website is run by SIOA co-leader Robert Spencer whose SIOA political activism has included protests at a planned mosque in Long Island and the planned Park Place Islamic Center in New York City.  He will be speaking on February 11 at a CPAC convention on those topics in Washington DC.

For the record, R.E.A.L has long objected to, protested against, and written many articles challenging the views of the Muslim Brotherhood and their political Islamist views that we believe are anti-democratic.  However, we can object to and disagree with the Muslim Brotherhood, while believing in human freedom, human dignity, and democracy.  We can see challenges to freedom without calling for tactics used by dictators, Communist totalitarians, and architects of genocide.

We urge Jihad Watch to retract this article calling for violence.

Choose Love, Not Hate – Love Wins.

Free People Must Reject Dictators

The continuing human struggle for freedom, human rights, and human dignity will not end at just one nation’s borders, or with one nationality, one race, one religion, one gender, or any one identity group.

Those who seek to stem this endless tide of human freedom are like those who think they can control the oceans.  For a time, one can try to restrain such natural forces, but inevitably the tide will turn, and those who reject our human freedoms will fall from power.

The real choice we have is whether we will be on the side of freedom – or not.  The idea that we can support human freedom, human rights, human dignity just some of the time – for some people like us or those we like – is the foundational LIE that tyrants and dictators have used throughout history.  Dictators and oppressors count on this lie, they depend on it, they create entire societies and tyrannies on this.  But as history has shown and will continue to ultimately show, “A Lie Cannot Live.”

The lie that only some people, because of their identity group or elite status, deserve freedom, rights, and dignity, while others are denied such rights, will continue to be proven to be as a lie again and again around the world.  In the racial segregation era of America, the lie of denying humanity to black Americans did not live.  In Nazi Germany, the lie of denying humanity to Jews through the Holocaust ultimately did not live.  But in too many parts of the world, similar lies continue to be propped up, defended, and excused.

We have seen our national leaders meet with and ignore the horrific human rights abuses and ignore the Laogai concentration camps in Communist China, while freedom is denied to the Chinese people, and people of all religions and beliefs are routinely tortured, kidnapped, and abused.  We have seen our national leaders offer to take Sudan off the list of terrorist nations, while its leaders accused of Genocide continue to rule and travel freely around a world that has not seen fit to act for justice in Sudan’s crimes against humanity.

But from time to time, people will stand up to the lies of dictatorship and oppression.  Millions have left and openly denounced the Communist Chinese Party.  White supremacists no longer can promote hatred and contempt of other races without public rejection.

The days are numbered for societies and ideologies based on the lie of denying human freedom, human rights, and human dignity.

For those who think we can pick and choose who does and who does not deserve these rights, dignity, and freedom, you are on the wrong side of history.

To American and Western leaders, you too need to decide which side of history you are on, when you meet with dictators and when you dignify the lie of oppressors and societies that reject the truth of universal human rights, human dignity, and human freedom.  To the American people and people around the world, whether it is in Tienanmen Square, the election protesters of Iran, or now in the streets of Tunis and Cairo, we must stand in solidarity with those who seek freedom.  It is no surprise that the Communist China totalitarian leaders seek to censor the Internet to avoid the Chinese people finding out about what is going on in Egypt.

January 2011 Egypt Protesters

The current popular uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt once again speak to how human freedom and rights will not be denied.  There is much to be seen on how such uprisings occur and we must condemn violence against others.  But to be consistent in challenging both societies and ideologies that seek to defy freedom, free people around the world must reject dictators and oppressors, no matter who they are, no matter what their identity group, and no matter what their rationale for dictatorship and oppression.

Dictators and Oppressors are dependent on the world’s silence about their lie that only some deserve human rights, human dignity, and freedom.  We must speak out consistently on this anywhere and everywhere.

A Lie Cannot Live.   Choose the Truth on Humanity and Its Universal Human Rights.

Choose Freedom, Choose Human Dignity, and Choose Human Rights.

Defiance Against Islamism Must Never Defend Dictators

As the Egyptian public has continued nationwide uprisings for freedom, jobs, and a better standard of life, too many freedom supporting people found it “awkward” to support the Egyptian people’s struggle for freedom.  On January 29, Reuters reported that “Egypt protests leave West in awkward position.”

The only thing “awkward” about this is the very idea that free people would find it “awkward” to support people anywhere around the world protesting for freedom.  That speaks volumes, and demands that we reflect on where we stand as people responsible for equality and liberty.

Free people must reject dictators – without question, without caveat, without reservation. But in too many parts of the world, too many free people are willing to view that dictatorship is not such a bad thing.

Egyptian Protester Rejects Hypocrisy (Photo: Getty) -- By The Way - Many Americans Also Reject Hypocrisy

The root of many of these arguments are the existence in Egypt of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood political group, which promotes a political Islamist, pro-Violent Extemism view.   The fear of some of these who are reticent to back the Egyptian public in their uprising for freedom is that it will somehow empower the Muslim Brotherhood political leaders (who reportedly have had minimal role in the uprising), or that backing the Egyptian public will undermine counterterrorism agreements or treaties on Israel.

I feel sorry for those people who misunderstand the point of freedom.  Freedom is not about how selfish and self-centered we can be.  Freedom is not about how secure we can be or how our foreign policy interests can be best served.  Freedom is about giving everyone a chance and voice in their own destiny.

January 2011 Egypt Protesters

On Saturday night, January 29, I watched in shock as Egyptian Christian broadcaster Michael Youssef spoke during CNN’s global broadcast about how the Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak was really not that bad (compared to Nasser), how the Egyptian people’s standard of living had somehow “improved” under Mubarak.  He also stated how the protesters were really lucky that Mubarak was letting them speak out in public as they are doing (after the oppressive Egyptian police had fled).  The CNN broadcast studio is in Atlanta, and Michael Youssef lives in Atlanta; I am sure that was a major factor in having him on CNN on Saturday night.  But I will tell you I have not seen his views as being representative of the Egyptian Christian Copts around the world.  I have shared the struggle with Egyptian Christian Copts who have suffered mightily under the Egyptian dictator Mubarak.  I have joined Egyptian Copts at protests at the White House when Mubarak has visited in every type of weather.  I have prayed with Egyptian Copts in Washington DC for release of their people from oppression and abuse in Egypt.  I will tell you one thing – most of Egyptian Copt diaspora does not think life has “improved” under the dictator Mubarak, no matter what Michael Youssef tells CNN.  On Michael Youssef’s website, much of it is dedicated to his opposition to Islam, “Muslim Zealots,” and “Islam vs. Christianity.”  In his other public statements, Michael Youssef has sought to object to all of Islam.   On CNN on January 29, he dismissed the Egyptian protesters by telling the world that “democracy is a Western idea.”  If Michael Youssef believes this, then what type of democratic rights have we been fighting for Christian Copts in Egypt?

Salon reported on another figure, SIOA leader Pamela Geller, who was praising the “good news” that the Egyptian police force for rounding up and arresting protesters from the Muslim Brotherhood, and who writes that “Mubarak has been a US ally for decades.” Pamela Geller has been the primary activist behind the continuing protests against the Park Place Islamic Center in New York City.  A similar argument was made by Israel National News who reported in an article “US Wastes Chance to Support Mubarak” that “The U.S.seems to have partially abandoned its long-time Arab ally, with Secretary of State Hilary Clinton telling the Mubarak government it must implement democratic reforms and allow peaceful protests.”   Since when do Americans cheer when any protesters are arrested by an oppressive regime?  Since when did free people decide that “democratic reforms” and “peaceful protests” are a BAD thing?

These ugly fractures behind claims of supporting freedom versus actual support for freedom demonstrates a hypocrisy that must not go unchallenged.

A significant element in this hypocrisy is how some have hijacked the defiance against political Islamist extremists as a challenge against all of Islam and all Muslims. While there is not space to address this very important and complex subject justice in this posting, those who have chosen to attack all of Islam and all of its diverse followers as a monolithic entity has been a key mistake and misstep in political debate on this topic.   Moreover, objecting to the Islamist extreme views and ideologies is no more anti-Islam than objecting to Dominionist Christian extreme political views and ideologies would be anti-Christian.  Many of those objecting to Islamist views are Muslims.  Many of those, like myself, who object to Dominionist Christian views are Christians.  Many human beings can stand solidly behind both our religion and human freedom for all.

As free people, we can respect pluralism for diverse religions and beliefs, while challenging those who would use religious views as a rationalization to justify denying human rights to others based on their different religion, race, nationality, gender, or other identity.  That was the initial intent behind most of those who challenged the political Islamist views.  However, the SIOA and other anti-Islam organizations and their leaders have sought to reframe that human rights debate into a debate that is anti-Islam and anti-Muslim.

Therefore, from the anti-Islam groups’ perspective, any activity that could conceivably allow a political Islamist group to gain power must be wrong, even if millions of other non-Islamists gain freedom.  This Mutually Assured Destruction type of thinking is the root behind those who are most wary of the Egyptian protests today.

With freedom, we are also free to disagree and protest against groups whose views we object to.  In my own case, that has included my own protests and my many articles challenging the views of the Muslim Brotherhood and their political Islamist views that I believe are anti-democratic.  Unlike Pamela Geller, my defense of democracy and freedom does not call for cheers of “good news” when Egyptian protesters are rounded up by the oppressive Egyptian police force.  I can object to and disagree with the Muslim Brotherhood, while believing in human freedom, human dignity, and democracy.

To those who have worried about a Muslim Brotherhood takeover in Egypt as a result of the current protests, well-known anti-Violent Extremist Dr. Walid Phares has also stated on Facebook:
“I caution against reaching any final conclusions in any direction yet because it is evolving, and there are several forces pushing their agendas. And yes of course you have the Islamists (MB and others) rushing, Iran applauding, but you have youth which has never been so explosive as before. And of course you have an incredibly ‘lost’ US policy which is adding to the equation. What we see is going to last, and final outcomes are not yet around the corner. More in my book and in pieces coming soon…(bottom line: do not let past historical experiences take over your analysis. No doubt about it, the Islamists are all over the map, but the context had changed. We’re gonna see something new, complex, and long…).”

Dr. Phares and I, in our own different ways, different opinions, and different directions have challenged Islamists’ views repeatedly.  There are certainly things on which we will disagree, but anyone who looks into the history of either of us will see clearly that neither I nor Dr. Phares have been appeasers of Violent Extremists or Islamists. We see threats, but more importantly we can also see the need for engagement, encouragement, hope, and mutual respect for people who genuinely seek freedom and democracy.

Dr. Phares has stated on al Arabiya TV: “We need to engage the real leadership of the young demonstrators. We need to identify them and have them represented in the new process. But civil society should form its own leadership beyond the existing movements and parties.”

It is important for all of us who love freedom to realize that there can be NO deals with dictators.

The price to pay of losing our credibility on freedom, democracy, and human rights will always be too high.  People, especially young people, around the world are watching to see if we can have the conscience that we claim and if we really do support defense of democracy that we urge others to risk their lives to pursue.

For those who have also been concerned about Islamist views and the Muslim Brotherhood, this is also your opportunity to demonstrate the courage of your convictions on human freedom for ALL people.  It is certainly possible that Muslim Brotherhood extremists may grab power in Egypt, but let’s not forget that there are millions of other Egyptians who simply seek a better life and freedom in their nation.  If freedom supporting people in America and around the world can’t be there to support the Egyptian people, then who are we to then be surprised if the Muslim Brotherhood gains power?

We must not let fear define our position on the truths that we hold self-evident of universal human rights for all people.  If we want others to aspire to a standard of human freedom, human dignity, and human rights, we must first set an example of this for the world ourselves and stand united with those struggling for freedom everywhere.

Be Responsible for Equality And Liberty – for All.

How Hate and Emotional Storms Plan to Destroy Us

In another of the articles on love and hate during the moratorium against hate, I address the challenge of hate and emotional storms attacking society.

In the struggle throughout America to deal with the national problem of obesity, the well-meaning advocates of exercise, diet, and responsibility complete ignore the number one cause for obesity: how we live today. I don’t mean the references to our sedentary lifestyles, the unhealthy foods promoted, or the atmosphere that discourages exercise.  We hear about those problems frequently.  It is popular to talk about these failures in American culture on talk show on television, watched by people who are told if only you walk more, or if only you eat more broccoli, etc., your life will be better.

But these debates don’t mention the larger problem of the emotional storms of abuse, anger, hopelessness, and even hatred against ourselves and one another. Moreover, we view such emotional storms as someone else’s problem, not a societal responsibility to address.  We have emergency repair organizations and the Red Cross to deal with physical storms, floods, and disasters.

But who can the millions turn to in dealing with the crises of emotional storms that regularly lash our lives as human beings?  Some turn to their religious faiths, a very small number seek counseling.  But the vast majority who face such emotional storms are simply ignored, forgotten, and expected to address their issues without guidance and without help.  Society believes that emotional storms, after all, aren’t “real storms” and they don’t really require societal involvement.

We have entire television channels devoted to addressing and preparedness for physical weather storms, but when it comes to emotional storms within our lives, American society largely fails to even acknowledge that they are a societal problem.  They are, after all, just “part of life,” or as years ago people would say “into every life some rain must fall” when dealing with emotional trauma, fear, hopelessness, abuse, and anger.

For many, they find shelter from such storms in “comfort foods” as their drug of choice to help cope with emotional storms and trauma. Then we wonder why we have a national problem with obesity, and many blame the “laziness” of our public for this.  This spins the wheel of negativity once again, as the latest self-help doctor on television tells the public, if only you would eat better, work out more, you would not be overweight or sick.  How we feel as human beings and as a society?  That’s too complicated and it takes too much time (see “life at the speed of hate”).  Our society has the same approach to cigarette, alcohol, drug addiction.  The addictions are the problem, not our lives, not the emotional storms that we ignore as a society.

We are too busy building our prosperity to care about how each other feels.  This then gives us the money to find countermeasures to the food, alcohol, drug, etc. self-medication attempts to cope with the real problem of the emotional storms within our lives — that we choose to ignore as a society. But the result is the same regardless of what we use to self-medicate ourselves in the emotional storms that lash our lives.  There is no visible option or consideration for many to channel their lives to help their community, to help in social responsibility, as a means to cope with these problems. Too many have lives that are solely centered around the stress, anger, abuse, fear, and hopelessness in their own lives – yet our society does not acknowledge this as a problem.  There is no association with this problem and our larger societal struggles with hate.

What does it have to do with hate?

It is not just that people feel hopeless, powerless, and frustrated in their lives.

Too many hate their lives and they hate themselves. While American television shows promote the latest diets, the latest execise machines, we allow a national epidemic of self-hatred to go unchallenged and even unacknowledged. Society allow us to believe that hating ourselves is fine.   Then we wonder why we are an angry nation.

So if our society tolerates self-hatred, why should our society expect to challenge hatred against others?  It may not be as socially acceptable in some areas, but when we teach acceptance of hatred – no matter who it is directed at – we are teaching acceptance of the most destructive force against all of humanity.

Once we are taught that it is acceptable to hate ourselves, too many are ultimately driven to hate their fellow human beings. It is a short distance to travel.

Such hatred (towards ourselves and each other) and such emotional storms don’t simply seek to kill us.  They seek to DESTROY us as human beings from the inside one at a time. Then collectively, the virus of hatred and indifference to our fellow human beings spreads and becomes a way of societal life.

Hate seeks to turn our human bodies into inhuman vessels of negativity, violence, and hatred towards humanity itself.  Ultimately, there is nothing that the inhuman grip of hatred would not force us to do, even destroy humanity itself.  Hate is the ultimate in self-destructive forces in humanity.

But we can choose another path.  We can give victory to tolerance, have the courage of compassion, and build a path and platform to love and compassion.  Even when we think we are enslaved by our problems and pressed into a corner by our emotional storms, we still can choose.  There is another way.

All of us in our society struggles between hate and tolerance every day.  Every time we show restraint, every time we offer compassion and mercy, we take another step towards human dignity in our societies.  But our world and our lives are often beset with emotional storms that we must acknowledge as a society.  We must find ways to protect our hearts and minds from the abuse, not simply internalize the abuse and allow it to become a part of our identities.  When abuse seeks to drive us to hate, we must reach instead for love.

But of all those we must love, we must first love ourselves as worthy human beings.

When the voices attacking us from without and from within rage around us, we must find a quiet place of human sanctuary that will not allow our self worth, our self dignity to be denied.  When hate seeks to invade our sanctuary of self, we must tell hate “we will not be moved.”

In that quiet place of humanity, we must reaffirm to Choose Love, Not Hate – Love Wins.

We Remember Christina Green

We remember 9 year old Christian Taylor Green laid to rest on January 13.  She was born on September 11, 2001, and was the youngest victim of Tucson, Arizona shootings on January 8, 2011.

She will be missed, and we mourn for all the victims who were killed and injured in the January 8, 2011 attack.

R.I.P. Christina Taylor Green - a Courageous Child Born on 9/11/2001

A Month Without Hate

Let us say no to hate.  It is something that we have the power individually to do.   On January 13, we saw a 9 year old girl born on 9/11 who was buried in Arizona, murdered by a man who sought to assassinate Congresswoman Giffords and shooting a crowd who went to see her.  The response has been more anger, more venom, and some places even more hate.   We can say “enough.”  And it is time for us to see for ourselves how much control that hate has over our lives.

So we offer this challenge to ourselves and to you.  Let us try a one month moratorium on hate – whether it is those who call others “thugs” or preach about the “worst people in the world.”  Let us step away from such venom, harsh words, and accusations, and yes, hatred, towards others for one month – from January 14 to February 14, concluding on Valentine’s Day.

We could have picked any day to attempt this moratorium on hate, but let’s start now – let’s start today.

Furthermore, we offer you  an Online Petition to take a public stand and tell the world that you will join this one month without hate at:
http://www.petitiononline.com/mowohate/petition.html

Then tell us your experiences, and we will anonymously (unless you want to be public on them) report them here on February 14.  Let us see individually what a struggle it is to go a month without hate, and see what type of grip hate has on our lives as individuals.

To take a stand against hate, we declare our intentions and our goals to take charge of our lives and declare a month-long moratorium on hate.  We seek to reject hate in our lives from in this month from January 14 to February 14.  We seek to stop allowing hate-filled images, words, and comments in our individual lives and not allow hate to be a source of entertainment or interest in our daily lives.

We seek first and foremost to change hate in OUR lives, before we seek to change the lives of others.  We will use this month where we reject hate in our lives to be consistent on hate.

We will reject the hate that continues to be spread throughout the world in many ways and many places, on the Internet, in public, in private, in media outlets, among politicians, and among ourselves.

We will reject hate against identity groups of our fellow human beings’ race, religion, nationality, creed, gender, sexual orientation, and we commit that it will not be a part of our lives for the next month.  We will reject all slurs and cruel terms against our fellow human beings.

To those who seek to cling to hate, we offer an outstretched hand, not an upraised fist.  They too are our brothers and sisters in humanity.

We urge all to join us in this month long moratorium rejecting hate in our lives.

We urge all to Choose Love, Not Hate – Love Wins.

We take this public stance to prove that we have the Courage to defy hate in our own lives.

News Report: DHS Investigating American Renaissance Link to Arizona Terror Attack

FOX News reports that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has had internal discussions as to whether accused Arizona terrorist Jared Lee Loughner, alleged to be responsible for the mass-murder terrorist attack might be linked to the American Renaissance “white nationalist” group, that plans to hold a national conference in Charlotte, North Carolina on February 4-6, 2011. The January 8, 2011 terrorist attack in Arizona killed 6, including a 9-year old girl (Christina Taylor Green), and critically wounded Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and 12 others.  The Huffington Post is also reporting on this.  The American Renaissance also operates under the name “New Century Foundation”.  (In other news, the American Renaissance is planning a national event in Charlotte, NC for February 4-6.)

The FOX News report states that:

“MEMO:
“The investigation has been taken over by the FBI, and is being run through the Tucson Command Post. Here’s what can be confirmed at this time (1800 hrs)… * Gabrielle Giffords Is in ICU.* Federal judge John Roll is deceased. He did rule on a 32 million dollar civil rights lawsuit in February, 2010. That ruling brought death threats to Roll and his family, and for a time he was given a protection detail.* 6 deaths attributed to the shooting. 19 total people hit by gunfire.* suspect’s mother works for the Pima County Board of Supervisors* the suspect has multiple arrests … But no criminal record? Intervention by someone?* no direct connection – but strong suspicion is being directed at AmRen / American Renaissance. Suspect is possibly linked to this group. (through videos posted on his myspace and YouTube account.). The group’s ideology is anti government, anti immigration, anti ZOG (Zionist Occupational Government), anti Semitic. Gabrielle Gifford is the first Jewish female elected to such a high position in the US government. She was also opposite this group’s ideology when it came to immigration debate.* DHS have a list of names and dates of birth of all victims.* the ACTIC is still playing a major role in the investigation… Computer forensics is cleaning up the surveillance videos, and images from around the scene, and involved in the investigation – working together, was MCSO, DPS, Phoenix PD, ICE, and of course the FBI. It did just come in from the command post, that the federal judge was Not originally scheduled to attend the meeting, according to wife. She stated that he received a phone call about an hour before and was invited to attend. Wrong place – wrong time. For the planning side, there are impromptu memorials popping up all over the state, but the largest one is downtown phoenix, at the capital.’ “

Politico reported that:

“Jared Taylor, editor of American Renaissance, made clear in an interview with Fox News that the group considers itself a think tank of sorts with a conservative circular that’s available by subscription. Asked about the memo, he said, ‘That is complete nonsense. I have absolutely no idea what DHS is talking about.’ He told the cable channel that his group checked subscriber lists for its circular and found no record of Loughner subscribing or attending events.”

The Stormfront organization, which has long been a supporter of the American Renaissance group, has had a series of postings trying to blame the terrorist attack on a black-American or a Mexican-American.  A number of the Stormfront posters were pleased with the terrorist attack because Gabrielle Giffords is Jewish.

One Stormfront poster “14words_of_truth” repeatedly sought to defend the accused Arizona terrorist Jared Lee Loughner as “He went after a member of the government that he hates and wants to kill.”  The same poster stated, regarding the accused terrorist murderer, that “He feels he has no Civil Rights. He is correct, and that is because of the Federal Government. Without an action, there is no reaction.”

News media have been reporting that accused Arizona terrorist Jared Lee Loughner stated in December 2010 on his (now gone) MySpace page that he sought to kill a police officer.

AP: Probe examines possible link to anti-gov’t group
(AP) January 9, 2011
“WASHINGTON (AP) — An official familiar with the Arizona shooting investigation says local authorities are looking at a possible connection between Jared Loughner and an online group known for its anti-government rhetoric. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the ongoing investigation, says this is one of several motives that local authorities are pursuing in the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz. The anti-government organization American Renaissance is connected to the white supremacist New Century Foundation, according to an analysis by the Southern Poverty Law Center, an Alabama-based group that tracks hate crimes. Members typically espouse anti-Semitic and anti-government views. Loughner’s online postings include language that is in line with such beliefs.”

DHS Memo Suggests Shooter May Be Linked To Racist Organization
FOX News by Jennifer Griffin — January 09, 2011

“According to a law enforcement memo based on information provided by DHS and obtained by Fox News, Jared Loughner, the alleged shooter of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, may have been influenced by a pro-white racist organization that publishes an anti-immigration newsletter.”

“No direct connection, but strong suspicion is being direceted at American Renaissance, an organization that Loughner mentioned in some of his internet postings and federal law enforcement officials are investigating Loughner’s possible links to the organization. The organization is a monthly publication that promotes a variety of white racial positions.”

“The group’s ideology is anti government, anti immigration, anti ZOG (Zionist Occupational Government), anti Semitic,” according to the memo which goes on to point out that Congressman Giffords is the first Jewish female elected to high office in Arizona. A recent posting on American Renaissance’s website on January 7 begins with an article entitled: “Exit poll: Whites are Different.” The site goes on to list anti-immigration articles. Investigators are also pursuing Loughner’s alleged anti-Semitism.”

Once again, the “American Renaissance” group is in the news.  The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has identified the American Renaissance organization as a “white nationalist” “hate group.” R.E.A.L. has previously demonstrated the American Renaissance group’s support by the Stormfront group (led by ex-Ku Klux Klan leader, former American Nazi Party member Don Black), American Renaissance’s defense on Stormfront leader radio shows, and support by South African apartheid apologist Dan Roodt.  R.E.A.L has separately reported on Stormfront, whose members regularly promote cross-burning and racist views, and one of whose members was pled guilty in 2010 regarding a terrorist plot.

In 2010, R.E.A.L. challenged the “white nationalist” American Renaissance group and its activists’ and its group’s views on minority races, and urged them to reconsider their views.  When they sought to hold an event here at our nation’s capital where R.E.A.L is HQ’d in 2010, I sought to have a counter-message to give an alternative view to their rejection of human diversity and the consistent studies and comments that seek to claim that people of minority races in the United States are inferior, among other views.  When R.E.A.L. sought to have provide such a counter-message, American Renaissance speaker Craig Bodeker stated: “I’d be surprised if someone didn’t decide to correct your behavior :) ” and “when someone does declares war on us, it’s OK to fight back. With any and all means.”

In 2011, the “white nationalist” group American Renaissance now plans to hold a meeting from February 4-6, 2011 in Charlotte, North Carolina.  In 2010, American Renaissance failed to hold a biannual conference in our nation’s capital, when hotels canceled their event after discovering the identity of the group.  The group previously booked its events using the “corporate” name of the American Renaissance group: New Century Foundation (NCF).

The American Renaissance Group has chosen Charlotte to promote its “white nationalist” views because their supporters claim Charlotte offers a more “patriotically-inclined ambience.”  Another “white nationalist” who promotes this event as well as former Ku Klux Klan David Duke, states that “to ensure security, the exact location of the conference venue will not be disclosed until 48 hours before the conference begins.”

In this year’s plan to hold a “conference” in Charlotte, North Carolina, the American Renaissance plans to have two “mystery guests,” including “one of the most dynamic leaders of the one of the most dynamic nationalist parties in Europe.”  In 2010, American Renaissance sought to have Nick Griffin of the British National Party (BNP) speak who has called the Holocaust as “the Holohoax,” and who has previously met with the former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke.  Until recent years, David Duke also attended American Renaissance events.  Both David Duke and Nick Griffin appeared at a previous white supremacist conference that was attended by white supremacist terrorist James Von Brunn who killed black security guard Stephen Tyrone Johns at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC in June 2009.  In 2010, Stormfront organization members eulogized Von Brunn’s recent death, and defendedVon Brunn’s terrorist actions in Washington DC.

The American Renaissance / New Century Foundation website provides a cacophony of White Supremacist hate commentaries mocking Black Americans based on their IQ, arguing that the genetics of Black Americans make them intellectually inferior, and railing against “the color of crime” with comments attacking Blacks and Hispanic individuals.  It warns its readers about “Transition to Black Rule” and attacks Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It’s focus is exclusively on a white supremacist perspective on race with books and articles entitled: “Why Race Matters,”  “Racial Heresies of the 21st Century,” and “Race and the American Prospect.”

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) promotes human equality, dignity, respect, rights, and love for one another.  We urge those who would promote racial hatred or disrespect to reconsider their actions.

R.E.A.L. has challenged the American Renaissance and its group’s views on minority races, and urged them to reconsider their views.  After receiving repeated threatening statements from supporters of American Renaissance, R.E.A.L.’s leader Jeffrey Imm chose to make a public statement on February 16 by himself.

R.E.A.L.’s position is the same as it was when we first approached American Renaissance as it is today.

We urge those with racial hatred in their hearts, to drop the burden of hate from their hearts.

Our message has consistently been not only to reject hate, but also to offer an alternative based on our universal human rights.  To those who hate their fellow human beings, remember that our universal human rights are also your universal human rights.  We challenge hate and we promote human rights, not just for us, but also for you.

We don’t offer you an upraised fist, but an outstretched hand and an invitation to…

Choose Love – Not Hate.  Love Wins.
