Tennessee: White Male Terrorist Attacks Theater with Hatchet and Gun

Nashville, Tennessee media WKRN is reporting that a 29-year-old white male attacked a movie theater in Antioch, TN, with a hatchet and a gun, spraying chemical pepper spray on those in the theater, while he wore a mask. Three people were injured and he injured one man with his axe. The man was shot by police after they wore gas masks and entered the theater, while the terrorist sought to flee out the back door.

He had two backpacks which were “hoax bombs” intended to delay police while he escaped.

White Terrorists Shoot at Military; Others Build Bombs

On August 4, 2015, two white male terrorists are being sought in connection with shootings at a U.S. military group at the Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center in Mississippi, which reportedly was part of “Jade Helm 15” training exercise.  The men got off a number of gunshots at U.S. military from outside the camp, but there are no reported injuries.

The men were believed to be driving a maroon Ford Ranger truck reportedly with “broken arrow” message on top, which has been found.

They remain at large, however.

The phrase “broken arrow” is a coded phrase used as a military signal asking for help “when a unit or camp is overrun.”  Those with information regarding the incident, are asked to contact the Perry County authorities at 601-964-8461.

In a related case on August 1, 2015, the FBI arrested three men in North Carolina for developing bombs as part of their planned opposition to the “Jade Helm 15″ training exercise.  The FBI reports that ” 50, Christopher James Barker, 41, of Gastonia, and Christopher Todd Campbell, 30, of Mt. Holly, NC ., were arrested on Saturday, August 1, 2015, for conspiring to violate federal laws governing firearms and explosive devices and related charges, announced Acting United States Attorney Jill Westmoreland Rose of the Western District of North Carolina.”   ABC reported that “On June 18 law enforcement received information that Litteral and Barker were attempting to make explosives.”

“White Nationalists” and other extremist groups, such as the “American 3rd Party” have been inciting the public that the military training exercise operation is a plan to take over America.

“Life Unworthy of Life”? Body Parts, Organ Harvesting, and Universal Human Rights

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) seeks to promote a consistent stand in support of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for all people. These universal human rights include the dignity and security of our fellow human beings. This is specifically stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) Article 3 “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person” and in Article 1 “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.” This is what the nations of the world have agree to for over 60 years.

The challenge for those who respect such human rights is to hold the world accountable to these declarations, including the challenge to the Nazi Eugenics based concept of “organ harvesting” from those whose lives the Nazis felt had “life unworthy of life.”

R.E.A.L.’s support for such universal human rights and dignity has included past R.E.A.L. campaigns to protest the sales of body parts from prisoners in Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-controlled China, including reports of body parts obtained from prisoners of conscience who follow the Falun Gong practice, a practice that the CCP-controlled Chinese totalitarians view as “body part harvesting.” R.E.A.L. promotes petitions to call for the end of such organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitoners.

On the issue of such “organ harvesting” of the Falun Gong, transplant doctor Tom Treasure has written: “If Matas and Kilgour are correct, the organs come from incarcerated members of an innocent sect—and the perpetrators are of necessity medical practitioners. As the allegation unfolds, the story seems horrific to the point of being almost beyond belief. So alarmed was I on learning of this allegation that I struggled to make sense of it. The element of the story that horrifies me most, if it is true, is that it is my medical colleagues, the doctors, who perpetrate these acts.”

R.E.A.L. has also challenged the criminal practice in selling the body parts of such Chinese prisoners to German and American groups who made ghoulish life size replications of denuded dead bodies of human beings and their body parts for the entertainment of others.

The challenge of body part sales of those who do so unwillingly by force, as well as those impoverished and desperate individuals who are forced by extreme economic oppression, is an issue which people of conscience must consider in respecting our shared universal human rights.

For context, we must remember that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), signed on December 10, 1948, by the nations of the world, including the United States and China, was a response to atrocities by the Nazi Germans during World War II.

The UDHR begins with noting that such “disregard and contempt for human rights have resulted in barbarous acts which have outraged the conscience of mankind.” These barbarous acts have included Nazis committing experimentation on live bodies, as well as the murder of children, Russians, political prisoners, and Jewish people for their body parts.

Dr. Tom Treasure writes that: “In the 1930s the first steps on the road to the holocaust were taken—and they were taken with the complicity of doctors. How this came about merits attention for, if we do not recognize the facts and understand how it happened, how can we guard against it happening again?”

As reported by Emily Bazelon, “The Max Planck Society admitted that its collection contained the tissue of euthanasia victims—including 700 children.”

The Nazis provided body parts from the Holocaust to medical institutions throughout Europe. Reports have recently surfaced of such body parts of victims of the Holocaust turning up in France, as they have appeared in collections of human body parts and specimens throughout Europe.  On July 19, 2015, the Independent reported that the “remains of 86 Jewish Holocaust victims used for human experiments by Nazis found hidden in Strasbourg lab” in France.

Emily Bazelon reports that “In June 1945, a Boston neurologist named Leo Alexander, a consultant for the United States secretary of war, visited Julius Hallervorden, a doctor and member of the Nazi Party who in 1938 became head of the neuropathology department of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Brain Research (one of the world’s pre-eminent psychiatric research centers, with a building financed in the 1920s by the Rockefeller Foundation). Hallervorden showed Alexander a collection of 110,000 brain samples from 2,800 people. Hallervorden said that with the director of his institute, Hugo Spatz, he had harvested the brains of victims of the T-4 killings—the Nazi program to gas psychiatric patients at six “euthanasia’ centers in Germany and Austria. ‘Hallervorden was present at the time of the killings and removed brains from the murdered victims,’ Seidelman writes. Alexander reported what he learned, but no one took action against Hallervorden and Spatz. They were allowed to help relocate the Kaiser Wilhelm institute to Frankfurt, Germany, where it was renamed the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research.” (and where it continues to exist today).

German Nazi Doctors Hallervorden and Spatz were involved in Nazi atrocities in studying the brains of euthanasia victims from the Holocaust

In describing his concern about modern day organ transplants from Chinese victims, Dr. Tom Treasure recounts that the Nazi actions against human dignity and defiling of bodies (living and dead) to rob them of their organs, began with the idea that some human beings do not deserve the universal human right of life. He writes that “Their state was captured in the German phrase lebensunwertes Leben meaning ‘life unworthy of life'”.

But the process of removing the body parts and organs of the powerless and the poor has been with us much longer than the Nazi violence, and we have seen it as part of the history of white supremacy in the United States – either directly or indirectly.

Emily Bazelon has also reported: “In the United States, medical students robbed graves, often of African-Americans. ‘In Baltimore the bodies of colored people exclusively are taken for dissection because the whites do not like it, and the colored people cannot resist,’ a British travel writer observed in 1838. When paupers were the target of body snatching, the practice was justified by their poverty. ‘Why would those who have made war on society or have been a burden to it be permitted to say what shall be done with their remains?’ the Washington Post asked in an 1877 editorial. ‘Why should they not be compelled to be of some use after death, having failed to be of value to the world during life?’ ”

Such use of African-Americans and African-American slaves bodies as “organ donors” has been reported in other studies such as “The Use of Blacks for Medical Experimentation and Demonstration in the Old South” (by Todd L. Savitt) in the Journal of Southern History,  as well as E. C. Halperin’s study on this subject (posted with the U.S. N.I.H.), concluding that “Enslaved and free African Americans, immigrants, and the poor were frequently the target of grave robbing. The politically powerful tolerated this behavior except when it affected their own burial sites. Slave owners sold the bodies of their deceased chattel to medical schools for anatomic dissection.”

Reports on “Night Doctors” stated African-Americans were killed by some doctors to be used for dissections.  In one report, Johns Hopkins Hospital was believed to be a source of “needle men” and the “black bottle men” (poisons given to African-Americans so that they could die and be used in dissections.) They were thought to kidnap African Americans right off the street. A woman from the book The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks states that “You’d be surprised how many people disappeared in East Baltimore when I was a girl. I’m telling you, I lived here in the fifties when they got Henrietta, and we weren’t allowed to go anywhere near Hopkins. When it got dark and we were young, we had to be on the steps, or Hopkins might get us.”

Grave-Robbers

People around the world from impoverished countries continue to face a new type of slavery – moving from slavery of labor to their organs.  Such slavery and persecution of the bodies of the powerless and impoverished is a rejection of our shared universal human rights.

If we support the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), then we must reject the concept of racial, fascist, or other oppressive powers who decide that the lives of some are “not worthy of life.”   This universal human right is not for some lives, but for all lives of our fellow human beings.  It is a fundamental human right agreed to by the nations of the world.

We must consistently reject the idea that such powerless individuals’ bodies can be used to “harvest” their organs without their consents and as part of social and economic oppression of minority groups.

In the United States, yet another aspect of this ethical challenge to human rights of life and human dignity is being reported.  The American news media is currently reporting on a breaking news story regarding the Planned Parenthood organization in Houston, Texas, where it is alleged that videos are being released which indicate that that some members of this organization sought  compensation for fetal tissue from fetuses who were aborted.  Planned Parenthood, which performs many functions to help women, denies this allegation.  The current reporting on this breaking story has been based on the type and focus of compensation, with some stating the compensation was for logistics, as the selling of fetal tissue for profit is illegal (42 U.S. Code § 289g–2).   The latest story is currently being reportedly largely by political groups on one side or another.  But these issues must be considered not as a matter for political debate, but as larger issues for human rights debate. Without question, our universal human rights includes the support for women and all of their rights, including their right to have control over their body.

Regardless of outcome of this specific incident (still under investigation), those in support of our shared universal human rights must affirm that organ harvesting of those without a say in the matter is yet a different matter.  Where we respect life as a universal human right, this provides a common moral compass to assess whether such actions respect the integrity and dignity, as part of our common universal human rights.

Given what we know of the history of human rights abuses regarding organ trafficking and body parts, human rights activists must hold medical organizations to a standards that respects the value of human life, human dignity, and that understands the amoral path that organ trafficking of the powerless leads our society.

If we support consistency in our universal human rights, we must be watchful for the idea that we have the right to decide for others whose “‘life is unworthy of life.”

Regardless of their race, philosophy, religion, economic status, and ability to defend their life and their body, their universal human rights must be defended.

Maryland: White City Govt Defends Firing African-American Police Chief

White city leaders of the Maryland shore town of Pockomoke City held a meeting on August 3, 2015 to defend their actions in firing African-American police chief Kelvin Sewell.  In addition, according to the AP, “The Justice Department sent community affairs representatives to a church gathering to listen to residents’ concerns.”  The AP reported that there were “sharp exchanges between audience members, the mayor and Councilman George Tasker, who was accused of referring to supporters of Sewell as ‘you people.’ ”

Chief Sewell has stated that he was fired on June 29, 2015, because he refused demands by Pockomoke City Mayor Bruce Morrison, the city manager, and the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office that he fire two fellow African-American police officers who filed complaints saying they had been treated unfairly.  The other two African-American police  officers, Franklin L. Savage and Lt. Lynell Green,  had EEOC complaints that they were working in a hostile, racist working environment.

Chief-Kelvin-Sewell

The Washington Post states that “The officers alleged in complaints with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission that they faced racism that was overt and rampant — allegations the city denies. Among the incidents alleged: a food stamp superimposed with President Obama’s face that was left on a black detective’s desk and a text message that read, ‘What is ya body count nxxxx?’ ”

Andrew G. McBride, co-counsel for the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, told the Washington Post that “This is one of the most egregious cases of primary racial discrimination and retaliation for assertion of rights before the EEOC that I’ve seen.”  “Chief Sewell has a fantastic record as a police officer. He was terminated because he stood up for two African American officers who filed an EEOC complaint.”

The Post report states that:

“Its current troubles began three years ago when detective Franklin L. Savage was detailed to the Worcester County Criminal Enforcement team. The eight-member task force was made up of officers from Ocean City, Dorchester County, Maryland State Police and Pocomoke City. Savage was the only African American assigned to it.  Savage said that during his two years on the task force, he was consistently subjected to racism and discrimination, including the repeated use of the ‘n-word’ and references to the Ku Klux Klan.  In December 2013, he walked outside for a lunch break and found a bloody deer tail on the windshield of his unmarked police car, he said in his EEOC complaint. A group of white officers stood nearby, laughing. Four months later, he alleged, the food stamp with Obama’s face superimposed on it was left on his desk. Savage, now 35, reported the incidents to his supervisor, but he said the behavior did not stop. ‘Each day I went to work, I felt hurt, ashamed and confused. Racism still exists,’ Savage said. ‘And we took an oath to do the right thing each day.’  The Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division eventually found that Savage’s complaints against one corporal were justified and promised in a letter that the offender would be punished.”

“Last year, Savage returned to the Pocomoke City police department, where he said the harassment and discrimination continued. Savage said he was stripped of his title of detective and moved to administrative duty, checking computer serial numbers and clearing old files. He filed a complaint with the EEOC on July 21, 2014. Lt. Lynell Green said the harassment against him began after he attended a mediation session in support of Savage.  ‘It all started when I stood behind Detective Savage,’ said Green, 49, who said his overtime pay was cut. ‘I’ve never experienced anything like that in my life.’  Green, a former Baltimore police officer who began working for Pocomoke City in 2011, filed an EEOC complaint March 15. ”

“During this time, Sewell said he was being pressured by Mayor Bruce Morrison, the city manager and the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office to fire the officers. Sewell filed an EEOC complaint March 9 and was fired after a 4-to-1 vote by the city council three months later.”

AP reports that “Diane Downing, the lone black member of the five-person council and sole vote against firing Sewell, said city officials and outside authorities wanted Savage fired because he could not be trusted after filing his EEOC complaint and would not be allowed to testify in court cases.”

Kelvin-Sewell-Protest

Parts of the Maryland shore have been known for a greater tolerance of racist behavior and support for police brutality.  We know the majority of people respect human rights and dignity, and we urge them to continue to speak out against such abuses.  R.E.A.L. challenged the views of a Wicomico sheriff’s office in June 2015.

Report: 130 Blasphemy Cases Against Pakistan Christians

Father James Channan, O.P., the former Vice Provincial of the Dominican order in Pakistan, is director of the Dominican-run Peace Center in Lahore, Pakistan, and provided an interview to a Catholic charity on the conditions of persecution of minority Pakistan Christians. In that interview, when asked about the number of Pakistan Christians imprisoned for blasphemy, he stated: ” there are 130 Christians whose trials are proceeding.” He also made clear that this cruel and unjust “blasphemy law” was regularly abused as “a tool to settle business disputes or personal vendettas.”

Father Channan also reported that this blasphemy law is also used against Muslims (who are the vast majority of Pakistanis), with 950 Muslims charged with blasphemy (as R.E.A.L has also reported on). He clarified however that: “there is a big difference between accusations of Muslims and Christians: if one Muslim is accused, just one Muslim is accused. But in the case of a Christian being accused, an entire community, an entire neighborhood is accused. And in several cases the entire Christian village or a Christian neighborhood has been burned to ashes.”

R.E.A.L. supports our Universal Human Rights for all people, including the freedom of religion, equality, security, and dignity, as defined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the  International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR),

Pakistan is a party to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) ratified as of June 23, 2010, as well as a signatory to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.  The Pakistan religious oppression of minorities, such as its repressive Blasphemy Law is in direct contradiction to its international agreement of ICCPR Article 18, which includes “1. Everyone shall have the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion.”

We urge all – in Pakistan and around the world – to be responsible for equality and liberty.

West Bank: Israeli Extremist Terrorist Attack on Palestinians in Duma Leaves Child Dead

A terrorist attack against Palestinians has led to the death of a 18 month old baby and the injury of 3 others in the West Bank town of Duma, near Nablus.   The child murdered in the terrorist attack was named Ali Saad Dawabsha.  Current reports state that his four-year-old brother of the Dawabsha family is being treated; the boy is in critical condition.

The child’s parents and four-year-old brother were flown by helicopter to an Israeli hospital where they were said to be in serious condition and the four-year old child is in critical condition.  In addition to the attack  on the Dawabsha family house, a second house in the Duma village was also set ablaze, but no one was at home.  One Duma resident said that he saw two masked terrorists outside the houses.

This was another of the West Bank “Price Tag” terrorist attacks.  The New York Times’ Isabel Kershner writes that the so named “Price Tag” terrorist attacks are from extremists among West Bank Israeli settlers who “exact a price from local Palestinians or from the Israeli security forces for any action taken against their settlement enterprise.”  CNN reports that: “A preliminary investigation shows suspects entered the village at night, set homes ablaze and sprayed graffiti on them.”

Israel’s Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu stated “This is a terrorist attack. Israel takes firm action against terrorism, no matter who its perpetrators are.” He also stated “I have ordered the security forces to use all means at their disposal to apprehend the murderers and bring them to justice.”  He also described this as a “terror attack in every way.”

After visiting the 4 year old brother of Ali Saad Dawabsha who is in critical condition, PM Netanyahu stated: “It is difficult to stand next to the bed of such a boy when you know his young brother was murdered and you ask, ‘Why was this terrible deed done?’ Terrorism is terrorism is terrorism. We will catch the murderers and bring them to justice.”

Israel Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon referred to the terrorist attack and the death of baby Ali Dawabsha as “a most severe terrorist act that we cannot tolerate, and we condemn in every way.”   Israel Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon stated  that he would not tolerate “Jewish terrorist” attacks, and stated that “We will not allow Jewish terrorists to harm the lives of Palestinians across Judea and Samaria. We will fight them in every way, with every tool at our disposal.”  He sent out his condolences to the Dawabsha family and requested restraint from the public “to allowing security forces to carry out their mission of capturing the murderers.”

Knesset Member Yair Lapid stated that : “Terrorists entered at night and set fire to a baby. As always, the IDF is going to war against the enemy. Only this time the enemy is from here, from inside, from within us. ” “They are traitors to all that is sacred to us, traitors to the very idea on which the State of Israel was founded, traitors to Judaism.”

The U.S. Department of State condemned this “vicious terrorist attack.”

State-Department-Duma

Reuters reports that this is one of the worst acts of violence by Israeli assailants since a 16 year old Palestinian boy,  Mohammed Abu Khdeir, was burned to death in Jerusalem a year ago. That followed the kidnapping and killing of three Israeli teenagers by Palestinian militants in the West Bank.

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) has posted a listing of over 130 “Price Tag” terrorist attacks.   The Israeli government needs to recognize such “Price Tag” terrorism as the hate crime terrorist acts that they are, and not continue to dither whether such attacks are “terrorism” or not .  This monstrous terrorist attack on this Palestinian family in Duma needs to be the wake up call for Israel to change its policies.   It is past time for the Israel government to fully recognize such West Bank terrorist attacks as “terrorism” so that the appropriate resources and legal mechanisms can be put in place to act on such terrorism.  There have been hundreds of attacks on homes, mosques, churches, and individuals by such terrorists, who MUST BE STOPPED.  Last month in June 2015, R.E.A.L. also reported on such a “Price Tag” terrorist attack on a Christian Church in Galilee; once again people were arrested but then let go by the Israeli authorities.  It is past time for the Israeli government to be firm in the arrest, conviction, and punishment of such terrorists.

West Bank: Hundreds of “Price Tag” Terror Attacks on Palestinians

The West Bank has been the scene of hundreds of “Price Tag” terrorist and vandalism attacks on Palestinians, Palestinian homes, Islamic mosques, Christian churches, and even on other Jewish facilities.  These attacks have also called for the death of identity groups, with painted slogans such as “death to Arabs,” “death to Christians.”  Terrorists have used firebombs and other tools to regularly commit arson during these attacks.   Such West Bank “Price Tag” terrorist attacks, so named because terrorist extremists among West Bank Israeli settlers “exact a price from local Palestinians or from the Israeli security forces for any action taken against their settlement enterprise.”  The July 31, 2015 terrorist attack in Duma, resulted in the death of an 18 month old baby, Ali Saad Dawabsha.

18 Month Old Palestinian Baby Murders in West Bank Terrorist Attack
18 Month Old Palestinian Baby Murders in West Bank Terrorist Attack

The U.S. State Department’s Country Reports on Terrorism routinely reject such “Price Tag” acts as part of terrorism.  The 2013 U.S. State Department stated: “attacks by extremist Israeli settlers against Palestinian residents, property, and places of worship in the West Bank continued and were largely unprosecuted.”  The 2014 U.S. State Department report stated the majority of such attacks “did not result in prosecutions.”  The report stated: “Attacks by violent extremists – both Israelis against a joint Arab-Israeli school and Palestinian residents, property, and places of worship, and Palestinians against Israelis – in Israel, Jerusalem, and the West Bank continued. Israeli President Reuven Rivlin spoke out against extremist violence and “price tag” attacks (property crimes and violent acts by extremist Jewish individuals and groups in retaliation for activity they deemed to be anti-settlement) on multiple occasions, as did Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.”  It continued that ” legal cases against violent extremists responsible for “price tag” attacks began making their way through the Israeli judicial system, although investigations by the Israeli authorities in the majority of such attacks did not result in prosecutions.”

In response to the July 31, 2015 terrorist attack in Duma, Israel’s Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu stated “This is a terrorist attack. Israel takes firm action against terrorism, no matter who its perpetrators are.” He also stated “I have ordered the security forces to use all means at their disposal to apprehend the murderers and bring them to justice.”

In January 2014, however, the Times of Israel reported that a key Israeli government cabinet committee rejected a bill that aimed to define “Price Tag” attacks as acts of terrorism.  Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) urges the full Israeli government recognize the terrorist nature of such “Price Tag” attacks.  According to the Times of Israel, the January 2014 bill was “several months after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu struck down a recommendation by Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch and the Shin Bet security services to apply the designation of terror to Price Tag assailants.”

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) views all such terrorist attacks as an attack on our Universal Human Rights, shared by all people around the world. The terrorist attacks on houses of worship are a direct attack on our shared human rights of freedom of worship.  We note that Israel government regularly rejects such terrorist attacks, and has arrested individuals responsible for some of these attacks.

In addition to R.E.A.L.’s previous reports on West Bank “Price Tag” terrorism, there has been over 130 documented “Price Tag” terrorist and vandalism attacks, although research indicates the number is higher.  We provide the following listing which is sourced from Wikipedia research:

The terrorist attack took place on July 30, 2015, in a village near Youhanabad (11 miles from Lahore), after repeated threats by Nadia’s family due to her religious beliefs.

The Pakistan Christian couple had been repeatedly threatened by the wife’s family, reportedly due to her conversion from Islam to Christianity, and the couple had filed court papers to seek protection from such threats.  After repeated threats, the couple had fled to Narang Mandi (about 37 miles away from Lahore), and where they could not be found.  But when Nadia went to a doctor in a village near Youhanabad, she was apparently recognized. Members of her family came to attack her and husband.

The report states Nadia’s father (Muhammad Din Meo) kidnapped the couple by gunpoint and drove them to a remote location where Nadia’s brothers brutally beat and shot them.  The terrorist attack resulted in the death of Aleem Masih and serious injury of his wife Nadia.

Aleem Masih was shot in his ankle, stomach, and through his mouth, which instantly killed him. Nadia’s brother Muhammad Azhar shot her repeatedly and believed that she was dead, and sought to brag about his terrorist murder on the Christian woman.  The terrorist called all Christians “dogs” and claimed that they all should be killed.

Muhammad Azhar was arrested by the police.  The Pakistan Christian Post reports that the “FIR (First Information report) got registered under sections 302, 324, 34, 148, 149 PPC and FIR No. is 945/15. ”

When the police came to arrest Muhammad Azhar, Nadia Masih was found to be still alive.  Local supporters of Muhammad Azhar’s terrorist attack prevented police from getting a statement from Nadia Masih on the attacks.  She remains in the hospital in critical condition.  It is uncertain if she will survive.

Naeem Masih, the brother of murdered Christian Aleem Masih states that his friend, Hanooq Yaqoob, witnessed the terrorist shooting of the Christian couple.   The Pakistan Christian Post reports that  Naeem Masih’s wife stated that  she “told the Voice team that she heard the people of the Village shouting and rejoicing at the murder of Aleem and saying that they can send their sons to death happily if they kill more Christians.”

In March 2015, Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) reported on the terrorist attacks on Protestant and Catholic Christian Churches by the Taliban killing 15 Christians and injuring 80.  These terrorist attacks were also in the Youhanabad area near Lahore.  Pakistan Christian Congress leader Nazir Bhatti stated in March 2015 that “Violence is rising against Christians in Punjab province where incidents of burning alive Christian children, women and men happen on pretext to blasphemy law while setting on fire homes of Christians is matter of every week and culprits walk free on street.”  Members of civil society have been calling for law enforcement and government action to stop such continuing terrorism. Geo TV reports that suspects have been arrested in the March 2015 attack, but details are not yet available.

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) calls for the rule of law and end to such mob terrorist behavior against Pakistan Christians and other religious minorities in Pakistan.  R.E.A.L. supports our Universal Human Rights for all people, including the freedom of religion, equality, security, and dignity, as defined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the  International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR),

Holocaust Mocked by Ohio State University Band Members

As too many around the world continue to recognize the continuing threat of Nazi terrorist activity, Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) was sad to see a report from the Wall Street Journal about a book of “satire,” “comedy” music distributed by college band members, which mocks the Holocaust.  It reported the Ohio State University Marching Band (OSUMB) created a book of “parody songs,” which denigrated people of minority identity groups.  R.E.A.L. is also aware that OSUMB song book also had a song for Adolf Hitler singing about him killing Jewish people as part of their “comedy” songs (which was clearly part of their “parody” songs at least since 2006).

In the most recent OSUMB “parody song book” the members distributed a song called “Goodbye Kramer,” which mocked the Holocaust.  The Wall Street Journal reported that the song mocking the Holocaust made “joking references to furnaces used in Nazi concentration camps and the train cars used to transport Jews to their deaths.”  The Wall Street Journal reported that the contemptible song had “lines about Nazi soldiers ‘searching for people livin’ in their neighbor’s attic,’ and a ‘small town Jew…who took the cattle train to you know where.’ ”  The Wall Street Journal reports additional details on graphic, disgusting remarks mocking the Holocaust in the OSUMB song book, which R.E.A.L. will not republish here.  The detailed lyrics in the OSUMB Holocaust mockery song clearly demonstrate there were sung by those with no conscience and no respect for human life and dignity.

Former band member Lee Auer, who is now a band instructor in central Ohio, told the WSJ that he knew the parody song book was fun: “It was fun for me as an individual, but we knew if the public ever caught wind of them, people are going to lose respect. Now, I feel worse about it than I ever did. ”  But let’s be clear, Mr. Lee Auer is not concerned that it was WRONG, he is concerned about whether people will lose respect for him.  He doesn’t make a public statement apologizing that it was morally and ethically wrong.  His concern then, as now, is only for himself.

The Daily Mail also reports that the OSUMB “parody tune written by members of the controversy-riddled band included references to furnaces used in Nazi concentration camps and the train cars used to transport Jews to their deaths.”

What none of the media has reported is that this OSUMB “parody song book” also had an earlier version in 2006 with a song for Adolf Hitler called “The Hitler Song,” where members of the OSUMB band sang “Kill the Jews all night, Kill the Jews all day.”

The OSUMB song book introduction stated it was including the Holocaust mockery song as a new edition with instructions to the OSUMB members: “Some of these [songs] may be offensive to you. If so, you can either ignore them, or you can suck it up, act like you got a pair and have a good time singing them.”  The disturbed OSUMB found a moral equivalence with obscene attacks in contempt of human rights and a form of “courage.”  Responsible for Equality And Liberty declares that contempt for our shared universal human rights and dignity is not any form of courage at all.  It is nothing less than the epitome of cowardice.

R.E.A.L. has also posted representative public comments to the Wall Street Journal on this disgrace by Americans respecting human rights and dignity from average citizens as: Aviva Sucher, John Butler, Jeffrey Sonheim, David Perez, Douglas Wasserman, Steven McDonald, and Jerry Knoski. In Jerry Knoski’s comment rejecting such contempt for the Holocaust, one of the replies he gets back is “Don’t ever watch ‘The Producers’! It may even make you laugh.”

As Jeffrey Sonheim writes, this “kind of hatred, once tolerated, then gets the nerve to become a tiny bit more open, Then ever so slowly cascades into total openness as hatred finds a home.” Closing his comment, most appropriately, with “When do you intend to grow up?”

The OSUMB band was brought to Washington, D.C. four times to march in presidential inaugurations.

The existence of the OSUMB band “parody” song book first came to light in July 2014, after an investigation into the band’s culture.  In 2014, the band director, Jonathan Waters was fired, after what the investigation found was a “deep culture of sexual harassment and sexualized behavior existed in the band.”  The report also stated “many if not all of the traditions predate Waters.”  In the report, it also indicated that a mocking nickname for one of the Jewish members of the band was used.

The Wall Street Journal could not reach former OSUMB band director Jon Woods, who was band director in 2012 according to the WSJ, for comment.  Jonathan Waters was the assistant band director and been with the band since 2002.

Three words for the OSUMB and its leaders:  SHAME ON YOU.

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) stands by the B’nai B’rith in its condemnation of this “satire” mocking the Holocaust, as R.E.A.L. stands in defiance of all racist symbols of hate.  As R.E.A.L. protesters were recently told to our faces by a young man in Maryland at our protest on Nazi symbols, some people find the Holocaust appropriate for “comedy” and “mocking.”  R.E.A.L. and adult people of conscience do NOT.

Responsible for Equality And Liberty stands in solidarity with every word of B’nai B’rith and their report on this disgusting mocking of the Holocaust.

B’nai B’rith has stated in a press release:

“B’nai B’rith International is highly offended by the despicable Ohio State University marching band’s Holocaust-inspired song called ‘Goodbye Kramer.’ The song, sung to the tune of Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believin’,’ references Nazis looking for Jews living in attics and Jews traveling by way of cattle car, to their deaths at Nazi concentration camps.  The song was discovered in an updated version of the band’s highly controversial songbook exposed in 2014 after a school investigation into the band’s culture. An initial report discovered the book that had been a long held secret with songs centering on bestiality, rape and homophobia. A follow-up investigation revealed ‘Goodbye Kramer’ was added to the band’s repulsive repertoire in 2012, as was another song denigrating the University of Nebraska. It is never acceptable to trivialize Holocaust imagery. To do so in a jovial tone and completely for the sake of offending is even more abhorrent. The Ohio State marching band has long been dubbed ‘The Best Damn Band in the Land,’ but this sort of behavior does nothing to back up that title.”

While adult people of conscience reject the OSUMB members support for hate “songs,” the Nazi / Confederate group Stormfront’s members are pleased by the OSUMB’s actions.  Stormfront members regularly call for and praise terrorist attacks on the United States of America, including praise of the Nazi terrorist James Von Brunn’s attack on the Washington DC U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Stormfront Nazis were pleased to hear about OSUMB’s hate songs mocking the Holocaust, and one of the comments on the Nazi hate blog stated: “Of course they don’t give what the lyrics were in the article but I would like to hear them. The point is the holycaust has had its day as a sympathizing sucking machine that everyone bows down to as a religion. The fact is the holycaust has become a joke.”

This is what those who demean the atrocity of the Holocaust and Stormfront Nazis have in common – the normalization of Nazi atrocities and figures.

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) believes that support for our universal human rights begins with recognizing the need to have a moral conscience towards atrocities and towards hateful languages against minority groups.  The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, signed by the nations of the world on December 10, 1948, begins with recognizing that “disregard and contempt for human rights have resulted in barbarous acts which have outraged the conscience of mankind.

There are white Americans who have privileged lives where the need for such a conscience has been replaced with only the needs for their own momentary amusements.  There are white Americans who have grown up learning about the “relativity” of world events and history, rather than a genuine understanding of human rights, ethics, morality, and respect for their fellow human beings.  R.E.A.L. believes this toxic culture must change, and we urge parents and adults to set an example on such issues and to take a stand to be responsible for equality and liberty.

China: Christian Churches Under Attack by Communists

In Chinese Communist Chinese Party (CCP)-controlled China, Christians are facing a new campaign of persecution involving the removal and destruction of Christian religious symbols of crosses in a “beautification” campaign by the CCP authorities. The Communist totalitarian authorities, having sought to remove all other human rights of the Chinese people, now seek to deny them the right of freedom of worship of their faith and their religious symbols.  On July 29, 2015, ChinaAid reported that the CCP tyrants demanded in July 2015 that Christians “Take down the crosses on top of your churches, or else,” and since then, the Communist tyrants have created construction gangs to remove and destroy Christian crosses across thousands of churches.

This latest attack on Chinese Christians is centered in the Chinese Zhejiang province, one of the last major areas of members of the Christian faith in China, with an estimated 300,000 Catholics and 1 million Protestants. The Christian churches in Zhejiang have both government sanctioned and underground “house” churches. Over the past 10 years, the CCP totalitarians have increased destroyed such “house” churches to prevent any Christian teachings not controlled by the Communists’ iron fist. ChinaAid, Responsible for Equality And Liberty, and other human rights activists have reported on the Communist destruction of such Christian churches.

The CCP have removed 1,200 crosses from churches since 2013, and this Communist initiative has accelerated in recent weeks. At one time, the Zhejiang area had red church crosses, but most of them have now been forcibly removed; this has included the total destruction of some churches. Maya Wang with Human Rights Watch has stated (as reported by Hong Kong Free Press) that many of the churches with crosses being removed were already “official churches” under the “sanction” of the CCP.  For”official” churches, the CCP puts Communist authorities in charge of Catholics and Protestants in “sanctioned” churches.  From 1958 to 1978, the CCP banned all Christian worship and Christians were all forced underground; since then they have allowed mostly state-sanctioned churches, but the Communist tyrants are now believing Christian symbols need to be removed from public view.

The Communist oppressors attack on Christians’ human rights claim that having church crosses are “illegal building practices,” not religious symbols. CCP attacks on Christian crosses have increased in the cities of Wenzhou, Hangzhou and Lishui.

Radio Free Asia reports that Communist “demolition gangs have taken down crosses from the tops of churches in provincial capital Wenzhou, Taizhou, Huzhou and Jinhua cities in recent days, in a slew of demolitions billed in state media as a building safety campaign.”  ChinaAid has reported that Communist demolition teams have also been accompanied by SWAT police forces or private security.  Such Communist police authorities have disrupted protests by Christians, beating them away from the site where their construction crews sought to demolish the Christian cross.

Radio Free Asia (RFA) reported that “In Wenzhou, a member of the Yuyangtaitou church in Wenzhou’s Pingyang county said their church’s cross had also been demolished by the authorities on Monday (July 27, 2015).  Video footage shot by congregants and seen by RFA showed government officials lowering the cross gradually to the ground using ropes, watched by a tearful congregation singing hymns.”

The Communist authorities have been disturbed by the growth of Christianity in CCP-controlled China. The Daily Telegraph reports estimates of 58 million Protestant Christians in China in 2010, growing to a protected 160 million by 2025 (a number greater than American Protestants in 2010), with an additional projected growth in Catholics in China to 247 million by 2030.

But the Chinese Christians have remained determined to preserve the symbols of their faith. Throughout the capital of Zheijang province, Christians in Wenzhous have made dozens of crosses to be distributed to other Christians, as the Communists tore down their church crosses.

Other Chinese Christians have used tactics of civil non-obedience to fend off Communist demolition crews to block or interfere with the removal of Christian cross symbols from their church, include disconnecting power to local cranes.

This has included Christians protesting the removal of crosses from their churches throughout Zhejiang province.  ChinaAid reports that “Last week, 20 Catholic priests, including 89-year-old Bishop Vincent Zhu Weifang, held a small protest in front of the Wenzhou government offices. Holding a sign that read ‘Maintaining religious dignity and opposing the forced removal of crosses.'”

During the efforts by the Communist cross demolition gang in Zhejiang province on July 29, 2015, 16 Christian pastors and believers were also arrested by the CCP police, according to Christian lawyer Pang Kun, 8 of which have not been released. Pang told Radio Free Asia (RFA) that the Christians were arrested for charges such as “running an illegal business,” “obstructing official duty,” when the Christians were opposed to the removal of crosses from the churches. Mr. Pang Kun stated “This is about the fact that they were opposed to the removal of the cross from their church, and this is a form of revenge against them. They want to send any church that doesn’t comply into disarray. This is an unreasonable act of revenge, which seriously violates the rights of these believers to freedom of religious belief. It is also against the law.”

In addition, according to reports by the RFA, there have been reports of 8 Protestant Christian pastors arrested in Wenzhou, as of July 29, 2015. After a church was removed from a local Wenzhou church, their pastor Zhang Chongyang was also taken away by the police. Another church in Zhejiang’s Cannon county reported their pastor, Liant Pu, was also taken in by the police.

Christian leaders in China have been calling for non-violent protests and non-violent civil disobedience in the face of this blatant attack on their fundamental universal human rights of freedom of religion by the CCP tyrants.    The Guardian also reports that: “Protestant preachers are encouraging their congregations to peacefully oppose the removals by placing homemade wooden crosses in their homes or on their cars.”

Chinese Christian leaders are also calling for President Barack Obama to address to oppression of Chinese Christians with CCP leader and Chinese President Xi Jinping, when he makes his first state visit to the United States in September 2015.

International Christian Concern has a petition calling for the Chinese CCP Ambassador in the United States of America to end the CCP’s cross demolition across China, and calls for supporters to sign this online petition.

The CCP Communist totalitarians are seeking to control references on social media about the removal of the Christian crosses, and punish those brave individuals which provide this information about the cross removal and destruction campaign.  RFA states that “Protestant believer Zheng Xianghuang said he had received a visit from Zhejiang state security police at his home the southwestern province of Sichuan after he posted a photo of a cross demolition on a social media site.”

People Respecting Our Shared Universal Human Rights Must Defend the Religious Freedom of Chinese Christians
People Respecting Our Shared Universal Human Rights Must Defend the Religious Freedom of Chinese Christians

When you read this story, know that there were Christians who sacrificed to get this information to the public and defend their human rights and freedom of religion.  To those who respect our shared Universal Human Rights, Responsible for Equality And Liberty urges that you share this story on social media to let the world know what is happening in CCP-controlled China.

The Communist Chinese authorities actions are in direct violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Covenant on Civil and Political (ICCPR), both of which China claims to have signed. The CCP government holds “human rights” meeting in China regularly, while it rejects such rights. It is the only major nation to have never actually ratify the ICCPR which it has “signed.”

Responsible for Equality And Liberty urges all those supporting our shared Universal Human Rights to sign the petition asking for President Obama to address this issue with  CCP leader and Chinese President Xi Jinping.  We urge you to also contact the CCP-controlled government and let them know that the people around the world defend our Universal Human Rights, not just for one group, one ethnicity, one race, or one religion – but for all people – everywhere, and that we are together – responsible for equality and liberty.
