Nigeria: Tens of Thousands Flee after Recent Terror Attacks – 135,000 Have Fled Nigeria Due to Terrorism – Mostly Women and Girls

Reports from the United Nations and nations neighboring Nigeria are reporting that as many as 20,000 have fled Nigeria after recent Boko Haram terrorist attacks. This diaspora of Nigerians fleeing their nation have gone to neighboring Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. Nigerians have fled their nation over the past 10 days after the Boko Haram attack on the Nigerian Borno state and the town of Baga.  Refugee status on Nigerians fleeing the Boko Haram terrorism have been coming in from the United Nations Refugee Agency, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNCHR), neighboring nations to nations, and the news media.

The Boko Haram terrorism has led to 135,000 Nigerians fleeing their nation, and 850,000 displaced individuals from Nigerian areas attacked by terrorism. The majority of the refugees are women and girls fleeing the terrorist violence of their Nigerian homeland.

Reuters is reporting that “In the past 10 days, the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) estimates 6,000 Nigerian refugees have fled east into Cameroon and a further 1,500 have gone north to seek shelter in Niger. Chad estimates 13,000 people have entered its western Lake Chad region. Some have drowned in their attempt to flee, others have been left stranded on lake islands awaiting rescue boats.

The UNCHR has reported that more than 7,000 Nigerians have fled the Boko Haram terrorism for the nation of Chad, as a result of the recent attacks in the past 10 days in Nigeria’s Borno state. Chad is now hosting more than 10,000 refugees from Nigeria.

At the end of November, the UNCHR reported that Boko Haram terrorism in the northern Nigerian town of Damassak left 50 people dead and forced at least 3,000 to flee to the Diffa region in neighboring country of Niger. Most of the refugees were women, children, older people, and some injured.

During the beginning of November, the UNCHR reported that 13,000 Nigerians fled Boko Haram terrorism for the nation of Cameroon in late October: “according to Cameroonian authorities, some 13,000 Nigerian refugees crossed from Adamawa state after insurgents attacked and captured the town of Mubi in late October. The refugees fled to the towns of Guider and Gashiga in the North region of Cameroon and to Bourha, Mogode and Boukoula in the Far North.”

The News Nigeria reports: “The United Nations on Tuesday said that the latest wave of Boko Haram’s ‘vicious, ruthless attacks’ in northeastern Nigeria had sent 11,320 people fleeing into Chad in a matter of days. The Islamist group stormed the town of Baga on January 3, and subsequently razed it and at least 16 surrounding settlements. While it has been impossible for aid workers to enter the area to verify accounts of the slaughter and of corpses rotting in the streets, the attack is feared to have been the worst massacre since Boko Haram’s deadly insurgency began in 2009. Some 20,000 people are said to have fled their homes in the area since the attack, and the UN refugee agency said Tuesday that some 11,320 people had arrived in neighbouring Chad alone. A full 60 percent of the new arrivals in Chad were women and girls, UNHCR spokesman William Spindler told reporters, adding that 84 unaccompanied children had also crossed over. Another 2,000 people had become stranded on an island in Lake Chad during their desperate escape, he said, adding that UNHCR was working to transport them to the mainland.”

The UNCHR states “the conflict in north-east Nigeria has led to the exodus of 135,000 people – around 35,000 Nigerians to Cameroon and 10,000 to Chad and the displacement of at least 850,000 people within Nigeria’s Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.”

Germany: Terrorist Firebomb Attack on Newspaper for Cartoons

German and European media are reporting on a new terrorist attack against our universal human rights of freedom of speech. This latest attack was against the Hamburger Morgenpost newspaper in Hamburg, Germany, which last week had republished some of the cartoons from the French magazine Charlie Hebdo. The terrorist attack happened in the very early Sunday morning hours on January 11, 2015, with an “incendiary device” thrown into the building as well rocks smashing basement windows of the building. It is reported that this was believed to be a “Molotov cocktail.” Newspaper files have been burned, but reportedly no one was harmed.

Acccording to the Hamburger Morgenpost, “two men (35 and 39) had behaved suspiciously in the area , have been arrested , according to police.” The Morgenpost also reports that “‘There is no knowledge, no claim of responsibility or other evidence,’ police spokeswoman Karina Sadowsky said this morning.” They are seeking those with information to contact the police in Hamburg, Germany at: 42 865 67 89. We must stand with the Hamburger Morgenpost in defense of our shared universal human rights.

The terrorist campaign against a free press, free speech, and our universal human rights must never be allowed to win.  We must continue to defy such terrorists and their extremist ideologies which reject our shared universal human rights.

We call for all of our fellow human beings to defy such hate and violence, and be responsible for equality and liberty.

Paris: Three Day Campaign of Terror Ends with Kosher Supermarket Killings

The past three days has seen a rapid and fluid campaign of terror against the people of Paris, which we have been reporting on Facebook due to the frequent changes. This began with the January 7 terrorist attack on the free press by terrorists Cherif Kouachi and Said Kouachi.

On January 7, the terrorist brothers Cherif and Said Kouachi killed cartoonists, writers at the Paris-based Charlie Hebdo magazine, as well as killing a visitor, a caretaker, and police. They killed 12 individuals and wounding 11, including killing two police officers (including one police officer who was a Muslim). The 12 victims of this terrorist attack in Paris were: Stephane Charbonnier, editor of Charlie Hebdo; Jean Cabut, cartoonist; Georges Wolinski, cartoonist; Bernard Verlhac, cartoonist; Philippe Honore, cartoonist; Bernard Maris, economist; Elsa Cayat, psychoanalyst and columnist; Mustapha Ourrad, copy editor; Michel Renaud, visitor; Frederic Boisseau, caretaker; Ahmed Merabet, policeman; Brigadier Franck Brinsolaro, police bodyguard.

On January 8, the terror campaign continued in Montrouge, with a terrorist murder of a black Paris policewoman Clarissa Jean-Philippe, who was dealing with a traffic accident. She was murdered by terrorist Amedy Coulibaly. The Daily Mail is reporting that “[i]t has now been suggested this attack may have been an aborted attempt to attack a Jewish school.”

On January 9, it has come to its third day with dual hostage taking in Dammartin-en-Goële and Porte de Vincennes boulevard areas.

In northern Paris, the terrorists Cherif and Said Kouachi brothers cornered by police and took at least one hostage at a printing shop in Dammartin-en-Goële, about 7.5 miles from Charles de Gaulle airport. French police launched an assault killing both of the terrorists, and releasing the hostage.

In eastern Paris, terrorist Amedy Coulibaly went to a Jewish kosher supermarket to take hostages of women and children at the Hyper Cacher (“Super Kosher”) in Paris, near Porte de Vincennes boulevard. We have learned that the terrorist killed hostages, and police stormed the supermarket to free the remaining hostages.   It has been reported that children and babies were among the hostages held by the terrorists. According to French President Francois Hollande, four hostages were killed at the siege of the kosher supermarket. An Israeli government official has stated that 15 hostages were rescued.  A YouTube video of the police raid on the Hyper Cacher supermarket where the hostages were held, clearly shows the bodies of dead hostages laying on the ground before the Paris police raided the building.  At this time, the names of the victims have not been released.

French President Francois Hollande described the terrorist attack as “appalling anti-Semitic act.”

============================

Update (January 10, 2015). The French publication JSS News has published the names of the victims of the Hyper Cacher supermarket attack, and has asked us to share this information.

The January 9 terror attack victims were: 1. Yohan Cohen ( 22 years old), 2. Yoav Hattab (21 years, son of the Chief Rabbi of Tunis), 3. Philip Braham (forty years), 4. François-Michel Saada (sixties).

JSS News also states that: “In Judaism, we ask the faithful to pray for their souls. So be it. Thank you to share their names with the largest number so that we can never forget. And if you can, turn this evening a candle in their memory.”

We have also received numerous reports on those had to hide with small children in the supermarket freezers and other parts to protect themselves from the terrorist violence.

============================

In addition, there has been a report that police have police shut down central Paris’s historically Jewish Marais neighborhood, due to concern over other anti-Semitic terrorist threats.

On January 9, terrorists Cherif Kouachi and Said Kouachi were killed in a shoot-out with police during a police raid to release hostages in Dammartin-en-Goële. The Daily Mail reports that during conversations with police, Cherif Kouach stated: “I am a defender of the prophet. I was sent by Al Qaeda of Yemen. I’m financed by Imam Anwar al Awlaqi. Anwar is a (preacher).”

Also on January 9, terrorist Amedy Coulibaly was killed in a shoot-out with police during a police raid to release hostages at the Hyper Cacher supermarket in Parks. The Daily Mail reports that during separate conversations with police, Amedy Coulibaly “confirmed that he was in contact with the Kouachis and that the attacks had been ‘synchronized’. He said that he had swore allegiance to Islamic State in Iraq and had targeted the shop because ‘it was Jewish’.”

However, it is reported that Amedy Coulibaly had a female terror accomplice, Hayat Boumeddiene, with a birthdate of 6/26/1988. She remains at large.

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) calls for all of our fellow human beings to denounce the terrorist attacks against the people in Paris, and anywhere in the world.

We know this terror campaign is not limited to France, but is a world war against all of humanity and all human freedoms and rights. Those who perform terrorist actions and those who support such terrorist activity attack our universal human rights. They represent a global threat to our shared universal human rights, which must be recognized and challenged by all human rights groups.

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) urges our fellow human beings responsible for our shared universal human rights to continue to aggressively challenge and condemn such extremist groups and individuals – anywhere in the world, and using any language. Our shared universal human rights, as described in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), is essential for peace, harmony, respect, and security for all of our fellow human beings of every identity group, every nationality, and every religious view and conscience.

Due to the fluid and changing nature of this report, Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) has been reporting this campaign of terror against human rights on Facebook.

France: Enemies of Human Rights Praise Terror Campaign in France

As we have reported, many Muslim groups and individuals have publicly rejected the ongoing terror campaign in France. As these Muslims state, no religious views should rationalize murder and terrorism, and a campaign of attack against our shared universal human rights.

In the meantime, there are extremist groups and individuals who are expressing solidarity and support for the terror campaign against France. We know this terror campaign is not limited to France, but is a world war against all of humanity and all human freedoms and rights. They are supporting terrorism and calling for attacks on our universal human rights, and they represent enemies of our shared universal human rights.

While Twitter is being used to express solidarity among people of all religions and all nations condemning the terror campaign in France, Twitter is also being used by extremists to promote support for this terrorism campaign by extremists, using the hashtag translated as #ExpelTheCrusaderAmongYou

It is reported that social media has also been used to spread support for the terror campaign in France, including on Facebook with comments such as “this is the harvest of the hatred that France has sowed.”

Somalia’s Shebab extremist group in Africa also praised the terror campaign in Paris as a “heroic” act. Ashram and AFP reported that the Shebab extremist’s Radio Andulus praised the terror campaign against the Charlie Hebdo publication stating, “[t]hey made millions of Muslims happy by taking action. Some misguided people claim that freedom of expression was attacked, but that is not the case, and the two heroic people acted accordingly.”

Reuters and Pakistan Nation report: “A fighter of the Islamic State militant group praised Wednesday’s attack on a French satirical magazine that killed at least 12 people, telling Reuters the raid was revenge for insults against Islam. ‘The lions of Islam have avenged our Prophet,’ said Abu Mussab, a Syrian who fights with the Islamic State, which has captured broad swathes of Iraqi and Syrian territory. ‘These are our lions. It’s the first drops – more will follow,’ he said, speaking via an internet connection from Syria. He added that he and his fellow fighters were happy about the incident. ‘Let these crusaders be scared because they should be.’ No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.”

The Algemeiner has published reports that “[o]ver the last several months, France has emerged as a top target for IS. In September 2014, IS spokesman Abu Muhammad Al Adanani urged IS supporters worldwide to mount attacks in their countries of residence against both military and civilian targets, using any means available. Al Adanani specifically identified France as a recommended target, a separate MEMRI dispatch reported at the time. Similar themes were echoed by several jihadi sympathizers on Twitter. A user identified as Najam wrote: “#Paris Is Burning. Oh Allah slaughter them, Allah attack them. This newspaper insulted the Messenger of Allah and Islam.’ Another user commented: ‘France turned the lands of the Muslims into battlefields, and now the Muslims have turned Paris into a battlefield. Allahu akhbar.'”

On December 23, 2014, the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) reported that, using Facebook, “French IS Supporters And Fighters Urge Attacks In France And Europe.” MEMRI specifically stated that IS spokesman Abu Muhammad Al-‘Adanan urged “IS supporters worldwide to perform attacks in their countries of residence against both military and civilian targets using any means possible. He specifically identified France as a recommended target.”

The USA Today published the comments by Bristish extremist Anjem Choudary, who rejected the concept of freedom of expression (which he is so dependent on), and stated that: “Muslims consider the honor of the Prophet Muhammad to be dearer to them than that of their parents or even themselves. To defend it is considered to be an obligation upon them. The strict punishment if found guilty of this crime under sharia (Islamic law) is capital punishment implementable by an Islamic State. This is because the Messenger Muhammad said, ‘Whoever insults a Prophet kill him.'”

The Radio Free Europe reported on praise for the terror campaign by British female extremists on Twitter, reporting that: “As news broke of the Paris attack, British female IS militant Umm Jafar Britaniyah, who is based in the Syrian town of Manbij, expressed her joy in a series of tweets. After her initial reaction — ‘ALLAHU AKBAR!!!!!! OUR brothers in France!!! May Allah reward them abundantly and grant them VICTORY AMEEN!!'” — Umm Jafar called on Allah to ‘help [the gunmen] kill as many kafirs [infidels] as they can.'”

Radio Free Europe also reported on another individual praising the terrorists: “Another female militant, who tweets in English under the name Umm Handhla posted her initial reaction to the attack: ‘ALLAHU.AKBAR buzzzzzzzzzzzzzn May allah protect the mujahideen in Franceeee!!! Shooting was maad!!'”

Radio Free Europe also stated that: “A male militant, who calls himself Abu Junaid As-Somali, and who tweeted extensively about the Charlie Hebdo attack tweeted his wish that Allah grant the two men access to Paradise, because they had ‘muted & killed that filthy najis [a person regarded as ritually unclean] Charlie.’ As-Somali had previously tried to claim that the IS group had been responsible for the Charlie Hebdo attack, tweeting about the ‘Islamic State wilayat [province] of Paris’ and telling ‘Muslims of France’ that they were lucky not to have to travel thousands of kilometers ‘to seek martyrdom.’ As-Somali added, ‘Violent Extemism is at ur doorstep, defend Islam there.'”

Radio Free Europe also reported of further calls to attack France, stating: “One video, released by Islamic State’s media wing, Al-Hayat, on November 20, 2014, features a group of French militants who urge French Muslims to carry out terrorist attacks in France. ‘Even poison is available, so poison the water and food of at least one of the enemies of Allah,’ one French militant says in the video.”

Radio Free Europe reported that “Bird of Jannah added that Muslims should not feel sorry for the victims of the Charlie Hebdo terrorist attack. ‘If you love them and feel sad for what happened to them, verily you carry no Al Walaa wal Baraa [loyalty and disavowal]. Your aqeedah [belief] has distorted! Fear Allah!’ she tweeted.”

Homeland Security Today also reported on support from other extremist groups for the terror campaign, as researched by Middle East groups. Homeland Security Today reported: “According to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), Violent Extremist reaction to the attack on Charlie Hebdo was almost immediate. Participants on jihadi forums and social media praised the attackers, saying that the shooting was a legitimate act of revenge against the weekly for insulting Islam and against France for its crimes against Muslims,” said MEMRI Executive Director Steven Stalinsky. MEMRI said, ‘Members of the pro-ISIS forum Violent Extemismi Media Platform (alplatformmedia.com) lashed out at France. A member called Al Dia’ Al Gharib wrote: ‘France was [once] part of the land of Islam and will return to be the land of Islam, in spite the worshippers of the Cross.”” “Another, who goes by the name Muhib Al Salihin, wrote: ‘France is one of the harshest enemies of Islam and of the Islamic State in particular.” Forum member Abu Al Qassem Al Shawqi commented: ‘[This] is news that quenches the thirst for revenge. By Allah, beloved ones, let us not think lightly of prayers. By Allah, they [the attackers] are soldiers of Allah.’ And a member calling himself Abu Bakr Al Zari’ni remarked: ‘Congratulations to France and to its people for reaping what their hands sowed. Did these evil cartoonists think that we were a nation that would remain silent in face of those who insult our Prophet…? Did [French President] Hollande and the governments that preceded him think that their interventions and despotism in the lands of the Muslims would not be met with retribution? No, by Allah, from now on the youths of Islam will no longer remain silent, especially since we have a state [ISIS] to mobilize armies if anybody insults the nation of Islam.’”

Homeland Security Today also reported that: “Arabic-speaking jihad supporters also celebrated the attack on Twitter, some using the Arabic hashtag ‘Paris Is Burning,’” MEMRI reporte

d, saying, “Many of them shared videos from the scene of the attack, calling the shooters ‘heroes’ and praising them for avenging the honor of the Prophet and of Islam. One, who calls himself Najam (@35njm), wrote: ‘#Paris Is Burning. Oh Allah slaughter them, Allah attack them. This newspaper insulted the Messenger of Allah and Islam.’ ISIS supporter Hamel Al Liwa’ (@blue964) tweeted: ‘Fear prevails among the newspapers and journalists who hate Islam. There are demands for military protection of the paper headquarters. #Paris is turning into a military barracks.’ Another ISIS supporter, Al Khilafa Hiya Al Hal [‘the Caliphate is the solution’] (@death4x), shared a video of the attack and commented: ‘France turned the lands of the Muslims into battlefields, and now the Muslims have turned Paris into a battlefield. Allah Akbar.’”

Homeland Security also reported other reactions from French speakiing extremists on Twitter. “ISIS supporter Abou Hafs (@Ansar_Al_Ouma) tweeted: ‘Oh Allah, the honor of your prophet has been cleansed.’ Another, Al Furat Wadijlah (@AlFuratWadijlah), commented on the character of the attack: ‘An RPG7 with Kalashnikovs, it’s a well prepared assault.’ He added: ‘That dog Charb [Charlie Hebdo editor-in-chief and cartoonist Stéphane Charbonnier, who is one of those killed in the attack] was supposed to publish this drawing on the first page this week.'”

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) understands that we and the media can always find extremists in every identity group, which we will all reject. But there is a difference between ranting lunatics and individuals actively supporting terrorism against our fellow human begins, as well as such terrorist committing such violence. We cannot simply “ignore” such extremists, but also must challenge such views.

It is not simple or comfortable to challenge such extremists that claim to be within our own identity group. I am very well aware of this in my own years of challenges to white individuals, who have racial supremacist views, and I am well aware of the violent reactions from such ideological challenges. But we cannot abandon on defense of human rights, simply because it is difficult.

R.E.A.L. calls for the continuing rejection and challenging of such extremist views which defy our shared universal human rights, undermine shared need for security, respect, dignity, and peace, and which disgrace every religious view by calling for violence and hatred as a means to suppress the rights of others.

Stormfront White Supremacist’s Further Praise for Terrorist Wade Page

White supremacist Stormfront supporters continue to support and praise the August 5, 2012 terrorist killings by fellow Stormfront supporter Wade Michael Page.   The ongoing rants by white supremacists debating the Page’s terrorist killings, includes further praise by a Stormfront white supremacist who called the terrorist attack as “more like an act of homeland defense,” and praised the terrorist actions as “[a] native son shot some aliens who are destroying something precious and irreplaceable.”

Regarding Wade Page’s terrorist murders, the Stormfront supporter “wunndrin” states “This one was not ‘wanton’, it was directed. And I’m glad some of this mud rabble got a report back from the White people, for that’s how they’ll see it, because they KNOW whose country this really is.” The Stormfront supporter views the killings as preceding a “large ‘SHTF race war’ or reclamation of White homelands – maybe our only chance of salvation…”

White Supremacist Terrorist Organized Richmond, VA Hate Group Concert in March 2012

Wade Michael Page, the terrorist killer behind the mass murder attack on a Sikh temple on August 4, 2012, was also one of the organizing coordinators of a white supremacist hate group concert in Richmond, Virginia on March 17, 2012.   Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) has investigated his white supremacist associations, and we have identified national and international contacts who have been involved with this white supremacist terrorists.  On behalf of the safety of our fellow human beings, we are making the information in this investigation public, so that our public understands the importance of continuing to challenge ideologies of hate and violence in America or anywhere in the world – that would deny our Universal Human Rights of freedom, dignity, life, and safety to innocent individuals.

(Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) regrets the disturbing images and content from the terrorist Wade Page and other white supremacist web sites.  We find the images revolting and disturbing, but we believe the public safety is served by being aware of the magnitude of the white supremacist terrorist threat.)

The March 17, 2012 Richmond, VA concert organized by terrorist Wade Michael Page featured one of his bands, called “Definite Hate,” as well as other white supremacist musical bands including “Open Season Australia” (Australia), “Chaos 88” (New Jersey), Landsknecht (Germany),  “FucFace88”  (Florida).  Terrorist Wade Michael Page stated that his “Definite Hate” band was based out of North Carolina;  Wade Page had previously been stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, while in the U.S. Army.

The terrorist Wade Page assisted a white supremacist group, called the Confederate Hammerskins (CHS), in organizing the event. Most of the information regarding the CHS events are maintained behind a wall of secrecy to their members. But a web cache of certain files led to discovery of communications and context on how the Confederate Hammerskins and their associated white supremacists organized such white supremacist hate concerts. (We have captured these in a PDF file.)   The CHS logo as shown in the image below, is seen in other concerts promoted by terrorist Wade Page.

The background on the CHS event organization shows that the flier promoting the event was created by someone with the screen name “End Apathy,” undoubtedly himself;  “End Apathy” was the other band that Wade Michael Page led.   “End Apathy” used Internet tool “Photo Bucket” to control and distribute the final event brochure, and the CHS communications show how this was approach was used to ensure secrecy of white supremacist concert planning.   “End Apathy” distributed their first flier for the Richmond, VA concert on October 7, 2011.

Terrorist Wade Page continued to maintain the PhotoBucket web site, but deleted all images except for a similar concert with CHS in August 7, 2010 in North Carolina – the same CHS logo is visible in the upper left hand of that concert, which featured both of the terrorist Page’s hate bands “Definite Hate” and “End Apathy,” as well as a group called “13 Knots”.   The event was also promoted by the white supremacist Label 56 group.

The white supremacist Confederate Hammerskins (CHS) group has chapters in Texas, the Carolinas, Virginia, Maryland, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, and Tennessee, as well as an international presence in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, France, Hungary, and Switzerland.  The white supremacist network that Terrorist Wade Page had access to was an international network. The ADL has reported that the Hammerskin group was founded in Dallas, Texas in the 1980s.

On its website, the CHS states on their web site that a “founding member of CHS was jailed for aggravated assault and a Federal Grand Jury was convened to investigate the actions of skinheads in the Dallas area,” which has led the CHS white supremacists to view that they are oppressed by an “anti-white justice system.”

During January 2012, CHS and event organizers received concerns about finding hotel rooms in Richmond that we be acceptable to the white supremacist sensitivities.  Specifically, multiple white supremacist used the CHS secret “Forum 38” posts to ask for the organizers to find rooms that would not be in “middle N***erville” (racial slur).

For the March 17, 2012 Richmond, VA concert, interested attendees used secret “Forum 38” managed by the CHS to exchange messages.   The concert was held in Richmond, VA near Willis Road in Richmond. By March 12, 2012, the CHS white supremacist organization was advising white supremacist concert attendees to use one of three “nearby” hotels in Richmond:
— VIP Inn, 2301 Willis Road, Richmond, VA 23237
— Country Inn & Suites, 2401 Willis Road, Richmond, VA 23237
— Americas Best Value Inn, 2126 Willis Road, Richmond, VA 23237

During the CHS communications, it was clear that the white supremacist attendees attracted to this concert were coming from the West Coast and all throughout the United States, as well as individuals traveling from around the world to this Richmond, VA concert to hear the Terrorist Wade Page’s white supremacist musical band “Definite Hate” and other white supremacist bands.

One Richmond, VA concert attendee JoCoRebel wrote “Anybody needing to make some face time get out there and do it, this is your chance to meet the soldiers for a future of our race!”

On March 16, 2012, the day before the white supremacist CHS concert, one CHS coordinator called “Vanilla Gorilla” provided the white supremacists with a telephone contact number to call for their final instructions.  This was uncovered in another web cache area of CHS white supremacist forum messages. (PDF version)

After the March 17, 2012 Richmond, VA white supremacist Confederate Hammerskin concert, various attendees used the same secret CHS forum to praise efforts from “new prospects” (chilling thought), and to praise Adolf Hitler.  The attendees claim to include an individual who claims to be “Amish,” as well.  (I have not posted the parts of this where attendees use terms referencing vulgar racial slurs as part of their after concert “thanks.”)

Follow-Up Media Reports of Concerts in Chesterfield, VA (Richmond suburb)

Based on additional investigation by two news teams WTVR and WBTV, it also appears that the Richmond, VA concert white supremacist concert was held in the Chesterfield, VA suburb of Richmond, at an indoor, windowless concrete facility managed by the Mid-Cities Civic Association. Previous concerts turned 100-150 attendees. One rental agent said that she saw the attendees giving a “Heil Hitler” salute.

The Mid-Cities Civic Association’s indoor facility was located at 9010 Quinnford Blvd, North Chesterfield/Bellwood, Virginia 23237

After WTVR television broadcasta story on Tuesday linking the terrorist’s use of the Mid-Cities Civic Association rental hall, Association President Nick Curry told WTVR “we don’t approve of it and we won’t rent to them again.”

Wade Michael Page and Music of Hate

Terrorist Wade Michael Page’s bands are promoted by Antipathy Records, which continues to sell the terrorist’s music to impact the thinking of other impressionable young minds, to persuade them to accept Wade Michael Page’s vision of racial hatred.  They sell two different albums, “Definite Hate Violent Victory” and “End Apathy – Self Destruct” and “Definite Hate – Madder than hell.” They praise the latter album by “Definite Hate,” which was the white supremacist musical group that appeared at the Richmond, VA concert, and which is described by “Antipathy Records” as “After 13 years the Southern Hate still smashes like a HAMMER. 1. Madder than hell, Meaner than s**t 2. Enforcer 3. Unstoppable 4. Violent Victory 5. Infected World 6. Chosen Few 7. I’m the One 8. Indefinite Hatred 9. Bonecrusher 10. Cop Calling C**t 11. Backbone 12. All for One 13. Souls of Heroes.”

The gruesome images on the terrorist’s albums clearly communicated his hatred for others, especially the image on the first album, Definite Hate – Violent Victory, which shows a white individual bludgeoning a black individual with a chain. The cover of this white supremacist hate group album clearly demonstrates that goal to promote violence, as does the second “Definite Hate” album with a blood-covered axe used by a white supremacist.

There is no doubt that it was precisely this type of call for RACIAL VIOLENCE that was being promoted by the Terrorist Wade Page’s Definite Hate group during the CHS concert in Richmond, Virginia, which was also co-organized by CHS individuals in Richmond.

The question for the Richmond community should be – how will they address this ongoing racial hatred in Richmond that led to members of its community cheering for the hate of a white supremacist band which last weekend resulted in murder on people of a minority group?

This is indeed, the question for the entire nation and the world.

What we cannot afford to do – is IGNORE the problem of racial supremacism and hatred.

We urge all to respect our fellow human beings as equal citizens in the world, with the same liberties, same equality, same dignity, same safety, and same human rights that we would seek to enjoy.  Such commitment to being responsible for equality and liberty – is a fundamental aspect of the American identity – indeed they represent the Truths we hold self-evident.  Around the world, such rights are codified in the Universal Human Rights developed after the defeat of the insane and murderous reign of Adolf Hitler, who many in these white supremacist and Neo-Nazi groups seek to emulate.    We must continue to challenge and reject such hatred on an active and vigilant basis.   In addition, we must also set standards for ourselves and other not to respond to hate with hate, but to offer our hope to guide the misguided into a place of respect for human decency and human rights.

We urge all to

Choose Love, Not Hate.  Love Wins.

Be Responsible for Equality And Liberty.

Oslo and Finding the Courage to Change — A Responsibility for All (Part I)

We stand in sympathy and shared mourning with the people of Norway over their loss in the horrific terrorist attack of July 22, 2011 in Oslo. We can only imagine the pain of parents who have lost their children, and the pain of families that have lost their loved ones. They are not just numbers or statistics, but they were unique and special human beings who loved and were loved. As I am writing this, some of the first funerals have ended, and those families and friends have gone home to remember their loved ones.

While we may want to “make sense” of such horrific terrorism against innocent children and people, the truth is there is no rational reason for the monstrous actions that Anders Behring Breivik has confessed to committing.

But as the world watches the courage of the Norwegian people after this terrorist attack, we must also find the courage to urge our society to make changes that would discourage inspiring such individuals as Mr. Breivik. Too many have known too much for too long, and not done enough to stop the rise of hatred in our world. Our sympathies to the Oslo families must not be half-hearted regrets, but must be full-hearted commitment to find ways to change, including standing up for our responsibilities to one another.

We have many freedoms as human beings. But with great freedoms comes great responsibilities. Any cause or campaign for human rights must understand these basic aspects of human society.

Those who work in the vital and passionate cause of human freedom must also remember that the struggle for such universal human rights are for all people. That includes human rights for those we may disagree with, as common brothers and sisters in the human race – the only race that matters.

It has been my privilege to preside over a coalition of individuals passionate about human rights that periodically come together for different human rights issues, coordinated by Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.). We address different human rights issues for people of all nationalities, religions, races, and genders, because equality and liberty is a right for all. When equality and liberty is denied for some, it is our problem as fellow human beings.

Our slogan has been “Choose Love, Not Hate. Love Wins.”

I was surprised to discover how controversial that slogan would be. A number of people have told me how weak it sounds, and how they did not find it sufficiently inspirational to “fight” for human rights. But we are not “fighting,” we are reaching out. We may challenge anti-freedom ideologies, and we may even confront organizations’ activities, but our goal is to reach out to our fellow human beings everywhere for consistency on the cause of our universal human rights.

While we may disagree with the ideas, words, and activities of some, as human beings we must reach out to offer love and our shared human rights to all, including those who would call themselves our enemies. Some may wonder how can we love those who view us as their enemies? But the real question is: how can stand for universal human rights and NOT love our fellow human beings? Our greatest defense for these rights is not our passion for campaigns and causes, but it is our compassion for one another as human beings.

There are some who believe that they can work for human rights, just for one culture, one religion, one race, one group, and not others, because they believe that only their group deserves such rights. That perspective negates the very term “human rights.”

Confessed terrorist Anders Behring Breivik may have believed that human beings in only some groups, religions, and cultures are entitled to human rights, and even life itself. But those who believe in human rights must always reject such exclusionary and supremacist philosophies – and we must never forget the grim results of such thinking. We must always remember that all human beings have human rights, including Mr. Breivik.

The challenge our society faces is how to balance our disagreements with dignity and compassion. For some and in some instances, this may be difficult. But we are reminded by the terrorist attack in Oslo, what happens when we do not make love and dignity for our fellow human beings our first priority.

UK: Five Years After July 7 Terrorist Attacks – A New Direction of Hope

Five years after the July 7 terrorist bombings in London, the UK government is no longer holding any public remembrance of the victims, other than a wreath being sent to a memorial in Hyde Park.  The Global Post’s Michael Goldfarb states that “Wednesday’s anniversary is being marked, well, it’s being marked by nothing.”

But while there may be no official remembrance activities, there are many whose lives and passion for democracy and freedom are living memorials to the July 7 victims, and whose efforts represent a new hope for the United Kingdom in the struggle of ideas.

We have been seeing increasing signs of hope and progress among British Muslims who are taking the lead in supporting secular democracy and human rights as a counter-message to extremists who seek to deny democracy and human rights.  While some analysts believe that fighting terrorism can be measured by tactical achievements or failures, Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) believes that solutions will come from  a consistent support for democracy and our universal human rights from the public, including British Muslim and pro-human rights groups in the struggle of ideas.

We believe that it will be stories such as Tehmina Kazi’s, the director of the British Muslims for Secular Democracy (BMSD), that will make the difference.  We urge you to read the interview with Tehmina Kazi posted on R.E.A.L.’s website today at http://bit.ly/tehmina

While groups such as Anjem Choudary’s Islam4UK and the Hizb ut-Tahrir United Kingdom groups denounce democracy and equality, and on the other extreme, groups such as the English Defence League and the Stop Islamisation of Europe groups are protesting Muslim houses of worship, there are alternatives from those such as the BMSD and its supporters who provide an example in consistent support of democracy, human rights, and human dignity for rest of the United Kingdom and the world.

We urge others in the United Kingdom to follow the example of groups such as BMSD and choose to consistently be responsible for equality and liberty.

Westboro Baptist Church Praises “World Terror”

The Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), listed as a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center, praised “world terror” today.

On June 24, 2010, the Westboro Baptist Church praised “world terror” on its hate group blog “Godsmack,” stating “PRAISE GOD FOR WORLD TERROR!” and “God is your Terrorist!”

The remarks were part of commentary regarding recent terror-suspected arrests involving security procedures involving the G20 summit in Toronto, Canada.

The WBC group has praised terrorist bombings on a Somalia mosque, praised terrorist attacks against Iraqi Christians, and has praised the shooting and the murder of police officers.  At the end of April 2010, the Florida-based Dove World Outreach group decided to support and defend the WBC, and held a joint march with the WBC hate group.   Dove World Outreach’s objective is to promote a message that “Islam is of the Devil.”

A Terrorist Attack We Must NOT Forget

A year ago, on June 10, 2009, in Washington DC, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum was attacked by a white supremacist, Holocaust denier James Von Brunn, who sought to enter the museum with a rifle to kill Jews.  In his murderous rage, he shot and killed black security guard Stephen Tyrone Johns, who was in Von Brunn’s way. The terrorist James Von Brunn was shot and stopped by security guard Harry Weeks and other security guards, and Von Brunn died in a prison hospital on January 6, 2010.

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) has been reporting on the growth of white supremacist and anti-Semitic hatred (as well as other identity group hatred) long before last year’s attack, and long after it.  We have continued to report on the June 10, 2009 Holocaust Memorial Museum attack news reports, as well as the related news not reported by major media outlets.  We pointed out how some sought to use the terrorist attack to prevent hate crime laws from being passed. We pointed out out those who supported Von Brunn’s terrorism and called for further acts of hate and violence.  We pointed out those who sought to promote racial hatred in America’s national capital.  Moreover, we didn’t just passively report such issues, but we held public events to raise awareness on these issues, and we actively protested such hate.  We felt that was part of our obligation in being “responsible for equality and liberty.”

We don’t see anything “left-wing” or “right-wing” about defying such hate.  We just view defying hate as simply following the truths that we hold self-evident as Americans, and the dignity that we should all enjoy as human beings.

We know that the June 10, 2009 terrorist attack was motivated by HATE.

The terrorist Von Brunn himself documented his philosophy in writing to a Nazi sympathizer in Germany, stating that hate was “natural, normal and necessary,” and that “compassionate nations” would “die.”

This philosophy of terrorist hate should give us all pause to reflect.   If anything were to be learned from the June 10, 2009 terrorist attack, it is the cancerous destruction that hate will cause.

In our support for our universal human rights of equality and liberty, we offer another approach.  While we defy hate, we also offer an outstretched hand, not an upraised fist, to those who hate.  We urge those who hate to release such burden of hate from their hearts and to join us in defending our human rights, which are also their human rights.

The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum is intended to remember the worst atrocity committed against an identity group in human history.  When such a place is itself the target of terrorist hatred, it should be a severe warning signal for Americans and all human beings.   But that warning signal has been scrupulously ignored, as has the terrorist attack itself been largely forgotten.  Even worse, some have sought to rationalize hate against other identity groups themselves, and sadly like Von Brunn, have come to view that compassion is only for the weak.

The cancer of hate has continued to spread. Months after the June 10, 2009 terrorist attack, I saw some people with signs in the streets of Washington DC promoting racial hatred, some carrying signs with swastikas, and some with signs spewing vulgar and obscene messages.  Racial supremacist and anti-Semitic groups have sought to promote their cause in our nation’s capital and around the country. On our public airwaves, there are those openly call for bombing houses of worship, who openly promote racist views, who question American legislation designed to guarantee our civil rights, and who ultimately believe that hate is the answer to our nation’s and to the world’s problems.

The lesson that has been taught by the Holocaust has been summarized as “Never Again.”

The lesson that the June 10, 2009 terrorist attack on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum must teach us is “Never Again to Hate.”

That is a lesson that too many are not interested in hearing about.  But if we ever seek to be responsible for equality and liberty, it is our most vital lesson to be learned.

For many reasons, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum terror attack must not be forgotten.  But on June 10, 2010, a year later, there was little interest in remembering it.  Washington DC area mainstream newspapers only posted AP wire reports to their web sites buried in the “local news sections,” and the private remembrance by staff of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum was covered primarily by Washington DC television stations on their web sites that cover “local” news.  Such a terror attack of hate is no longer viewed as “national” news.

In addition to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum‘s private event, the USHMM has also urged citizens to make a donation to the Stephen Tyrone Johns Summer Youth Leadership Program Endowment Fund, and it has posted a web link to some of the comments by Americans over the past year about the attack and the murder of Stephen Tyrone Johns.  We applaud their efforts to remember.

We Will Remember Stephen Tyrone Johns (Photo: U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum)
We Will Remember Stephen Tyrone Johns (Photo: U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum)

In terms of public activism, however, we believe that American citizens also have an obligation to do their part, in remembering this terrorist attack.  We are holding a public event to remember the event.  We also urge those who seek to express their commitment to challenging hate to share your thoughts with us at info@realcourage.org, and we will share your statements on our web site.

On Sunday, June 13 at 2 PM, Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) is hosting a public remembrance in Washington DC of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum attack and the murder of Stephen Tyrone Johns.  We have invited the public to join us in this public remembrance, and to share their testimonies of the need to promote tolerance, dignity, respect, and equality for our fellow human beings.

We will hold this public remembrance at Freedom Plaza in Washington DC, near where Martin Luther King, Jr. worked on his speech “I Have A Dream.” We too, have a dream, of human dignity, of human rights, and of equality and liberty – not just for all American, but also for all human beings.  We have a dream of our fellow human beings united to be responsible for equality and liberty.

But we know that we cannot begin to make that dream a reality without defying and denying the cancerous growth of hatred in our nation, in our society, and around the world.

On June 13, when we publicly remember the terrorist attack on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, our united message will be “Never Again to Hate.”

Choose Love, Not Hate.  Love Wins.

On Sunday June 13, 2010, at 2 PM, Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) invites Washingtonians to a public event to remember the June 10, 2009 attack on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and to remember the loss of Stephen Tyrone Johns.  Choose love, not hate.

We will recall the attack by white supremacist and Holocaust denier James Von Brunn on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum on June 10, 2009, and urge our fellow American to commit to “never again” to such hate and violence.  (Flier for distribution: Microsoft Word format flier 1, Adobe Acrobat format flier 1, Word format flier 2, Adobe Acrobat format flier 2).

We will meet at the Freedom Plaza in Washington DC, near where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. worked on his speech “I Have a Dream,” and will stand united in our diverse religions, ethnicity, and races.  We will stand united for equality.  We will also say “Never Again” to hate.

Freedom Plaza - Washington DC - 14th and Pennsylvania Avenue NW - Site of June 13, 2010 - "Never Again to Hate" Event

We will remember black security guard Stephen Tyrone Johns who was shot to death on June 10, 2009 while on duty defending a museum that stands in remembrance to the Holocaust.  We vow that his death will not be in vain, but that such sacrifices will remind us of the need to be ever-vigilant and defiant against the forces of hate that seek to spread in Washington DC and throughout America.

As those who promote hate seek to create ever-increasing numbers of hate groups in America, our message to them is that America will never retreat on hate.  But we don’t answer hate with hate. Instead of an upraised fist, we offer outstretched hands and hearts to those who do hate, to urge them to release the burden of hate from their hearts, and join us in defending the universal human rights and dignity of all people.

We urge all – Choose Love, Not Hate.  Love Wins.

We also urge all to make a gift to the USHMM Stephen Tyrone Johns Summer Youth Leadership Program Endowment Fund.
