Westboro Baptist Church Hate Group Vows to Burn Qur’an

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) supports our universal human rights of religious freedom, freedom of conscience, and freedom of worship for all people.  R.E.A.L. rejects hatred and rejects the activities of those who seek to promote hatred towards identity groups and specific religions.

The Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church vows to burn the Quran, as well as the American flag, on September 11, 2010.  R.E.A.L. rejects and condemns their planned act of hate.

In a press release, the Westboro Baptist Church has vowed to burn the Qur’an, if Dove World Outreach Center does not. In addition, a number of the supporters of the Dove World Outreach Center’s Facebook web page have made similar claims to do the same thing.

The Westboro Baptist Church states in its press release that: “WBC burned the Koran once — and if you sissy brats of Doomed america bully Terry Jones and the Dove World Outreach Center until they change their plans to burn that blasphemous tripe called the Koran, then WBC will burn it (again), to clearly show you some things.”

The Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) is listed as a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center.  R.E.A.L. has long reported on the extreme hate activities of the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC).

WBC has praised “world terror” and has praised terrorist attacks on both mosques and against other Christians.  WBC has praised shootings and murder of police officers.  WBC praised the oil rig catastrophe in Louisiana, and the flooding in Tennessee that claimed many lives.

WBC has protested Jewish synagogues around the nation in New York, in Dallas, in Colorado.  The WBC promotes Holocaust Denial, stating “you lie about the holocaust days.”

The Jewish Star has reported on the WBC: “The automated telephone greeting at the Westboro Baptist Church features a pleasant, Southern-accented female voice who advises if you are a ‘Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, or Christ-rejecting Jew,’ that ‘God hates you all.'”  Hate is hate.

In April 2010, R.E.A.L. reported on the planned alliance between the Westboro Baptist Church and the Dove World Outreach Center (the Florida church that was previously leading the Qur’an burning).

We must learn the lesson that there are NO COMPROMISES, NO DEALS with hate and with those who seek to deny freedom. Where one hate group leaves off, another will take its place.  Where freedom is denied in one place, others will rally to deny freedom in other places.

We must challenge hate with love consistently.  We must be responsible for freedom consistently.

We urge all to Choose Love, and to be Responsible for Equality And Liberty.

============================================

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) supports our universal human rights of freedom of religion, freedom of conscience, and freedom of worship for ALL people — without exception. We reject protests against houses of worship, and we reject violence and attacks on houses of worship.

On September 11, 2001 – nine years ago, America was attacked by those who killed Americans of every identity group and every religion – and who sought to divide and terrorize the United States of America.  New York City and Washington DC were attacked, but also one plane, Flight 93 that was hijacked to attack the White House or the Capitol building – was stopped – by Americans that refused to give in to fear and terror. Today, there are those who once again seek to spread fear and divide Americans on September 11.

Today, in America we see those who seek to burn the Qur’an.  We have seen from coast-to-coast, from California to Florida, a series of protests against those who seek to freely worship in Islamic mosques, in California, in Tennessee, in Wisconsin, in North Carolina, in Kentucky, in Florida, in Connecticut, and throughout New York.

In Florida, we have seen a pipe bomb attack on a mosque, in Texas a children’s playground in a mosque was burned down, while children are harassed, in Tennessee mosque properties have been vandalized and people have been convicted of arson attacks on mosques.  On our national airwaves and media, we see and hear those who call for bomb attacks on mosques, and those who seek to spread open intolerance and hatred.

Responsible for Equality and Liberty (R.E.A.L.) supports our universal human rights to freedom of religion, freedom of worship, and freedom of conscience for all people of all faiths, including the freedom of religion supported under Article 1 of the United States Constitution. Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that “Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.”

We are deeply concerned about the escalation of intolerance and hate that we seeing growing around the world, including in America today. We will be inviting the public to join us in a freedom of religion, freedom of worship, and freedom of conscience event on September 11 at 2 PM in Freedom Plaza in Washington DC to give Americans an opportunity to publicly show their support for such freedoms.

There is more information at 911Freedom.com — see also Facebook Event: Public Rally for Freedom of Religion, Worship, Conscience.

We urge those who promote hate and intolerance to unburden the hate from their hearts.

We urge all to Choose Love, Not Hate. Love Wins.

The Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), listed as a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Centerplanned to picket and protest the Dallas Holocaust Museum, a Jewish synagogue (Congregation Beth el Binah), Jewish Community Center of Dallas, Yavneh Academy of Dallas, and the Texas Jewish Post, in Dallas, Texas today, July 9, 2010. In addition, the Westboro Baptist Church “hate group” plans to protest the Chabad of Dallas on Sunday, July 11, 2010.

In May 2010, the Congregation Beth el Binah reported receiving a package from Westboro Baptist Church “hate group” labeled “Obama Hates Israel,” with a DVD “Jews killed Jesus”; this was reported by the Dallas Voice on May 6, 2010.

In Dallas, a non-profit organization the Resource Center Dallas is calling for members of the north Texas community to donate a dollar for each minute that the Westboro Baptist Church protests the Congregation Beth el Binah, which has outreach to the LGBT community of Dallas.  Resource Center Dallas Associate Executive Director Bret Camp has stated that “the protestors have been known to abandon their protests when they’re turned into a fundraiser.”

The Jewish Star has reported on the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC): “The automated telephone greeting at the Westboro Baptist Church features a pleasant, Southern-accented female voice who advises if you are a ‘Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, or Christ-rejecting Jew,’ that ‘God hates you all.'”

On June 24, 2010, the WBC also praised “world terror” and terrorist attacks on humanity.  The WBC group has praised terrorist bombings on a Somalia mosque, praised terrorist attacks against Iraqi Christians, and has praised the shooting and the murder of police officers.  At the end of April 2010, the Florida-based Dove World Outreach group decided to support and defend the WBC, and held a joint march with the WBC “hate group.”   Dove World Outreach’s objective is to promote a message that “Islam is of the Devil.” On July 4, the WBC’s ally Dove World Outreach held their own protest against an Islamic mosque in Gainesville, Florida.

==========================

Some view the Westboro Baptist Church as merely “fundamentalist.” We challenge that definition and instead view their efforts to seek to deny freedom of religion, freedom of worship to others by intimidation tactics, as well as their history of praising violence against others and praising violence against law enforcement, as nothing less than a “Christian supremacist” “hate group.” We call upon all Christians to denounce the Westboro Baptist Church’s activities and their interpretation of Christianity as not representing the views of most Christians around the world.

==========================

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) supports our universal human rights, including our universal human right of dignity, and our universal human rights of freedom of religion, freedom of worship, and freedom of conscience.   Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: “Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.”

We condemn such protests against houses of worship as seeking to intimidate and spread fear among those seeking their universal human rights of freedom of worship.   We urge those whose hearts are burdened by hate against others to remove the burden of hate from their hearts, and to find common cause with their fellow human beings in being responsible for equality and liberty together.

We urge all to Choose Love, Not Hate, Love Wins.

Westboro Baptist Church Hate Group Files Response in Supreme Court Case

The Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), listed as a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center, filed a petition with the U.S. Supreme Court on its efforts to picket the funerals of dead American soldiers.

U.S. Lance Cpl. Matthew A. Snyder, of Finksburg, Maryland - Died in Iraq

York Daily News reports that on July 7, 2010 “Members of the Westboro Baptist Church filed their response today with the U.S. Supreme Court to a petition by Albert Snyder asking the court to restore a $5 million verdict against the Rev. Fred Phelps and members of his congregation.”

“In their petition, the Phelpses are asking the court to uphold a 4th U.S. Circuit court of appeals ruling that overturned the jury verdict. The Phelpses said the 4th Circuit was correct to say their speech – protesting Marine Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder’s 2006 funeral outside a Westminster, Md., Catholic Church and writing about Snyder on Westboro’s website – was protected under the First Amendment.”

….

“Albert Snyder, of Spring Garden Township, has said the Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church invaded his privacy and intentionally inflicted emotional distress upon his family in their protest. His attorneys laid out their argument for the Supreme Court in briefs filed May 25. Supporters – including attorneys general for 48 states, a collection of U.S. senators, and several veterans organizations – filed amicus briefs a week later.”

“The court is expected to hear oral arguments in October.”

He was assigned to Combat Service Support Group-1, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, California. Died on March 3, 2006. Matthew was 20 years old.”

“The family of Lance Corporal Matthew Snyder, US Marine Corps, has begun this civil lawsuit* against Mr. Phelps and certain members of the so-called Westboro Baptist Church to bring an end to the reign of terror and abuse that they inflicted upon the grieving families of US service members killed in defense of our nation. Using innocent children to deliver their twisted message of hatred and fear, the defendants in this suit have sought to attack the memory of our departed heroes, to strip their loved ones of their dignity, and to use abuse and intimidation as a tool for preventing surviving family members from reaching closure over their loss.”

Westboro Baptist Church Setback on Court Proceedings to Picket Funerals

In Omaha, a federal judge has ruled against Shirley Phelps-Roper of the Westboro Baptist Church.  The Westboro Baptist Church, listed as a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center,  was seeking an injunction against Nebraska’s funeral-picketing law.

AP reports in “Ruling: Neb. can press case against Phelps family member”

“In her ruling Monday, U.S. District Court Judge Laurie Smith Camp said that the Nebraska funeral picketing law protects family members attending services, while leaving ample alternatives for Phelps-Roper’s protests that are protected by the First Amendment.”

“‘She has not demonstrated that she is likely to prevail’ in her challenge to the statute, Smith Camp said of the lawsuit.”

“Phelps-Roper said she plans to appeal to the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.”

Westboro Baptist Church Praises “World Terror”

The Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), listed as a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center, praised “world terror” today.

On June 24, 2010, the Westboro Baptist Church praised “world terror” on its hate group blog “Godsmack,” stating “PRAISE GOD FOR WORLD TERROR!” and “God is your Terrorist!”

The remarks were part of commentary regarding recent terror-suspected arrests involving security procedures involving the G20 summit in Toronto, Canada.

The WBC group has praised terrorist bombings on a Somalia mosque, praised terrorist attacks against Iraqi Christians, and has praised the shooting and the murder of police officers.  At the end of April 2010, the Florida-based Dove World Outreach group decided to support and defend the WBC, and held a joint march with the WBC hate group.   Dove World Outreach’s objective is to promote a message that “Islam is of the Devil.”

Westboro Baptist Church Hate Group Praises Attacks on Iraqi Christians

On May 2, 2010, the “Westboro Baptist Church,” listed as a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Centerpraised the deadly attacks on Christians in Iraq as part of the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) blog “GodSmack.”

The “hate group” Westboro Baptist Church praised the attack on Iraqi Christians that led to the death of one Christian shop keeper and injured at least 80 Iraqi Christian students  who were traveling on buses when their buses were attacked by multiple bombs.  The next day, between 2,500 and 3,000 Iraqi Christians protested the bus bomb attack on Christian students.

The Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) “hate group” praised this attack on Christians, however, stating “THANK GOD FOR ATTACKS ON ‘CHRISTIAN’ COLLEGE STUDENTS IN IRAQ!”

The WBC “hate group” blog declared20 busloads of students from ‘Christian’ towns and villages in the Nineveh Plain were heading back to the University of Mosul with Iraqi-soldier-escorts, when car and roadside bombs hit five of the buses, killing an Iraqi and seriously wounding 70 students.  ‘I still do not know what they want from Christians.’  GodSmack!  The enmity of the citizens of the world against the faithless-false religion fraudulently claiming the name ‘Christianity’ comes from God!”

The WBC “hate group” blog questions the Christianity of Iraqi Christian students who were attacked, putting quotation marks around the word Christian when praising attacks on them.

On April 21, 201, the Dove World Outreach Christian organization expressed their solidarity with the Westboro Baptist Church “hate group.”

Westboro Baptist Church Hate Group Praises Floods and Tragic Deaths

On May 3 and May 4, 2010, the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) “hate group” praised the death and destruction of recent floods that have affected Tennessee, Mississippi, and Kentucky.  The “Westboro Baptist Church” (WBC) is listed as a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

On May 4, 2010, the Environmental News Service (ENS) reported that the death toll from the floods was now up to 29 people.  ENS reported that: “Record-breaking flash floods across Tennessee, Mississippi and Kentucky have claimed the lives of at least 29 people since Friday. In Tennessee, 19 people have died in the severe storms, tornadoes and torrential rains that caused rapidly rising waters and flash flooding across the state. Numerous nursing homes, apartment complexes and residences were evacuated as flood waters moved in on them. Water rescues and helicopter extractions were performed as waters rushed over hundreds of roads through cities, towns and neighborhoods. Many residents have lost all of their possessions as homes were destroyed or sustained major damages.”

It’s God’s wondrous work.  WBC visited Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky MANY times; always evil entreated by you southern hypocrites… See the floating dumpster, house and water treatment plant under water! Next – YOUR FIERY DESTRUCTION!”

Then on May 4, 2010, the WBC “hate group” stated: “THANK GOD FOR 27 DEAD AS STORMS POUND SOUTHEAST! Nashville is home of unparalleled grand ole sin.  The good ole home spun south has turned into a cesspool of twanging rebellion… GodSmack! … We sing and praise His power!”

Westboro Baptist Church Hate Group Praises Shooting of Detroit Police Officer

Once again, the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) “hate group” is praising the shooting of a police officer.  It has repeatedly praised attacks on American police officers as part of the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) blog “GodSmack.”

In March, the WBC praised the shooting of a police officer in New York City.  On May 3, 2010, the WBC is now praising the shooting of a police officer in Detroit that resulted in the police officer’s death.

The “Westboro Baptist Church” (WBC) is listed as a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

On May 3, 2010, ClickonDetroit reported on the shooting of multiple police officers in Detroit, which resulted in the wounding of four police officers, and the death of Officer Brian Huff.  The report described Officer Huff’s commitment to Detroit law enforcement and the loss to his widow and 10 year old son.  The Detroit news report stated “Huff graduated from the police academy when he was 32. He has worked with in the Public Housing Unit and the Gaming Unit before joining the Eastern District in 2004.”  Officer Huff literally gave his life in his commitment to law and justice in Detroit.

The Westboro Baptist Church “hate group” chose to mock the sacrifice of Officer Huff’s life by praising his shooter, stating “THANK GOD FOR THE DETROIT SHOOTER – 1 OFFICER DEAD; 4 WOUNDED! “God blessed Detroit; they waxed worse in greed, fornication, adultery, and homosexuality…. Monday morning (5/3) on Detroit’s east side a brute raised by doomed american parents opened fire during a breaking-and-entering; one police officer was killed, four were wounded.   It’s the worst news Mayor Bing has had since elected.  GodSmack! Worse/more is coming, because you DON’T obey!… Woe to the inhibiters of the earth! Sing and rejoice!”
