ISIS Terrorist Cowards Make Ramadan Attacks on Mosque, Muslims, Women, Children – 200 Killed in Five Countries

ISIS terrorists launched a string of terrorist attacks in multiple nations on June 25 and June 26, 2015 to murder Muslims, women, children, elderly, and tourists – in Syria, Kuwait, Tunisia, France, during the Islamic holiday of Ramadan. The vast majority of the 153 murdered in these ISIS terrorist attacks were Muslims. This is also the case in another 50 killed by ISIS ally Al-Shabab today, June 26. Combined, the ISIS terrorist and terrorist ally Al-Shabab attacks killed over 200, targeting mostly Muslims.

In Syria, the ISIS terror group killed at least 145 civilians in an attack on the Syrian town of Kobani and a nearby village on Thursday, June 25. Reuters reported the “attack on the predominantly Kurdish town of Kobani and the nearby village of Brakh Bootan marked the biggest single massacre of civilians by Islamic State in Syria since it killed hundreds of members of the Sunni Sheitaat tribe last year.” The gruesome images of Muslim children’s bodies destroyed into pieces and row after row of children’s bodies after the ISIS terror attack in Kobani is heart-rending.

YPG spokesman Rami Abdulrahman told Reuters 46 civilians had been killed. The YPG spokesman said at least 145 had died in the assault launched by a group of Islamic State fighters estimated to number in the dozens. The U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said an estimated 50,000 people had been displaced within Hasaka city while 10,000 had left northwards toward Amuda town, close to the Turkish border. It warned that up to 200,000 people could eventually flee.

In Kuwait, on June 26, ISIS terrorists bombed the the Shiite mosque of Al-Sadiq on the Muslim day of prayer, in the middle of Ramadan, the holiest month in Islam. The ISIS terror group claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing of the mosque. CCTV camera images showed the ISIS terrorist entering the mosque, during the Friday prayers, then using a cowardly suicide bomb to murder the unsuspecting Muslim worshippers. The gruesome photos of the killings in the mosque included young children who had gone for Ramadan prayers. The terrorist attack on Muslims left at least 8 dead, and many injured. The ISIS terrorist group bragged that it had killed and injured dozens in the attack on the Kuwait mosque. The Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah condemned the “cowardly terrorist act.”

In Tunisia, a reported ISIS terrorist attacked the Hotel Imperial Marhaba in Sousse, opening fire on beachgoers, and killing at least 39 people and injuring at least 39. At least five victims were British, according to the U.K. Foreign Office. An ISIS report stated that one of their terrorist used as a suicide bomb and that two of their terrorist members opened fire with guns on tourists at the beach resort.  One of the reported ISIS cowards gunning down people on the beach includes the now dead attacker named as Abu Yahya Al-Qayrawani (from Kairouan/Tunisia), who was shot by police during his rampage against helpless people.   One courageous man Matthew James was shot three times as he used his body as a human shield to protect his fiance.

In France’s Saint-Quentin-Fallavier (Isere region) near Grenoble, a terrorist sought to explode gas cylinders at an American gas products company, Air Products, and beheaded a man. The alleged killer has been arrested and named as Yassine Salhi, 30, with the victim believed to be his employer. The French victim’s (Hervé Cornara) body was mutilated, labeled with Arabic lettering, and staged with two Khilafah shahada Arabic flags next to his body (one black and one white) next to his body, with the victim’s head posted on a fence. FRANCE 24 and the NYT reported that Yassin Salhi was being monitored since 2006 due to his association with “very radical” extremist groups. Police authorities arrested a second individual (Frédéric Jean Salvi), said to be “close” to him and is reportedly a radical cleric sought by Indonesian authorities, and his wife was also questioned, but has since been released. The president of the company targeted in the attack, Air Products, is a Shia Iranian named Seifi Ghasemi. Authorities believe Salhi may have been influenced or connected to ISIS.

On Friday June 26, the ISIS ally of Al-Shabab killed 50 in Somalia, in an attack on an African Union base in military base in southern Somalia, with another 20 soldiers and 40 civilians missing and feared kidnapped for Al-Shabab’s slavery. This followed a June 24 attack by Al-Shabab on a UAE diplomatic convoy by a suicide bomber killing six Muslims.

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) extends its prayers and sympathy to all those whose loved ones and lives were tragically impacted by such cowardly terrorist attacks.  These attacks demonstrate, once again, that the only real ideology such cowardly terrorists have is a commitment to the destruction of our universal shared human rights of freedom of religion, security, dignity, equality, and liberty.

These cowards who target those in prayer, those on the shore, and those simply going about the daily lives are not the “warriors” that claim to be.  They are sick, cowardly thugs who seek to snuff out the lives of children, women, elderly, and those who can’t defend themselves, because this is the only type of “fighting” capable by such cowards.  They rationalize their attacks on houses of worship, our children, mothers, and families as promoting an ideology, but the only ideology they have is cowardly hate.  We call for all those who glamorize such cowards to see them for who they really are in these attacks, mostly on Muslims, during Ramadan.

ISIS-Global-Cowardice

Responsible for Equality And Liberty is committed to our shared universal human rights, dignity, security for all people around the world, and in opposition to such criminal gangs who seek to rob us of our shared human rights.  We urge all people to defy such enemies of human rights, and to be responsible for equality and liberty.

Boko Haram’s War on Human Rights in Africa – 10,000 Killed in Past Year, 16 Towns Burned, 2,000 Killed or Missing in Past Week

The Global Terror Organization Boko Haram has been mounting an increasing war on the human rights and security of African people in multiple nations. Within the past week, this has included burning down 16 Nigerian towns and villages, killing many at a multinational military base, and international terrorist murders in Cameroon, as well as threatening Cameroon’s democracy. In the past year, Boko Haram-linked violence has resulted in over 10,000 violent deaths, based on studies developed by the by the Council for Foreign Relations (CFR). The terrorist group Boko Haram’s goals were previously focused on establishing “an Islamic state” in northeast Nigeria. It is now clear the Boko Haram has greater, international aims.

Update: On January 9, 2015, CNN has published this update that “[m]ore than 2,000 people were killed in attacks on 16 villages, said Musa Bukar, chairman of Kukawa local government, where Baga is located…. At least 30,000 people were displaced, authorities said.”

In October 2014, it was reported by the Director of Catholic Social Communication of Maiduguri Diocese, Rev. Gideon Obasogie, that Boko Haram had burned 185 churches, during Boko Haram’s attack and capture of 11 towns in Borno and Adamawa. He stated that over 190,000 people had been displaced.

In addition, Boko Haram has been holding over 200 schoolgirls that it kidnapped from schools in Chibok in the Nigerian Borno state in April 2014. News reports stated that the kidnapped (predominantly Christian) girls were “converted to Islam” and married to members of the Boko Haram terrorist organization for a “bride price” of $12.50. (This kidnapping has led to the social media campaign for their safe return, on Twitter at #BringBackOurGirls.) The London Times has reported that “more than 600 girls” have been kidnapped by the Boko Haram terror group. The name of the Boko Haram terror group translates into “Western education is sinful.”

The most recent wave of attacks began after a Boko Haram attack on January 3, 2015, where the global terrorist group overran a multinational military base for Nigeria, Chad, Niger, and Cameroon in Baga in Nigeria’s Borno state. In addition to military killed in the attack, civilians fleeing the Boko Haram were also killed while trying to flee across nearby Lake Chad.

Earlier that week before the attack on the Baga base, Boko Haram had kidnapped about 40 young men from surrounding villages. Boko Haram reportedly ordered villages to “attend a sermon,” then kidnapped young men aged 10 to 23 years old from the villages.

Over the past five days, the global terrorist organization Boko Haram has declared a war on towns across Nigeria, especially in the Nigerian Borno state.

This has been an ongoing war by Boko Haram on civilians, which has been escalating for months. In September 2014, the Nigerian Daily Post reported that “the streets of the Bama [town] in Maiduguri have been taken over by littered corpses two days after the militants claimed authority over the second largest Borno town.”

Nigeria: Borno State - Corpses Line Streets in Bama Town - Boko Haram Claims Victory (Source: Nigerian Daily Post). Daily Post also stated "Boko Haram fighters are currently patrolling the streets of Bama, stopping residents from burying littered corpses."

In the past week, the Nigerian News reported the Boko Haram had destroyed at least 16 towns and villages in Nigeria. On January 8, 2015, some Nigeria media and NBC reported that included the Boko Haram capture of Baga, which was the last Nigerian-government controlled town in Northern Borno.

The AFP has reported such violence throughout Nigeria’s Borno state, from a local government and a union official. AFP reports: “‘They burnt to the ground all the 16 towns and villages including Baga, Dorn-Baga, Mile 4, Mile 3, Kauyen Kuros and Bunduram,’ said Musa Bukar, head of the Kukawa local government in Borno state.”

NBC reports that “more than 2,000 people are unaccounted for” after the Boko Haram torching of the Borno state towns and villages. Ahmed Zanna, a senator for Borno state where the attack happened, told NBC that “these towns are just gone, burned down… the whole area is covered in bodies.”

NBC also reports that Nigerians expect the Boko Haram to attempt to disrupt Nigerian national elections planned for February 14, 2015.

The terrorist group Boko Haram has demonstrated that it is more than a Nigerian-based terror threat with killings in Cameroon and further threats of violent attacks on Cameroon if it did not submit to Boko Haram. Since the beginning of the New Year, Boko Haram has been attacking Cameroon, and Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly killed 15 people in Cameroon.

As reported in numerous media, on January 7, 2015, a Boko Haram leader also issued a YouTube video to call for Cameroon to denounce democracy and to embrace Boko Haram’s religious views.

The UK Independent has reported that Boko Haram made the following threat and demands by video to the nation of Cameroon: “I advise you to desist from following your constitution and democracy, which is un-Islamic… The only language of peace is to repent and follow Allah, but if you do not then we will communicate it to you through the language of violence.”

Responsible for Equality and Liberty (R.E.A.L.) has other reports on the attacks against Christian churches and Nigerian citizens. R.E.A.L. posted a report on May 2014 attacks where 50 churches were burned and 500 Christians killed. R.E.A.L. posted a report on October 2014 attacks where 185 churches were burned and over 190,00 displaced.

In November 2013, the U.S. Department of State designated Boko Haram as a Global Terrorist Organization (GTO), which Boko Haram is increasingly demonstrating by its international terrorist activities. Boko Haram has been linked to other global terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda, all of which seek to deny universal human rights to our fellow human beings.

Our support for the Universal Human Rights of all people must be for all nations, all continents, and every place on Earth. We seek to be responsible for equality and liberty for the oppressed people in Africa and every part of our shared world. We must call upon the nations of the world to take action to stop the growing violence and threat from the international terrorist organization Boko Haram, their kidnapping of children, their efforts to deny freedom of conscience, and their rejection of our shared universal human rights of equality, liberty, dignity, and security. We call for the President of the United States to also make a statement and offer his support to Nigeria and the African nations affected by this global terror groups actions, and to end their reign of terror over children and the people of Africa.

Slavery in Pakistan: “Girl sold in open auction”

Pakistan: “Girl sold in open auction”
— The Nation reports
– “no one condemned” the open slavery sale:
— “A 20-year-old girl was auctioned at village Badani Bhutto of Taluka Kashmore in consideration of Rs2,70,000 on Saturday.”
— “Azizan, daughter of late Allah Bux Bhutto, was divorced on the allegation of Karo-kari some time back. She is stated to be mother of two children and was residing with her brother who held the open auction for her ‘sale’ at village Badani Bhutto.”
— “A large number of villagers showed interest in the auction that started with Rs50,000 and ended at Rs270,000. Bilawal Bhutto, 50, of the same village purchased her for the said amount. Initially he paid Rs210,000 for the girl.”
— “Maulana Azizullah Bhutto performed their nikah later.
— “It is irony of the situation that no one condemned the inhuman act. The groom will take the bride to his house after paying the rest of the amount. The auction money was distributed equally among all the brothers of the girl.”

Pakistan: “Make slavery history, civil society urges government”
— Pakistan Daily Times
: “Activists maintain that slavery still exists in Pakistan in the form of bonded labour, human trafficking, forced marriages, and the exploitation of women and chiuldren. They stressed that legislation outlawing slavery should be properly implemented.”
— “They also urged the government to legislate to stop internal human trafficking, which was still not acknowledged as a crime in Pakistan.”
— “They urged parliament to assert its authority to improve the human rights condition of the country and to end slavery. Talking to Daily Times, HRCP Vice Chairman Dr Mehdi Hasan said that slavery did not exist on paper, but in reality it was very much present in Pakistan. Dr Mehdi said that laws outlawing such activities did exist, but were unfortunately not implemented. He said civil society, the media and parliament needed to shift their priorities, they needed to talk more about the issues of the common man.”

Egypt: “The Disappearance, Forced Conversions, and Forced Marriages of Coptic Christian Women in Egypt”

A new report entitled “The Disappearance, Forced Conversions, and Forced Marriages of Coptic Christian Women in Egypt” has been released by the Christian Solidarity International and the Coptic Foundation for Human Rights on the ongoing struggle for freedom and dignity of Coptic Christian women in Egypt.

Coptic Christian Women Reportedly Kidnapped for Forced Conversion to Islam
Coptic Christian Women Reportedly Kidnapped for Forced Conversion to Islam (AINA)

Preface of the report reads:

“Reports of Muslim men abducting and forcibly marrying and converting Coptic Christian women and girls have filtered out of Egypt with increasing frequency over the past decade. The emerging patterns of force, fraud and coercion correspond to definitions of human trafficking used by the United Nations and the U.S. Department of State., with the UN identifying it as a ‘crime against humanity’.1  These violations of fundamental human rights appear to be encouraged by the prevalence of cultural norms in Egypt – often rooted in Islamic traditions – that legitimize violence against women and non-Muslims. They appear to be further abetted by the tacit complicity of the government as evidenced by its lack of willingness to thoroughly investigate allegations of rape, abduction and abuse or to reinstate policies designed to protect Egyptians from coerced conversion by educating potential converts of the full implications of conversion.”

“Details of trafficking cases involving Copts often reach the West through desperately worried relatives of victims. When the Egyptian police fail to find and return (or often even search for) victims of abduction, forced marriage and conversion, some relatives summon the courage to release information and photos to Coptic human rights organizations in the diaspora.”

“The violent abuse of Coptic women and girls in connection with forced marriage and conversion is not altogether new. The Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church, Pope Shenouda III, protested against this phenomenon in 1976, declaring: ‘There is pressure being practiced to convert Coptic girls to Islam and marry them under terror to Muslim husbands.’2   But the issue has now reached boiling point within Egypt’s Coptic community.”

“As the prestigious Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram Weekly recently noted:

‘It is the question of the alleged conversion and forced marriage of Coptic girls to Muslim men that elicits the greatest passions. In July [2009] alone three separate incidents received much publicity in the press. Pharmaceuticals student Rania Tawfik Asaad was ostensibly abducted in Giza and forced to marry a Muslim. Two other cases, those of Marian Bishai, Amira Morgan and Injy Basta, also hit the headlines.’3 ”

“Despite the accumulation of substantial evidence and the expressions of concern by the most senior leader of the Coptic community, this aspect of human trafficking has scarcely been acknowledged by the world’s most powerful human rights institutions, including those dedicated to the issue of trafficking in persons. The Coptic Foundation for Human Rights and Christian Solidarity International (CSI) therefore commissioned an anti-trafficking specialist, Michele Clark, and a Coptic women’s rights advocate, Nadia Ghaly, to undertake an investigation of allegations surrounding the abductions and forced marriages and conversions to Islam in Egypt. They performed outstanding pioneering work, interviewing victims, their relatives, lawyers, priests and other Coptic community leaders.”

“This report documents dozens of specific cases and demonstrates consistent patterns used by the perpetrators, their victims, government and law enforcement, and members of Egypt’s faith communities. The report concludes with a valuable set of practical and critical recommendations for the Coptic community, the Government of Egypt and the international community. The findings of Ms. Ghaly and Ms. Clark are deeply disturbing, and should challenge human rights activists and institutions, especially those whose mandate includes women’s rights and trafficking in persons, to undertake, as a matter of urgency, further research into this form of gender and religious based violence against Coptic women and girls in Egypt.”

Gender Imbalance in Human Trafficking
Introduction, page 36 (hard copy), page 38 (electronic)

“The root causes of migration and trafficking greatly overlap. The lack of rights afforded to women serves as the primary causative factor at the root of both women’s migrations and trafficking in women…By failure to protect and promote women’s civil, political, economic and social rights, governments create situations in which trafficking flourishes.”
— Radhika Coomaraswamy, UN Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women

———————————————————————

“According to the ILO, the majority of people trafficked for sexual exploitation or subjected to forced labor are female.”

“According to researchers, both the supply and demand sides of the trade in human beings are fed by ‘gendered’ vulnerabilities to trafficking. These vulnerabilities are the result of political, economic, and development processes that may leave some women socially and economically dependent on men. If that support from men becomes limited or withdrawn, women become dangerously susceptible to abuse. They often have no individual protection or recognition under the law, inadequate access to healthcare and education, poor employment prospects, little opportunity to own property, or high levels of social isolation. All this makes some women easy targets for harassment, violence, and human trafficking.”

“Research links the disproportionate demand for female trafficking victims to the growth of certain ‘feminized’ economic sectors (commercial sex, the ‘bride trade,’ domestic service) and other sectors characterized by low wages, hazardous conditions, and an absence of collective bargaining mechanisms. Exploitative employers prefer to use trafficked women — traditionally seen as submissive, cheap, and pliable — for simple and repetitive tasks in agriculture, food processing, labor-intensive manufacturing, and domestic servitude.”

“In countries where women’s economic status has improved, significantly fewer local women participate in commercial sex. Traffickers bring in more female victims to address the demand and also take advantage of women who migrate voluntarily to work in any industry. As commercial sex is illegal in most countries, traffickers use the resulting illegal status of migrant women that have been trafficked into commercial sex to threaten or coerce them against leaving. Gendered vulnerabilities fostered by social and institutional weaknesses in some societies — discriminatory laws and practices that tie a woman’s legal recognition, property rights, and economic opportunities to someone else — make women more likely than men to become trafficking victims. A woman who exists only through a male guardian who controls her income, identification, citizenship, and physical well-being is more susceptible to becoming a trafficking victim.”

“The ninth annual Trafficking in Persons Report sheds light on the faces of modern-day slavery and on new facets of this global problem. The human trafficking phenomenon affects virtually every country, including the United States. In acknowledging America’s own struggle with modern-day slavery and slavery-related practices, we offer partnership. We call on every government to join us in working to build consensus and leverage resources to eliminate all forms of human trafficking.”
