“Anti-Jewish political groups like Hizb-ut-Tahrir seek to have a formal presence on campuses. This is how Ed Hussain, recalling his time as a college student in London, describes what he calls the ‘Islamist control of Muslim student population… At many universities the tactics of confrontation and consolidation of Muslim feeling under the leadership of Hizb activists were being adopted. The Hizb confronted the Jewish…lecturers…. What dumbfounded us was the fact that the authorities on campuses never stopped us.’ Hussain had been attracted to Islamism as a school-boy. A poster in his bed room quoted the famous appeal of Hassan al-Banna, the grandfather of Tariq Ramadan and founder of the Muslim Brotherhood:”

“All over the world students at school or university put up posters of ‘revolutionary’ heroes like Che, or Mao, today Hugo Chavez or Sheik Nazrullah, without thinking through what they really stand for or have done. But how many have gone to sleep having done their homework under a poster urging jihad and expressing a desire for martyrdom?”
“At his college, Hussain helped cover the college walls as well as those in the street outside with a poster reading ‘Islam: The Final Solution’ because ‘deep down, we never really objected to the Holocaust… Without question we despised Jews and perceived a Jewish conspiraracy.’ Like a con-man who changes his name as he moves from town, Hizb is also adept at adopting new guises as it seeks to win over students to its anti-Semitic core beliefs. Islamist spokesmen have denounced Hussain’s expose of Hizb anti-Jewish work on campuses as being a lone example of what happened in the 1990s. Yet the All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into Anti-Semitism reported that in December 2005, the Muslim Public Affairs Committee UK organized a debate under the title ‘Zionism: The Greatest Enemy of the Jews.’ Some of the listed speakers were known to have expressed anti-Semitic opinions on previous occasions and the university cancelled the event. MPACUK riposted on its website saying ‘Jewish Societies’ were the same as ‘Zionist Socities.’ It accused Jewish students of working for Mossad and put up a picture of Spiderman using the classicial anti-Semitic motif of Jews spinning a web of control. In 2002, the University of Manchester Students’ Union discussed a motion that anti-Zionism was not anti-Semitism. The General Union of Palestinian Students distributed a leaflet before the vote which repeated classic anti-Semitic propaganda including the Benjamin Franklin forgery circulated by the Nazis, which claimed the American statesman had written an anti-Jewish tract in the 18th century which called Jews ‘vampires.’ The motion was defeated. The response of the Jew-haters was to throw a brick through the window of a Jewish student residence and a poster with the words ‘Slaughter the Jews’ was stuck on the front door.”
“So Ed Hussain’s description of Islamist anti-Semitism on the campus is far from an isolated example from the 1990s; the Jew-hatred in British universities has intensified this century. In 2005, the Glasgow-based national Scottish paper, The Herald, reported that Hizb, and other Islamist groups with different names but sharing the same political gene pool and anti-Jewish obsessions, were seeking to infiltrate Scottish universities. A Hizb spokesman admitted that the extremist organization was seeking to work ‘in Glasgow, Dundee and Edinburgh universities.’ Al Muhajiroun, the breakaway group from Hizb and arguably even more violent in its anti-Semitism, was also active in Dundee and other universities. According to The Herald, Dundee University ‘said it had no knowledge of radical Islamic groups being active on its campus’ while ‘Edinburgh University said it… did not object to religious groups holding meetings on campus as long as they operated within the law and did not deploy inappropriate tactics.’ But both Hizb and Al Muharjiroun exist to snuff out free speech and replace democracy. They are not religious groups in the same sense as Quakers, or Buddhists, or Mormons, or Orthodox Christians who wish to share their views on faith with others. Hizb and its off-shoots are deeply political and refuse to join in campaigns to condemn attacks on Jews worldwide.”

Schools run by members of the extremist group Hizb ut-Tahrir have had their public funding suspended and will be placed under investigation after the payments were exposed by The Sunday Telegraph.
Government grants totalling £113,000 were paid last year to the Islamic Shakhsiyah Foundation, which runs a nursery and a primary school in Tottenham, north London and a primary in Slough, Berkshire. The grants continued this year, although no figures are available.
The foundation’s lead trustee and “proprietor” of the Slough school is Yusra Hamilton, a leading member of Hizb ut-Tahrir and wife of the group’s main press spokesman, Taji Mustafa.
The public money – from the Government’s Early Years Fund – was paid to help run the nursery school and two Islamic primary schools where children are taught key elements of Hizb’s ideology from the age of five. It was administered by the local authority, Haringey.
In a statement, the Home Office said: “Haringey Council has decided to suspend its allocation of Early Years Funding, to the schools concerned, pending an investigation.”
Hizb regards integration as “dangerous”, says that British Muslims should “fight assimilation” into UK society and opposes all involvement with the “corrupt” state. It wants to create a global Islamic superstate, or “caliphate”, initially in Muslim-majority countries and then across the rest of the world. The former prime minister, Tony Blair, proposed to ban the group and the Conservatives have said that they will do so if they win power.
Other trustees of the Shakhsiyah Foundation who are Hizb members or activists include Farah Ahmed, the head teacher of the Slough school, who has written in a Hizb journal condemning the “corrupt Western concepts of materialism and freedom”.
On their website, the schools say their “ultimate goal” and “foremost work” is the creation of an “Islamic personality” in children. The creation of an “Islamic personality” is a key tenet of Hizb’s ideology. The schools’ history curriculum states that children are taught that “there must be one ruler of the khilafah [caliphate]”. The schools’ website says that “in the glorious history of Islam… the Sharia was the norm”. Children are taught Arabic from the age of three.

Hizb ut-Tahrir: Ideology and Strategy
The CSC published a new report on Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT), a radical Islamist group that Shadow Home Secretary Chris Grayling MP recently promised to ban. Hizb ut-Tahrir: Ideology and Strategy, by CSC researchers Houriya Ahmed and Hannah Stuart, reveals how HT uses front groups to embed itself into communities and deliberately downplays its intolerant beliefs. Members of HT in the UK have founded schools to propagate the party’s ideology and even received government funding.
Based on extensive interviews with former leading members, over a year of fieldwork and previously unpublished internal strategy communiqués from HT’s global leadership, the report is the most comprehensive study of the group’s activities in the United Kingdom to date. The report concludes with a detailed analysis of the policies the government could adopt to limit the influence of HT in the UK.
Covering the report’s findings, the Sunday Telegraph revealed that the Islamic Shakhsiyah Foundation, an HT charity that runs two primary schools – one in Haringey, North London and another in Slough, Berkshire – received £113,411 of government funds. Stuart is quoted as saying:
“Young people who get involved with Hizb ut-Tahrir’s fronts are tricked into believing its radical agenda represents true Islam.”
A week later, the Sunday Telegraph revealed that Haringey Council has now suspended government funds to the Foundation. Ahmed is quoted as saying:
“This suspension of funding is very welcome. It is quite wrong for the British state to be funding groups that want to destroy it.”
Michael Gove MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, asked
“Ideologically HT is no different to al-Qaeda. It is a dangerous and divisive organisation that aims to implement a totalitarian dictatorship that will use violence to spread its rule. HT’s strategy is to propagate its ideology amongst all levels of society and to indoctrinate the population with its extremist belief system, which it presents as ‘true’ Islam. The party’s claim is a lie. Its ideology must be challenged and totally rejected.”
Ahmed spoke about the report’s findings on LBC Radio with Nick Ferrari, and about HT’s activities on the US chat show, Secure Freedom Radio.
British newsmedia have been reporting on the plans of a group in the United Kingdom to hold an October 31 march in London calling for the end to the “oppression of democracy and man-made laws”… stating “We have had enough of freedom”… and calling for Sharia law to replace democracy and freedom in the United Kingdom.
The anti-democracy, anti-freedom, “Islam4UK” organization also calls for an end to “liberalism” in the United Kingdom and demands that “it is time for authority to be turned over to the Muslims.” The “Islam4UK” group’s leader, Anjem Choudary, has praised the 9/11 attackers, sought funding for “mujaheddin,” called for oppression of women, and sought stoning and amputations to be part of Sharia law in the United Kingdom.
The “Islam4UK” group has stated that it plans — “On 31st October 2009, at approximately 1 pm, Muslims will be marching in a spectacular procession in support of Shari’ah law. Never before has such an event taken place in the United Kingdom, as thousands of Muslims plan to take to the heart of the Capital and demand the full implementation of Shari’ah law. Indeed, the British society has suffered extensively from the oppression of democracy and man made law, and the Muslims stand united in saying ‘Enough is enough.’ We have had enough of freedom, and enough of liberalism, it is time for sovereignty to return to the Creator of the heavens and the earth, Almighty Allah (SWT) and it is time for authority to be handed to the Muslims. This march will begin from the Houses of Parliament, followed by 10 Downing Street and culminate in Trafalgar Square, to let the people of Britain know that Islam and the Shari’ah is coming to them very, very soon. According to the news report in the Daily Express, “Plans for the demonstration have been delivered to the Metropolitan Police and could see up to 5,000 extremists marching to demand the controversial system. The procession — dubbed March 4 Shari’ah — will start at the House of Commons, which the group’s website describes as the ‘very place where the lives of millions of people in the UK are changed and it is from here where unjust wars are launched.'”
The Daily Express report also states that the “group then intends to march to 10 Downing Street and ‘call for the removal of the tyrant Gordon Brown from power.’ “The march will then converge on Trafalgar Square where protesters expect it ‘will gather even more support from tourists and members of the public, making clear in the heart of London the need for Shari’ah in society’. The group declared: ‘We hereby request all Muslims in the United Kingdom, in Manchester, Leeds, Cardiff, Glasgow and all other places to join us and collectively declare that as submitters to Almighty Allah, we have had enough of democracy and man-made law and the depravity of the British culture.’ ‘On this day we will call for a complete upheaval of the British ruling system its members and legislature, and demand the full implementation of Shari’ah in Britain.’ ”
Anjem Choudary, the deputy of exiled radical Omar Bakri Muhammed, has been conducting ongoing operations of the “Islam4UK” organization in the United Kingdom.
Choudary praised the 9/11 attackers along with Omar Bakri Muhammed. Choudary has stated that “Violent Extemism is a duty and a struggle and an obligation that lies upon the shoulders of us all. We will not rest until the flag of Allah and the flag of Islam is raised above 10 Downing Street” He has also stated “if you do not fear your home being raided by the Kufar [non-believer] police, you are not enforcing the Sharia.”
As part of his calls for Sharia law in the United Kingdom, Islam4UK’s Anjem Choudary has been reported calling for the enforcement of bukhas on women in the United Kingdom, stating: “Every woman, whether Muslim or non-Muslim, would have to wear a traditional burkha and cover everything apart from her face and hands in public.” Choudary’s calls for Sharia in the United Kingdom have also demanded stoning, stating: “In matters to do with the judicial system and the penal code, one male witness is sufficient to counter the testimony of two females. People who commit adultery would be stoned to death.”

On July 24, 2009, the Daily Mail July 24 reported that: “Exhorting Britain’s 1.8 million Muslims to follow his example, Choudary dreams of seeing the black crescent flag, which is the symbol of his organisation, flying over Downing Street, and a draconian form of sharia law imposed across the UK. He wants alcohol banned, amputations for thieves, and adulterers to be stoned to death.” The Daily Mail report quotes Choudary as praising Sharia-based amputations for thieves, with Choudary stating “It is a deterrent. If you steal, you know you will face having your hands and feet cut off.” In March 2009, Choudary was quoted by numerousnewsservices for threatening homosexuals in the United Kingdom with punishment under Sharia law.
The July 24 Daily Mail report also addressed Anjem Choudary’s “road shows” around the United Kingdom to gain followers for his religious extremist ideology, including small children. The Sunday Mercury has also reported on Choudary’s efforts to “convert” small children to his beliefs in the United Kingdom. Choudary has created a “summer school” for Sharia to indoctrinate children, according to reports.
The Daily Mail has pointed out that Choudary “has been secretly taped urging his followers to raise money for Islamic fighters in Afghanistan and Iraq, saying this would help them kill the ‘butchers and cowards’ from the U.S. and Britain.”
In March 2009, reports of Choudary’s call for Britons to raise funds for the “mujahdeen” were documented by the LondonTimes and the Daily Telegraph. According to the London Times: “At one point on the tape Choudary says: ‘People [are] looking for a place for their money to go so they can go to the front line and they can’t find it. You should not think to yourself ‘my money, my money’ . . . you have [an] opportunity to carry da’wah [the spread of Islam] to society . . . and you have money that can go towards the da’wah, you have money that can go towards the mujaheddin.’ ”

Dalia Mogahed joined the discussion on “What Muslim Women Want” along with UK Hizb ut-Tahrir’s national women’s officer Nazreen Nawaz. According to a report by the Daily Telegraph, the program was “hosted by Ibtihal Bsis, a member of the extremist Hizb ut Tahrir party.”

B. Summary of the Hizb ut-Tahrir Organization
The Hizb ut-Tahrir organization is an international religious extremist organization that has denounces democracy, equality, capitalism, and calls for the creation of a global caliphate. In July 2009, Hizb ut-Tahrir led a public conference in the Chicago suburb of Oak Lawn where they promoted this global extremist caliphate, as well as condemned democracy. In addition, Hizb ut-Tahrir handed out a pamphlet to the estimated 700 attendees in Oak Lawn defends the death penalty for so-called “apostates” – who leave Islam (pages 62 and 68), and that condemned “Women’s groups engaged in gender equality campaigns” (page 13).
Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) and other Chicago protesters rejected Hizb ut-Tahrir’s anti-democratic views and protested in support for democracy and equality. R.E.A.L.’s Jeffrey Imm also addressed direct quotes from the HT’s manifesto, and pointed out that HT states that: “the democratic system… is a Kufr [infidel] system” (page 25); rejects democracy because it “is the rule of people, for the people, by the people” (page 24); “Democratic Capitalism” … “is a Kufr ideology and its ideas are Kufr ideas, and its systems are Kufr systems, and they contradict Islam” (page 24); “freedom of belief, freedom of speech, freedom of ownership of capital and personal freedom”… “are in conflict with Islam” (page 24); “personal freedom does not exist in Islam” (page 24); “liberty and democracy, and the Capitalist and Socialist systems… totally contradict with” Islam (page 7); freedom of religion is denied by HT, whose manifesto states the “Muslim is not free in the matter of his belief because if he apostasizes from Islam, he is asked to return. If he does not, the punishment is death” (page 24).
The Hizb ut-Tahrir’s branch in Malaysia promoted its July 26, 2009 conference for a global Caliphate with an image of a “beheaded” Statue of Liberty and NYC in smoking ruins. The HT web site refers to democracy as “perverted.”

This same Hizb ut-Tahrir blog has also promoted the HT pamphlet (page 62), distributed at Hizb ut-Tahrir’s Oak Lawn conference in the United States, that supports killing those individuals who leave Islam as guilty of “treason and a political attack on the Khilafah.”
C. Additional Background on the Supremacism of Hizb ut-Tahrir
At the July 19 meeting at the Chicago Oak Lawn suburb, HT publicly promoted its goal as the “supremacy” of its extremist view of Islam. HT speaker Dr. Jaleel Abdul-Adil called for conference attendees to achieve such a caliphate, work towards making Islam “supreme on this earth,” or to “die in the attempt.” HT justified its extremist views by stating “every group tries to expand its influence,” while distributing a pamphlet to conference attendees that justified killing Muslims who choose to leave Islam.
The HT pamphlet mocks human rights, freedom, equality, and justifies killing Muslims who choose to leave Islam. It is designed to reject the concept of any type of “Islamic reformation” demanding instead the creation of a caliphate. The HT pamphlet mocks the efforts by Canadian Islamic reformer Irshad Manji (page 6), condemns “Women’s groups engaged in gender equality campaigns” (page 13), claims that challenging the Taliban’s rejection of human rights was merely a ploy “to attack Islam” (page 16), mocks “The Fallacy of Western Universalism” (page 21), mocks “allegedly universal values of secularism, freedom, democracy, Human Rights, pluralism, and the rule of law” (page 23), calls for “Shari’ah rule” (page 39), and demands separate laws for men and women.
The HT brochure defends the death penalty for so-called “apostates” – who leave Islam (pages 62 and 68). On page 62, HT justifies killing other Muslimswho leave Islam because HT views such Muslims as guilty of “treason.”
The HT brochure rejects human equality stating (page 64), “Equality is not the basis of Islam and never has been in the history of Islamic jurisprudence. This is a term alien to Islam.”
In the most recent July 26 London meeting, HT claimed that “thousands” attended its London conference, where HT attacked U.S. President Obama as seeking to “reinterpret the Qu’ran.” In August 2007, Barack Obama identified as America’s enemies those who would create “a repressive caliphate.” Such a caliphate is the primary organizational objective of Hizb ut-Tahrir.
On July 4, 2009, the London Times reported that on followers of Hizb ut-Tahrir leader have called for “the creation of the caliphate in which strict Islamic laws would be rigorously enforced.” It stated that a UK Hizb ut-Tahrir member had moved to Pakistan to promote such a caliphate. The London Times reported that: “Tayyib Muqeem, an English teacher from Stoke-on-Trent, said he had moved to Lahore to convert Pakistanis to the movement.” “At Lahore’s Superior College, where Muqeem has set up a Hizb ut-Tahrir student group, he said the organisation’s aim was to subject Muslim and western countries to Islamic rule under sharia law, ‘by force’ if necessary.” “In a caliphate, ‘every woman would have to cover up’ and stoning to death for adultery and the chopping off of thieves’ hands would be the law, he said.” “He added that Islamic rule would be spread through ‘indoctrination’ and by ‘military means’ if non-Muslim countries refused to bow to it. ‘Waging war’ would be part of the caliphate’s foreign policy.”

Extremist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir’s branch in Malaysia promoted its July 26, 2009 conference for a global Caliphate with an image of a “beheaded” Statue of Liberty and NYC in smoking ruins. The HT web site refers to democracy as “perverted.”

On Monday, July 27, Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) contacted the Mississauga mayor’s office, the entire city council, Recreation and Parks department, and Mississauga law enforcement regarding the Hizb ut-Tahrir event planned at a government-managed facility for July 31. The mayor went out of town; the manager of the Recreation and Parks department we spoke to also went out of town once we spoke to her. Our discussions with mayor’s office were that the “mayor’s office has asked for an investigation on how this happened,” but the mayor’s office representative expected no further action. A member of the Mississauga Recreation and Parks department indicated that the matter was forwarded to their regional police department for an investigation. In discussions with the Peel regional law enforcement, they indicate that the Hizb ut-Tahrir activity is “being investigated,” and that there will be a police presence at the [Hizb ut-Tahrir Canada] event” on Friday, July 31.

1. Hizb ut-Tahrir Seeks to Promote Extremism in Canada
The Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT) Canadian event is publicized on the Hizb ut-Tahrir web site as being sponsored by “Hizb ut-Tahrir Canada” as part of HT’s “2009 Khilafah Campaign,” which included the July 19, 2009 HT event in the Chicago Oak Lawn, IL suburb. HT has advertised this event to be held at the Canadian govt-managed facility in Mississauga for: “Friday, July 31st, 6.30PM to 8.30PM, Frank Bean Lounge — Mississauga Valley Community Center, 1275 Mississauga Valley Blvd, L5A 3R8.” The HT Canada event has also been promoted by a Toronto, Canada website called “TorontoMuslims.com”. (R.E.A.L. contacted this Toronto Muslim website to ask why they were promoting such an extremist organization’s event, and received no reply.)
The Hizb ut-Tahrir web site promoting the July 31 event in Canada also promotes a pamphlet (page 62) that supports killing those individuals who leave Islam as guilty of “treason and a political attack on the Khilafah.”
“318. (1) Every one who advocates or promotes genocide is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years.”
“(2) In this section, ‘genocide’ means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy in whole or in part any identifiable group, namely,”
“(a) killing members of the group; or”
“(b) deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction…”
“(4) In this section, ‘identifiable group’ means any section of the public distinguished by colour, race, religion, ethnic origin or sexual orientation.”
Researcher Madeleine Gruen believes that U.S. member of HT Mohammad Malkawi may speak at the Canadian conference, because Mohammad Malkawi has previously given speeches in Canada. HT’s Mohammad Malkawi moderated the July 19 HT conference in Chicago suburb of Oak Lawn.
2. Efforts to Alert Canadian Government Agencies to HT Supremacist Meeting at Govt-Managed Facility
Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) has attempted to contact the Mississauga government to make them aware of the supremacist nature of the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization that it has rented use of the Mississauga Valley Community Centre Frank Bean Lounge facility to for their July 31 conference. After speaking to a representative at the Community Centre (905-615-4670), we were re-directed to the Mississauga government agency involved in booking the Frank Bean Lounge facility, the Mississauga government recreation and parks department (905-615-4100, choose “facility booking”).
R.E.A.L.’s Jeffrey Imm spoke to a manager with the Mississauga recreation and parks department on this, and she stated that they are “looking into this.” The Mississauga recreation and parks manager also stated the person who made the booking of the Frank Bean Lounge facility for the Canadian Hizb ut-Tahrir meeting had held “previous meetings” there, and Mississauga “never had any problems or issues” with them. On the Mississauga web site regarding renting such facilities, one of the primary concerns is the use of such facilities in terms of serving alcoholic beverages.
We urge those concerned about the growing threat of the Hizb ut-Tahrir supremacist movement and its efforts to justify violence against those who seek freedom of religion to contact Canadian and Mississauga legislators to voice their outrage about this supremacist group using a Mississauga facility. Apparently, this is not the first time such proponents of Hizb ut-Tahrir’s supremacist ideology have used Canadian public facilities either. Contact Canadian and Mississauga government officials to get an answer as to why Canadian public facilities are being used to spread such supremacist hate.
At the July 19 meeting at the Chicago Oak Lawn suburb, HT publicly promoted its goal as the “supremacy” of its view of Islam. HT speaker Dr. Jaleel Abdul-Adil called for conference attendees to achieve such a supremacist caliphate, work towards making Islam “supreme on this earth,” or to “die in the attempt.” HT justified its supremacist views by stating “every group tries to expand its influence,” while distributing a pamphlet to conference attendees that justified killing Muslims who choose to leave Islam.
The HT pamphlet mocks human rights, freedom, equality, and justifies killing Muslims who choose to leave Islam. It is designed to reject the concept of any type of “Islamic reformation” demanding instead the creation of a supremacist caliphate. The HT pamphlet mocks the efforts by Canadian Islamic reformer Irshad Manji (page 6), condemns “Women’s groups engaged in gender equality campaigns” (page 13), claims that challenging the Taliban’s rejection of human rights was merely a ploy “to attack Islam” (page 16), mocks “The Fallacy of Western Universalism” (page 21), mocks “allegedly universal values of secularism, freedom, democracy, Human Rights, pluralism, and the rule of law” (page 23), calls for “Shari’ah rule” (page 39), and demands separate laws for men and women.
The HT brochure defends the death penalty for so-called “apostates” – who leave Islam (pages 62 and 68). On page 62, HT justifies killing other Muslimswho leave Islam because HT views such Muslims as guilty of “treason.” (W. Heffening and others have stated that such calls for killing ex-Muslims is based on the opinions of others, not based on direct calls from the Qu’ran.)
The HT brochure rejects human equality stating (page 64), “Equality is not the basis of Islam and never has been in the history of Islamic jurisprudence. This is a term alien to Islam.”
In the most recent July 26 London meeting, HT claimed that “thousands” attended its London conference, where HT attacked U.S. President Obama as seeking to “reinterpret the Qu’ran.” In August 2007, Barack Obama identified as America’s enemies those who would create “a repressive caliphate.” Such a supremacist caliphate is the primary organizational objective of Hizb ut-Tahrir.
5. Extremist Hizb ut-Tahrir Groups Condemned by Muslims
The extremist Hizb ut-Tahrir group has also been condemned by various Muslims around the world.
Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, President of The American Islamic Forum for Democracy (AIFD) has stated that “Hizb ut-Tahrir’s actions, ideologies and mission are unacceptable” to Muslims.
Junaid Afeef, executive director of the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago, has stated that Hizb ut-Tahrir is “antithetical to what we believe.”
British Muslim Ed Husain, a former member of the Hizb ut-Tahrir, states in his book “The Islamist” that “Hizb ut Tahrir calls for an expansionist, violent, totalitarian Islamist state” and that HT’s “mindset”… “does not recognize the sacred nature of human life.” Ed Husain says that, under HT’s ideology, “entire populations would submit to an army of the caliph, or face extinction.” Ed Husain’s book quotes Hizb ut-Tahrir founder Taqiuddin al-Nabhani: “The Islamist does not flatter the people, is not courteous to the authorities or care for the people’s customs and traditions, and does not give any attention to whether people will accept him or not.”
6. R.E.A.L. on the History of Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT)
At the July 19 Oak Lawn, IL pro-freedom conference challenging Hizb ut Tahrir, Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.)’s Jeffrey Imm spoke to Chicago area protesters about Hizb ut-Tahrir’s history and goals. He explained Hizb ut-Tahrir’s (HT) history since 1953 in seeking to develop an international organization to implement a supremacist caliphate, and how Hizb ut-Tahrir has been building an organization for the past 10 years covertly in America. The July 19 Oak Lawn conference, Imm stated, represented Hizb ut-Tahrir America’s (HTA) belief that they can now begin their more public “Stage Two” (as described in the HT manifesto) of their process of developing a supremacist caliphate. This “Stage Two” represented HT’s belief that a public outreach to their objectives for promoting such a caliphate should now be initiated.
Imm also pointed to the ultimate objective of the HT’s supremacist caliphate to create a multi-national “state” that would allow them to further promote and enforce supremacist rule through this “caliphate.” To that end, HT’s manifesto rejects what they call “Democratic Capitalism,” which is how HTA managed to manipulate the public and the press into believing their July 19 Oak Lawn conference was merely about “economics,” by titling their conference “The Fall of Capitalism and the Rise of Islam.”
In fact, Imm addressed that HT is opposed not only to capitalism, but also to democracy itself. Referencing direct quotes from the HT’s manifesto, Imm pointed out that HT states that:
— “the democratic system… is a Kufr [infidel] system” (page 25)
— rejects democracy because it “is the rule of people, for the people, by the people” (page 24)
— “Democratic Capitalism” … “is a Kufr ideology and its ideas are Kufr ideas, and its systems are Kufr systems, and they contradict Islam” (page 24)
— “freedom of belief, freedom of speech, freedom of ownership of capital and personal freedom”… “are in conflict with Islam” (page 24)
— “personal freedom does not exist in Islam” (page 24)
— “liberty and democracy, and the Capitalist and Socialist systems… totally contradict with” Islam (page 7)
— freedom of religion is denied by HT, whose manifesto states the “Muslim is not free in the matter of his belief because if he apostasizes from Islam, he is asked to return. If he does not, the punishment is death” (page 24)
Regarding HT’s support for a supremacist caliphate, Imm pointed out that while the immediate stated goal of HT was the creation of a supremacist caliphate in so-called “Muslim countries,” the longer term goal was to use this international caliphate to further spread supremacism around the world. To that end, Imm pointed out the goals of the HT are to create a supremacist caliphate army, and calls for “every Muslim male at age 15 must be given jihad training” (page 37). Moreover, as HT has told the press, once the supremacist caliphate was in place, nations “allowed” to continue to be “non-Muslim” would have the choice of paying a tax to the supremacist caliphate, or according to HT “if non-Muslim countries refused to pay the tax, the caliphate would launch military attacks against them.”
