White Supremacist Terrorist Organized Richmond, VA Hate Group Concert in March 2012

Wade Michael Page, the terrorist killer behind the mass murder attack on a Sikh temple on August 4, 2012, was also one of the organizing coordinators of a white supremacist hate group concert in Richmond, Virginia on March 17, 2012. Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) has investigated his white supremacist associations, and we have identified national and international contacts who have been involved with this white supremacist terrorists. On behalf of the safety of our fellow human beings, we are making the information in this investigation public, so that our public understands the importance of continuing to challenge ideologies of hate and violence in America or anywhere in the world – that would deny our Universal Human Rights of freedom, dignity, life, and safety to innocent individuals.

The March 17, 2012 Richmond, VA concert organized by terrorist Wade Michael Page featured one of his bands, called “Definite Hate,” as well as other white supremacist musical bands including “Open Season Australia” (Australia), “Chaos 88” (New Jersey), Landsknecht (Germany), “FucFace88” (Florida). Terrorist Wade Michael Page stated that his “Definite Hate” band was based out of North Carolina; Wade Page had previously been stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, while in the U.S. Army.

The terrorist Wade Page assisted a white supremacist group, called the Confederate Hammerskins (CHS), in organizing the event. Most of the information regarding the CHS events are maintained behind a wall of secrecy to their members. But a web cache of certain files led to discovery of communications and context on how the Confederate Hammerskins and their associated white supremacists organized such white supremacist hate concerts. (We have captured these in a PDF file.) The CHS logo as shown in the image below, is seen in other concerts promoted by terrorist Wade Page.

The background on the CHS event organization shows that the flier promoting the event was created by someone with the screen name “End Apathy,” undoubtedly himself; “End Apathy” was the other band that Wade Michael Page led. “End Apathy” used Internet tool “Photo Bucket” to control and distribute the final event brochure, and the CHS communications show how this was approach was used to ensure secrecy of white supremacist concert planning. “End Apathy” distributed their first flier for the Richmond, VA concert on October 7, 2011.

Terrorist Wade Page continued to maintain the PhotoBucket web site, but deleted all images except for a similar concert with CHS in August 7, 2010 in North Carolina – the same CHS logo is visible in the upper left hand of that concert, which featured both of the terrorist Page’s hate bands “Definite Hate” and “End Apathy,” as well as a group called “13 Knots”. The event was also promoted by the white supremacist Label 56 group.

The white supremacist Confederate Hammerskins (CHS) group has chapters in Texas, the Carolinas, Virginia, Maryland, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, and Tennessee, as well as an international presence in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, France, Hungary, and Switzerland. The white supremacist network that Terrorist Wade Page had access to was an international network. The ADL has reported that the Hammerskin group was founded in Dallas, Texas in the 1980s.

On its website, the CHS states on their web site that a “founding member of CHS was jailed for aggravated assault and a Federal Grand Jury was convened to investigate the actions of skinheads in the Dallas area,” which has led the CHS white supremacists to view that they are oppressed by an “anti-white justice system.”

During January 2012, CHS and event organizers received concerns about finding hotel rooms in Richmond that we be acceptable to the white supremacist sensitivities. Specifically, multiple white supremacist used the CHS secret “Forum 38” posts to ask for the organizers to find rooms that would not be in “middle N***erville” (racial slur).

For the March 17, 2012 Richmond, VA concert, interested attendees used secret “Forum 38” managed by the CHS to exchange messages. The concert was held in Richmond, VA near Willis Road in Richmond. By March 12, 2012, the CHS white supremacist organization was advising white supremacist concert attendees to use one of three “nearby” hotels in Richmond:

The final instructions to CHS concert attendees went out via PhotoBucket from the “EndApathy” account (name of terrorist Wade Page’s other band) also on March 12, 2012.

During the CHS communications, it was clear that the white supremacist attendees attracted to this concert were coming from the West Coast and all throughout the United States, as well as individuals traveling from around the world to this Richmond, VA concert to hear the Terrorist Wade Page’s white supremacist musical band “Definite Hate” and other white supremacist bands.

One Richmond, VA concert attendee JoCoRebel wrote “Anybody needing to make some face time get out there and do it, this is your chance to meet the soldiers for a future of our race!”

On March 16, 2012, the day before the white supremacist CHS concert, one CHS coordinator called “Vanilla Gorilla” provided the white supremacists with a telephone contact number to call for their final instructions. This was uncovered in another web cache area of CHS white supremacist forum messages. (PDF version)

After the March 17, 2012 Richmond, VA white supremacist Confederate Hammerskin concert, various attendees used the same secret CHS forum to praise efforts from “new prospects” (chilling thought), and to praise Adolf Hitler. The attendees claim to include an individual who claims to be “Amish,” as well. (I have not posted the parts of this where attendees use terms referencing vulgar racial slurs as part of their after concert “thanks.”)

Follow-Up Media Reports of Concerts in Chesterfield, VA (Richmond suburb)

Based on additional investigation by two news teams WTVR and WBTV, it also appears that the Richmond, VA concert white supremacist concert was held in the Chesterfield, VA suburb of Richmond, at an indoor, windowless concrete facility managed by the Mid-Cities Civic Association. Previous concerts turned 100-150 attendees. One rental agent said that she saw the attendees giving a “Heil Hitler” salute.

The Mid-Cities Civic Association’s indoor facility was located at 9010 Quinnford Blvd, North Chesterfield/Bellwood, Virginia 23237

After WTVR television broadcasta story on Tuesday linking the terrorist’s use of the Mid-Cities Civic Association rental hall, Association President Nick Curry told WTVR “we don’t approve of it and we won’t rent to them again.”

Wade Michael Page and Music of Hate

Terrorist Wade Michael Page’s bands are promoted by Antipathy Records, which continues to sell the terrorist’s music to impact the thinking of other impressionable young minds, to persuade them to accept Wade Michael Page’s vision of racial hatred. They sell two different albums, “Definite Hate Violent Victory” and “End Apathy – Self Destruct” and “Definite Hate – Madder than hell.” They praise the latter album by “Definite Hate,” which was the white supremacist musical group that appeared at the Richmond, VA concert, and which is described by “Antipathy Records” as “After 13 years the Southern Hate still smashes like a HAMMER. 1. Madder than hell, Meaner than s**t 2. Enforcer 3. Unstoppable 4. Violent Victory 5. Infected World 6. Chosen Few 7. I’m the One 8. Indefinite Hatred 9. Bonecrusher 10. Cop Calling C**t 11. The gruesome images on the terrorist’s albums clearly communicated his hatred for others, especially the image on the first album, Definite Hate – Violent Victory, which shows a white individual bludgeoning a black individual with a chain. The cover of this white supremacist hate group album clearly demonstrates that goal to promote violence, as does the second “Definite Hate” album with a blood-covered axe used by a white supremacist.

There is no doubt that it was precisely this type of call for RACIAL VIOLENCE that was being promoted by the Terrorist Wade Page’s Definite Hate group during the CHS concert in Richmond, Virginia, which was also co-organized by CHS individuals in Richmond.

The question for the Richmond community should be – how will they address this ongoing racial hatred in Richmond that led to members of its community cheering for the hate of a white supremacist band which last weekend resulted in murder on people of a minority group?

This is indeed, the question for the entire nation and the world.

What we cannot afford to do – is IGNORE the problem of racial supremacism and hatred.

Stormfront Editor and Chief of Staff Jack Boot, also defended keeping the posting up about praising the terrorist attack on the Sikhs stating “they’re asking for it.” Regarding the Stormfront supporter praising the terrorist killer that attacked the Sikh temple, “Jack Boot” states “I don’t hold his sentiments against him. He’s far, far from the only one, of any race or creed, thinking in these terms. The point here is, even knowing the severity of the mass murder, this “Stormfront Chief of Staff” could NOT bring himself to condemn someone praising MURDER, and calling for more MURDER – and instead blames a multicultural society – stating “they’re asking for it.” That is the message to remember regarding extremist hate groups like Stormfront and the threat they pose to public safety.

Wisconsin: 6 Killed in Terrorist Attack on Sikh Temple by Man Linked to White Supremacists – Stormfront Hate Group Supporters Praise Attack, Some Say “They’re Asking for It”

Wisconsin terrorist attack: In Oak Creek, Wisconsin, six people were shot and killed today as a result of a terrorist attack at Sikh Temple of Wisconsin, which is south of Milwaukee along Lake Michigan. The total death toll is 7 dead, including the killer Wade Michael, Page. Government officials are treating this as a domestic terrorism incident.” Our prayers go out to those who were killed in this terrorist attack, and we urge all those who promote hatred and violence to Choose Love, Not Hate – Love Wins.

The Sikh Coalition’s Executive Director Sapreet Kaur issued a statement: “The Sikh Coalition’s thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the shooting, the Sikh community of Milwaukee, and the larger community of Wisconsin, which we know will stand with their Sikh neighbors with their support and prayers during this very trying time.”

White Supremacist Terrorist Identified as Wade Michael Page

The terrorist has been identified as Wade Michael Page, a veteran of the U.S. Army who was stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas and previously at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was reportedly stationed in psychological operations units throughout his service. Apparently, he recently moved to the Oak Creek, Wisconsin area, living in a rental unit in Cudahy, Wisconsin.

The Washington Post reported that Oak Creek Police Chief John Edwards said “police were investigating reports that the shooter, who was white, may have harbored extreme racial views.” Reuters has reported research from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), stating: “Wade had been a member of the racist skinhead band End Apathy, based in Fayetteville, North Carolina, in 2010, said Heidi Beirich, director of the intelligence project at the Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery, Alabama. Wade also tried to buy goods from the National Alliance, a neo-Nazi group, in 2000, she said.”

According to the SPLC Blog report Wade Michael Page “was a frustrated neo-Nazi who had been the leader of a racist white-power band. In 2010, Page, then the leader of the band End Apathy, gave an interview to the white supremacist website Label 56. He said that when he started the band in 2005, its name reflected his wish to ‘figure out how to end people’s apathetic ways’ and start ‘moving forward.'”

The Label 56 white supremacist musical website maintained an account on the Stormfront “hate group” web site, and Label 56 promoted their interview with Wade Michael Page on the Stormfront web page there (see captured screen shot of this). Wade Michael Page’s “End Apathy” band is repeatedly addressed on the Stormfront “hate group” web site, which appeared at white supremacist parties and gatherings, including a white supremacist gathering in March 2012 in Richmond, Virginia. The End Apathy White Supremacist band was also promoted on Stormfront’s web site, where the band sought to hold “Meet and Greet” efforts with other white supremacists, such as the one North Carolina, where Wade Michael Page was previously stationed in the U.S. Army.

News media have also been reporting on the links between the Stormfront group and terrorist Wade Michael Page.

Previous Killings of Sikhs in America; Hate Crimes Not Recorded for Sikhs

On March 4, 2011, two Sikh Americans, Surinder Singh, and Gurmej Singh Atwal, were shot to death in Oak Grove, California, while taking their daily walk. Community leaders managed to get reward money on information raised to $30,000 during March 2011. The reward money on information has increased to $57,000.

Sikh activists sought to hold a Day of Remembrance for them in October 2011, distributing fliers to public letting them know there is $57,000 in reward money for persons with information regarding the killings. While there was a new lead on a possible truck in February 2012, the case remains unsolved. In July 2011, the Associated Press published an article stating how Sikhs have been the repeated target of violence, which some state are part of a nationwide pattern of violence against Sikhs.

Other Sikh groups have stated have urged the U.S. federal government authorities to start tracking hate crimes against Sikhs. In April 2012, 90 Congressional representative signed a letter urging the Department of Justice and FBI to track hate crimes against Sikhs.

Sikh Group Warned of Nazi White Supremacist Threats Months Ago

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) notes that in April 2012, the Canadian-based World Sikh Organization (WSO) reported concerns about threats by Nazi white supremacists. This was reported by Panthic stating: “The WSO is concerned that if misleading news reports continue, there will be an increase in physical attacks on Sikhs, like the one in Edmonton in March by Calgary-based white-supremacist group Blood and Honour. The neo-Nazi group also has active members in Vancouver.” In the past Sikh groups have been part of panels warning of the growth of “hate groups” in America.
Among our American supporters of R.E.A.L., we deeply regret the hate that some have in our country towards people because of their race, religion, ethnic origin, or other identity group. We remain concerned that such white supremacist extremists remain a threat to public safety and national security.

The event is promoted just below an advertisement for Stormfront’s radio show on WPBR-AM radio in Lake Worth, Florida, where Stormfront’s Derek Black and David Black now have a radio show five times a week. Stormfront has also been the source for convicted white supremacist terrorist Daniel Cowart who tried to murder 100 black Americans, Pittsburgh police killer Richard Poplawski, and supporters of Holocaust Memorial Museum terrorist James Von Brunn. The Stormfront web site has promoted a wide range of “white nationalist” and racist events from the failed American Renaissance conference to numerous Neo-Nazi, KKK, and other racist events.

Stormfront Promotes Virginia Ku Klux Klan Cross Burning

The “Knights Riders” of the Ku Klux Klan Virginia event is planned for a campground area in Martinsburg, Virginia. The Ku Klux Klan members state their picnic and “cross burning” is open to public, as long as you are white, stating “White People Only.” The Ku Klux Klan group claims to plan to have “political guest speakers and Christian prayer,” as well as a “cross lighting at dusk.”

The Midland Messenger reports that a coalition of Neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and the racist “Christian Identity” movement plans to hold an event at the steps of the Midland County Courthouse on July 31, and that the event is being promoted on the “white nationalist hate group” Stormfront. They report that members will include the Ku Klux Klan (KKK)’s Randy Gray, Nazi National Socialist Movement group’s Jeff Schoep, Christian Identity movement’s James Wickstrom. The united efforts by the racists and Nazis in joint rallies reflects a growing trend of racial hate groups in shared coalitions.

The Ku Klux Klan’s Randy Gray was reportedly a member of the Ron Paul presidential campaign in Michigan in 2008. KKK activist Randy Gray has been involved in promoting white supremacism in Midland, Michigan as previously reported by the Midland Daily News, where Randy Gray told the Midland Daily News that he was a member of the Ku Klux Klan and had a protest in KKK robes the day after the election of Barack Obama. He has also reportedly spoken at a white supremacist event in Kalamazoo.

Randy Gray has also promoted white supremacism in other parts of the country including leading an event in Tennessee. At the Tennessee event, Randy Gray reportedly promoted the “Color of Crime” book promoted by New Century Foundation / American Renaissance. The American Renaissance has unsuccessfully tried to hold a national convention in the Washington DC area to promote its views on race.

Jeff Schoep has led the Nazi, Hitlerite National Socialist Movement (NSM) for years. The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) quotes Jeff Schoep as stating: “”The Constitution was written by white men alone. Therefore, it was intended for whites alone… When you put on your NSM uniform, you are not just representing the NSM but all National Socialists that fought and died for our Race and our Cause! You are showing the Jews and the rest of the world that our Fuhrer is not forgotten and that his life’s struggle was not in vain… All non-White immigration must be prevented. We demand that all non-Whites currently residing in America be required to leave the nation forthwith and return to their land of origin: peacefully or by force. ”

The SPLC states that “James Wickstrom may be America’s hardest-line preacher of the racist and anti-Semitic theology of Christian Identity. Known for violent, raging sermons that call for extermination of “the Jews,” Wickstrom, who has an extensive criminal history, has been preaching his hatred since his involvement in the 1970s with the anti-Semitic and antigovernment Posse Comitatus.”

The SPLC quotes James Wickstrom as stating: “I’d like to see these Jews all be brought to the VA [Veterans Administration hospital] and wooden chairs be put down on the lawn. Tie the Jews in. Bring these veterans down who have been mutilated … and give them baseball bats and let them beat these Jews to death! Every one of them! Take these chairs and Jews after they’re beaten to death, throw ’em in the wood chipper! And from the wood chipper let the remains go into a big incinerary [sic] truck, which is right behind the wood chipper, and give them the holocaust they rightly deserve!”

The SPLC quotes James Wickstrom as stating: “I have a dream! If that goddamn n**ger can have a dream, I can have a dream, too. I have a dream that in the days to come there won’t be anyone who isn’t white that’s gonna be in America!”

Montana: Residents Protest Nazi Film at White Supremacist Recruitment – Promoted on Stormfront

Montana media are reporting on 200 residents protesting a pro-Nazi film that was shown at a public library in Kalispell, Montana by the group Pioneer Little Europe (P.L.E.) intended to recruit white supremacists to join that group. The P.L.E. film was shown by former Nazi Aryan Nations member Karl Gharst, who court documents have described as a “white supremacist.” Karl Gharst has served time in jail for felony threats. Gharst plans to show a Holocaust Denial film, “The Truth Behind the Gates of Auschwitz,” on May 29. On March 29, Karl Gharst showed a film “The Holocaust Debate.” In addition to Karl Gharst, the P.L.E. organizers included couple April Gaede and Mark Harrington, who were arrested on charges of simple assault and criminal mischief associated with a scuffle that resulted in knocking a camera out of one of the protester’s hands and breaking it.

The pro-Nazi film event was promoted by April Gaede on the “white nationalist hate group” Stormfront’s web site.

Stormfront Hate Group Members Praise, Mock White Supremacist Richard Barrett

The Stormfront “white nationalist hate group” members were quick to provide their opinions on the murder of white supremacist Richard Barrett in Mississippi.

Earlier in April 2010, Richard Barrett was promoted by a Stormfront forum member praising Richard Barrett’s “victories.”

After Richard Barrett’s murder on April 22, 2010, the tone on the Stormfront web page changed, with both conspiracy theories being promoted, and mocking attacks on Richard Barrett.

At the Stormfront web page remembering Richard Barrett, one Stormfront forum member describes Barrett’s death as “ZOG must be getting very worried about us Nationalists.”

A Stormfront forum member states: “Just a reminder to all WN. Be armed all the time and be prepared to use it.”

Some Stormfront forum members way of mourning Richard Barrett was to accuse him of being a “race traitor,” and to accuse him of sexual crimes. One Stormfront forum member criticizes Barrett, stating: “Anyone who hires a Black to do yard work is a race mixer.” Another Stormfront forum member stated that Barrett was “a racetraitor for not hiring White kids to do his yardwork.”

Former contributor to the Neo-Nazi National Vanguard and Stormfront forum member Jeff Hook also accused Richard Barrett of having child pornography.

Jeff Hook is a contributor to the “European Americans United” (EAU) blog “Western Voices World News.” In 2004, Stormfront forum member and WVWN writer Jeff Hook was praised by Kevin Alfred Strom as a contributor to the National Vanguard. On April 21, 2008, Strom pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography and was sentenced to 23 months in prison. Since then, former National Vanguard “reporter” Jeff Hook has moved to writing for Western Voices World News and posting on the Stormfront “white nationalist hate group.”

But now that white supremacist Richard Barrett is dead, former Strom supporter Jeff Hook is now alleging on the Stormfront web site that Barrett had “child porn.” Jeff Hook writes on Stormfront that he believes that Richard Barrett’s death was the result of a gay sexual relationship, and writes “Watch for child and interracial porn to be found among the ashes.”

Once again, we see the legacy of contempt that promoting a lifetime of hate will yield.

The Gadsden Flag and Those Who Promote Hate

The first use of a “snake” symbol in American history was simply to signify the divided the 13 colonies and the need to “join or die” as a united nation. The later “Gadsden flag” of uncertain origin, was used by U.S. Marine Continental Colonel Christopher Gadsden on his ships in warfare against the British army, after seeing the “rattlesnake” symbol on some drums in Philadelphia. The Gadsden flag is a historic symbol associated with military conflict.

The use of the Gadsden flag for current political disagreement is not a major part of U.S. political history, as the Gadsden flag has predominantly been associated with historic military conflict. Unfortunately, in addition to the Gadsden flag’s past use as part of military history, there has also been use of the Gadsden flag by groups promoting anti-government militias and racial oriented hate groups.

Because of this, those groups that have used the Gadsden flag for their political views today, are now being joined by those who have also used the Gadsden flag and who promote hate and even violence against their fellow Americans. Unfortunately for those using the Gadsden flag strictly for their political causes, many extremist hate groups have sullied the Gadsden flag for years, by using it to promote their “fight” against our human rights of equality and liberty.

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) has repeatedly seen the use of the Gadsden flag not only by political groups and by anti-government groups , but also by anti-American groups such as the Occidental Dissent whose leader seeks to recreate a white nationalist Confederate States of America. We have seen groups such as the white nationalist Occidental Dissent, the white nationalist American Renaissance, the white nationalist Council of Conservative Citizens (CofCC), and even the Hutaree militia (whose members have been arrested for a terrorist plot) all utilizing the Gadsden flag as a banner. (Notably the individual with the Nazi shirt chased from an April 2010 St. Louis “Tea Party” political event, claimed to be a member of the Council of Conservative Citizens” (CofCC) – that has been promoting the Gadsden flag long before the existence of the “Tea Party” political groups.

The Occidental Dissent claimed success on April 15 by infiltrating a Washington DC based Tea Party event. The Occidental Dissent, whose mission is the “the creation of a Jew-free, racially exclusive White ethnostate in North America,” used the Gadsden Flag as way to integrate with the Tea Party April 15 event, despite their open and clear contempt for the United States of America.

On April 15, 2010, “Hunter Wallace” of the white nationalist Occidental Dissent wrote:

“I will say this though: there is a common thread that unites the Tea Party protesters with the militias and gun enthusiasts (and the White Nationalists) we saw in Kentucky. All of these groups are starting to rally around a common anti-government symbol: the Gadsden flag.”
“Where there is smoke, there is fire… Several of the Tea Party signs were caricatures of Obama that struck me as mildly negrophobic. They had slightly exaggerated racial features that brought to mind the Jim Crow minstrel show cartoons that I collect back home. The punchline: this man in the White House, the bloodsucking illegitimate thief stealing our money, is a sort of absurd African foreigner. This type of milquetoast racial humor seemed to be quite popular among the crowd.”
“Carl Cameron of FOX News made an appearance. I stood less than five feet away from him waving the Gadsden flag in the background of the U.S. Capitol. I don’t know if any of this was on television. There were other ‘Alternative Right’ commentators on the ground in DC. We saw someone from The Political Cesspool walking among the crowd. Virginia Governor Proclaims April as “Confederate History Month” to Praise of White Nationalists

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell proclaimed April as “Confederate History Month” initially without condemning slavery – a move that was met with support from the members of the “white nationalist hate group” Stormfront and Virginia “white nationalist hate groups”.

Update: Governor McDonnell has recanted, after criticism and after defending not including a condemnation of slavery in the initial proclamation, and has issued an update denouncing slavery as an “abomination” and not mentioning it as a mistake.

The members and supporters of “white nationalist hate groups” supporting Governor McDonnell’s proclamation for “Confederate History Month” speaks volumes about America: Stormfront, Virginia-based VDARE and their contributor Patrick Buchanan, commenters to the blog of Virginia Fairfax County headquartered American Renaissance, and Virginia-headquartered Occidental Dissent. Clearly there are a number of white nationalist hate groups” that seek Virginia’s new slogan to be viewed as “Virginia is for haters.”

At the the blog of Virginia Fairfax County headquartered American Renaissance, commenters defended the Civil War as merely the right of Southerners to govern themselves, and called the Civil War the “War of Northern Aggression.” One commenter “Herb” wrote at the Virginia-based American Renaissance: “I love to see the black leaders cringe when there is any celebrations of the Confederacy.”

Virginia’s Occidental Dissent leader stated: “I have come to dream about the glorious day when White Southerners wake up and sever our ties with these loathsome hypocrites forever… The Confederacy had the right idea in striking out on its own. Too bad we lost. I passionately despise our national government for similar reasons.” This is the same Virginia Occidental Dissent leader who on March 6, 2010 stated that he sought to commit a “hate crime,” using profanities and racial slurs about black Americans.

Virginia Governor McDonnell’s move was also popular with the “white nationalist hate group” Stormfront forum members.

One Stormfront forum member wrote “After living through a decade of attacks against the Confederate battle flag and school administrators suspending students who wear Dixie regalia, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) is, like a true Johnny Reb, fighting back.”

Another Stormfront forum member wrote “For 8 years we went without it, but its back again. Any WN [white nationalist] ought to consider themself [sic] a confederate – my people are from the North, but we all know where our allegiances would lie today.”

Reverend Timothy James of the Disciples of Christ recently stated that ‘for African Americans the confederate flag is a system of terror, oppression, separation, and racism.’ We shouldn’t need to be reminded of this. We have seen the use of the Confederate symbol of division used over and over again in our nation. We have seen the Confederate symbol of division used by the Ku Klux Klan. We have seen the Confederate symbol of division used by white supremacist organizations. Most recently, we have seen the Confederate symbol of division in the tragic terrorist attack in June on the Holocaust Memorial Museum. In Virginia and throughout our nation today, there are over 90 Neo-Confederate hate groups that use that symbol of our past divisions to spread hate and to attack our shared values of equality and liberty.”
