American ISIS: New York Mufid A. Elfgeeh Pleads Guilty to ISIS Terror Group Support

In New York State, an American ISIS recruit from Rochester, Mufid A. Elfgeeh, pleaded guilty to support for the ISIS terrorist on December 17, 2015.  He pleaded guilty to two counts of trying to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. He could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison, but federal prosecutors said they will recommend 22½ years behind bars.

Mufid A. Elfgeeh was a recruit for ISIS, who pleaded guilty to providing material support to ISIS, but who (as the FBI also previously reported) had purchased multiple guns with silencers to kill American soldiers who had returned from Iraq.

The Buffalo News reports that “Elfgeeh’s admissions, part of a plea agreement approved in Rochester Federal Court, makes him the first Western New Yorker to plead guilty to a charge of recruiting for ISIS.  Charged in September of last year, Elfgeeh was accused of trying to recruit three others to join the Islamic State of Syria and fight overseas. He also was charged with attempted murder for his alleged role in planning to kill former and current members of the U.S. military.”

American ISIS recruit Mufid A. Elfgeeh was arrested in June 2014, and was indicted in September 2014.   He was initially charged with one count of attempted murder of current and former members of the United States military, one count of possessing firearms equipped with silencers in furtherance of a crime of violence, and two counts of receipt and possession of unregistered firearm silencers.

Mufid-Elfgeeh

In September 2014, the U.S. Department of Justice reported on the indictment of Mufid Elfgeeh:

Attorney General Eric Holder, Assistant Attorney General for National Security John Carlin and U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. for the Western District of New York announced today that a federal grand jury in Rochester has returned a seven-count indictment charging Mufid A. Elfgeeh, 30, of Rochester, with three counts of attempting to provide material support and resources to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), aka the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization. In addition, Elfgeeh is also charged with one count of attempted murder of current and former members of the United States military, one count of possessing firearms equipped with silencers in furtherance of a crime of violence, and two counts of receipt and possession of unregistered firearm silencers.

“We will remain aggressive in identifying and disrupting those who seek to provide support to ISIL and other terrorist groups that are bent on inflicting harm upon Americans,” said Attorney General Holder. “As this case shows, our agents and prosecutors are using all the investigative tools at our disposal to break up these plots before individuals can put their plans into action. We are focused on breaking up these activities on the front end, before supporters of ISIL can make good on plans to travel to the region or recruit sympathizers to this cause.”

The material support charges each carry a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, the attempted murder charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, the firearms possession charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 30 years and a maximum of life in prison, and the firearm silencer charges each carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

According to court records, Elfgeeh attempted to provide material support to ISIS in the form of personnel, namely three individuals, two of whom were cooperating with the FBI. Elfgeeh attempted to assist all three individuals in traveling to Syria to join and fight on behalf of ISIS. Elfgeeh also plotted to shoot and kill members of the United States military who had returned from Iraq. As part of the plan to kill soldiers, Elfgeeh purchased two handguns equipped with firearm silencers and ammunition from a confidential source. The handguns were made inoperable by the FBI before the confidential source gave them to Elfgeeh.

According to court documents, in 2013 and into early 2014, Elfgeeh encouraged the two confidential sources (CS-1 and CS-2) to travel overseas to engage in violent jihad. After CS-1 and CS-2 agreed to travel to Syria to join ISIS, Elfgeeh took several steps to prepare them for the trip. Elfgeeh also sent $600 to an individual in Yemen for the purpose of assisting that individual in traveling from Yemen to Syria for the purpose of joining and fighting on behalf of ISIS.

Court documents also indicate that Elfgeeh first discussed the idea of shooting United States military members in December 2013 when he told CS-2 that he was thinking about getting a gun and ammunition, putting on a bulletproof vest, and “just go[ing] around and start shooting.” In February 2014, Elfgeeh told CS-2 that he needed a handgun and silencer. Elfgeeh later gave CS-2 $1,050 in cash to purchase two handguns equipped with silencers and ammunition. On May 31, 2014, CS-2 delivered the two handguns equipped with silencers and ammunition to Elfgeeh. After Elfgeeh took possession of the items, he was arrested by members of the Rochester Joint Terrorism Task Force. Elfgeeh is currently being held in custody.

He was charged in U.S. District court in Baltimore with “attempting to provide material support or resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization, obstruction of agency proceedings, and making false statements and falsifying or concealing material facts.” Details of his ISIS activity are described in the criminal complaint.  He reportedly used a social media account “Egyptt in USA” (with two ts).

The FBI said Elshinawy was instructed by ISIS to “cause destruction” or to conduct a terrorist attack in the United States. He allegedly pretended to sell printers on eBay to mask payments coming from a suspected ISIS operative. Elshinawy received the payments through Western Union and PayPal, authorities said.

NBC reports Mohamad Elshinawy allegedly pledged his allegiance to ISIS and said his “soul was over there with the jihadists,” according to the FBI.

NBC reports that the FBI reported and declared a “love of jihad.”

NBC states: “An address listed in a search warrant for Elshinawy’s Edgewood home in Harford County shows he lives about two minutes from the U.S. Army’s Aberdeen Proving Ground.”

R.E.A.L. determined that a user “Egyptt in USA” was using PalTalk for meetings.

Elshinawy-Complaint-Snapshot-002A

The U.S. Justice Department reports:

Mohamed Elshinawy, 30, of Edgewood, Maryland, was arrested on Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, on a federal criminal complaint charging him with attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), a designated foreign terrorist organization; obstruction of agency proceedings; and making false statements and falsifying or concealing material facts. Elshinawy will have his initial appearance today at 2:45 p.m. EST before U.S. Magistrate Judge Beth P. Gesner of the District of Maryland in Baltimore.

The criminal complaint was announced by Assistant Attorney General for National Security John P. Carlin, U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein of the District of Maryland and Special Agent in Charge Kevin Perkins of the FBI’s Baltimore Division.

“According to the allegations in the complaint, Mohamed Elshinawy received money he believed was provided by ISIL in order to conduct an attack on U.S. soil,” said Assistant Attorney General Carlin. “When confronted by the FBI, he lied in order to conceal his support for ISIL and the steps he took to provide material support to the deadly foreign terrorist organization. He will now be held accountable for these crimes. The National Security Division’s highest priority is counterterrorism and we will continue to pursue and disrupt those who seek to provide material support to ISIL.”

“This case demonstrates how terrorists exploit modern technology to inculcate sympathizers and build hidden networks, but federal agents and prosecutors are working tirelessly and using every available lawful tool to disrupt their evil schemes,” said U.S. Attorney Rosenstein. “The affidavit alleges that Mr. Elshinawy initially told the FBI that he was defrauding the terrorists, but further investigation showed that Mr. Elshinawy was supporting the terrorists and misleading the FBI.”

The affidavit filed in federal court alleges that in June 2015, the FBI became aware of an individual located in Egypt who was attempting to send money to the United States, possibly for nefarious purposes. The investigation revealed that on June 28, 2015, that individual wire transferred $1,000 to Elshinawy. The FBI interviewed Elshinawy on July 17, 2015. The affidavit alleges that Elshinawy first claimed that his mother had sent him the money, and then that the money was to purchase an iPhone for a friend. Later, he admitted that a childhood friend had contacted him a few months earlier to connect him, through social media, with an unidentified member of ISIL (referred to in the complaint as the “unidentified ISIL operative”). Elshinawy began communicating with the unidentified ISIL operative through a method of communication used by ISIL. The defendant also admitted that he understood the individual in Egypt who wire transferred the money on June 28, 2015, also to be an ISIL operative (referred to in the complaint as the “Egyptian ISIL operative”).

Elshinawy said that he had received a total of $4,000 in two payments –$1,000 through Western Union and $3,000 through PayPal – and that the ISIL operative instructed Elshinawy to use the monies for “operational purposes,” which Elshinawy understood to mean causing destruction or conducting a terrorist attack in the United States. Elshinawy stated that ISIL instructed him that if he ever came under surveillance by law enforcement, he should stop whatever activities he was doing in connection with executing an attack. Elshinawy claimed, however, that he never intended to carry out an attack and was only trying to get money from ISIL.

The affidavit further alleges that during a second interview with the FBI on July 20, 2015, Elshinawy stated emphatically that he received no other funds from ISIL other than the $4,000 he had previously disclosed. Later, however, Elshinawy said that he remembered receiving another payment of $1,200 from ISIL through PayPal, from the same unidentified ISIL operative, by order of a man in Syria. In this instance, Elshinawy explained that in order to receive the transfers from the unidentified ISIL operative, he engaged in a scheme by which he pretended to sell printers on eBay that would serve as a cover for the payments he received from ISIL.

A review of PayPal records indicates that Elshinawy allegedly concealed at least $3,500 of $7,700 that he received from ISIL operatives through his PayPal account between March and June 2015, specifically, $1,500 on March 23; $1,000 on April 16; $1,000 on May 1; $3,000 on May 14; and $1,200 on June 7. In total, Elshinawy allegedly received at least $8,700 from individuals he understood to be associated with ISIL.

According to the affidavit, Elshinawy used social media, multiple email accounts and “pay as you go” phones subscribed to him under various aliases to communicate with the individuals he understood to be associated with ISIL.

The social media communications between Elshinawy and his childhood friend were in Arabic, and many contained jihadist rhetoric found in ISIL- and other terrorist-related propaganda.

The investigation revealed that on Feb. 17, 2015, Elshinawy pledged his allegiance to ISIL and asked his childhood friend to deliver his message of loyalty. He stated that he was a soldier of the state, a common reference to ISIL, but temporarily away. Elshinawy also stated that his soul was over there with the jihadists and that every time he saw the news, he smiled. At the time of this conversation, ISIL recently had conducted a series of attacks and gained territory in Iraq. On Feb. 16, 2015, a video was publicly released showing the execution of 21 Egyptian nationals in Libya by ISIL extremists.

Also on Feb. 17, 2015, the childhood friend told Elshinawy to seek God’s help and not tell anyone his plans for a terrorist attack. Elshinawy agreed and acknowledged that it is a crime in the United States. He further declared his allegiance to committing jihad.

The investigation also revealed that on April 27, 2015, Elshinawy told his brother that he had pledged allegiance to ISIL and that he had received money from ISIL and expected to receive even more. In further communications with his brother in May 2015, Elshinawy stated his desire to die as a martyr for the Islamic State (ISIL), and in August 2015, he directed his brother to take steps to conceal their communications and any communications with the childhood friend, because Elshinawy believed his relationship with ISIL had been compromised.

Elshinawy’s sentence will be determined by the court after review of factors unique to this case, including the defendant’s prior criminal history, if any, the defendant’s role in the offense and the characteristics of the violation. The maximum sentence of imprisonment for attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization is 15 years; for obstruction of agency proceedings is eight years; and for making material false statements is eight years.

A criminal complaint is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by complaint is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The case is being investigated by the FBI. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christine Manuelian of the District of Maryland, with the assistance of Trial Attorney John Gibbs of the National Security Division’s Counterterrorism Section.

American ISIS – Minneapolis – Khaalid Adam Abdulkadir Arrested

On December 11, 2015, another man linked to the Minneapolis, Minnesota area American ISIS gang, Khaalid Adam Abdulkadir, was arrested today for making Twitter threats to kill Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents after an American ISIS terror suspect Abdirizak Mohamed Warsame was arrested on December 10.

Khaalid Adam Abdulkadir made threats on Twitter to kill FBI agents, if American ISIS terror suspects were not released from custody.  Reports state a detention hearing was scheduled for December 16. He will be held by U.S. Marshals until that court date.

The complaint also alleges Abdulkadir was in touch with two other former Minneapolis men who authorities say have become online recruiters. According to direct messages Twitter provided to investigators, Abdulkadir asked a man who goes by the name Mujahid Miski for advice on how to get to Syria.

Minneapolis KTSP news reporter Lindsey Brown managed to obtain a screen shot of the threatening posts by  Khaalid Adam Abdulkadir, which included threats such as:

— “More brother get locked up the cops body they will find on the floor body’s dropping fast #kill them F B I and f*** as judge”

— “F*** them F.B.I. I’m kill them FEDS for take my brothers”

In April 2015, a previous American ISIS terror suspect made a Twitter threat to  kill the U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

American ISIS – New Jersey Man Confesses ISIS Terror Conspiracy

On December 10, 2015, the U.S. Department of Justice reports that American ISIS recruit Nader Saadeh from Rutherford, New Jersey, has confessed to conspiring to support the ISIS terrorist organization. The FBI has also reported that: “Nader Saadeh said that ISIL’s execution of a captured Jordanian Air Force pilot by burning him alive and the murders of several staff members of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris earlier this year were justified.” He sought to recruit an army of American ISIS terrorists.  IBD reported: “Perhaps most chilling, the radicalization of the Saadeh boys appears to have had the blessing of their Jordanian father, who had been deported from the U.S. along with Saadeh’s mother after “sustaining criminal convictions.” The FBI says the father advised one of his sons to ‘delete everything off his phone’ to avoid federal authorities detecting their plans.”

The U.S. Department of Justice states:

A former resident of Bergen County, New Jersey, today admitted that he conspired to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), a designated foreign terrorist organization, announced Assistant Attorney General for National Security John P. Carlin, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman of the District of New Jersey and Special Agent in Charge Richard M. Frankel of the FBI’s Newark Division.

Nader Saadeh, 20, a former resident of Rutherford, New Jersey, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton of the District of New Jersey in Newark to an information charging him with one count of conspiring with others to provide material support to ISIL. He remains detained without bail.

“Nader Saadeh conspired with others, including his brother, to travel to Syria to join ISIL,” said Assistant Attorney General Carlin. “Counterterrorism is the National Security Division’s highest priority and we will continue to hold accountable those who seek to provide material support to designated foreign terrorist organizations.”

“Nader Saadeh is the last of the three defendants charged in the District of New Jersey in this case to admit his role in trying to provide material support to a known terrorist organization,” said U.S. Attorney Fishman. “ISIL is intent on threatening the safety of Americans here and abroad, and we and our law enforcement partners are just as intent on stopping them.”

“Today in the District Court of New Jersey Nader Saadeh admitted he conspired to provide material to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL),” said Special Agent in Charge Frankel. “He is one of three New Jersey men who conspired to travel overseas to join ISIL but were stopped by the outstanding work of the Newark FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force. I ask the citizens of New Jersey to remain vigilant and contact the FBI if they see or hear something suspicious.”

On August 10, 2015, the FBI previously reported on:

A former resident of Bergen County, New Jersey, was arrested this morning for allegedly conspiring and attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), a designated foreign terrorist organization.

The announcement was made by Assistant Attorney General for National Security John P. Carlin, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman of the District of New Jersey and Special Agent in Charge Richard M. Frankel of the FBI’s Newark, New Jersey, Division.

Nader Saadeh, 20, a former resident of Rutherford, New Jersey, is charged by complaint with conspiring with other individuals in New Jersey and New York to provide material support to ISIL and with attempting to provide material support to ISIL. He is scheduled to appear at 1:30 p.m. EDT before U.S. Magistrate Judge Cathy L. Waldor of the District of New Jersey.

According to documents filed in this case:

The FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) have been investigating a group of individuals from New York and New Jersey who have allegedly conspired to provide material support to ISIL. Nader Saadeh lived in Rutherford until leaving the country on May 5, 2015, allegedly to join ISIL. Nader Saadeh’s brother, Alaa Saadeh, was a resident of West New York, New Jersey, until he was arrested on June 29, 2015, and charged with conspiring to provide material support to ISIL, aiding and abetting an attempt to provide material support to ISIL and witness tampering. Samuel Rahamin Topaz was a resident of Fort Lee, New Jersey, until he was arrested on June 17, 2015, and charged with conspiring to provide material support to ISIL. Conspirator 1 (CC-1) was a Queens, New York, resident until he was arrested in New York on June 13, 2015, on terrorism charges.

Between 2012 and 2013, Nader Saadeh sent CC-1 electronic messages expressing his hatred for the United States and desire to form a small army that would include their friends. On July 1, 2014, the day ISIL’s leader declared an Islamic caliphate in Syria and Iraq, Nader Saadeh posted images of ISIL’s flag and the flag of the Islamic caliphate on his Facebook page.

According to an informant who was close to him for years, by April 2015, Nader Saadeh had become a radicalized supporter of ISIL who was preparing to travel overseas with other individuals. In addition, Nader Saadeh said that ISIL’s execution of a captured Jordanian Air Force pilot by burning him alive and the murders of several staff members of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris earlier this year were justified.

During the investigation, the FBI obtained computer files showing that Nader Saadeh viewed ISIL propaganda videos and researched the availability of flights to Turkey, which borders Syria, where ISIL claims to control territory. The FBI also obtained electronic messages sent to Nader Saadeh on April 21, 2015, by family members living overseas, including his mother, who pleaded for him not to join ISIL.

On May 5, 2015, Nader Saadeh traveled overseas via John F. Kennedy International Airport, allegedly in order to join ISIL. On his way to the airport, while accompanied by Alaa Saadeh and CC-1, he said that he, Alaa Saadeh, CC-1 and Topaz had plans to reunite overseas within a few weeks.

On the day of his arrest, Topaz told the FBI that he agreed with Nader Saadeh, CC-1 and Alaa Saadeh to travel to join ISIL. In addition, Alaa Saadeh told the FBI in a post-arrest interview that he, Nader Saadeh and Topaz all watched ISIL propaganda videos together and discussed going overseas to join ISIL. Alaa Saadeh also stated that the night before Nader Saadeh left for Jordan, CC-1 provided Nader Saadeh with the name and number of an ISIL contact near the Turkey/Syria border who would facilitate his travel to ISIL-controlled territory.

Each count in the complaint carries a maximum of potential penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

American ISIS – Akron, Ohio Indicted for Terror Solicitation of Murder

An American ISIS recruit from Akron, Ohio, Terrence J. McNeil, has been indicted for soliciting the murder of U.S. military personnel and posting specific personal information on and photographs of 100 U.S. service members to assist in targeting them for terrorist attacks in the United States, specifically calling for the beheading of such Americans.

American ISIS terror plotter McNeil claimed it was his religious duty to promote murder, stating: “O Brothers in America, know that the jihad against the crusaders is not limited to the lands of the Khilafah, it is a world-wide jihad and their war is not just a war against the Islamic State, it is a war against Islam…Know that it is wajib (translated to “necessary”) for you to kill these kuffar! and now we have made it easy for you by giving you addresses, all you need to do is take the final step, so what are you waiting for? Kill them in their own lands, behead them in their own homes, stab them to death as they walk their streets thinking that they are safe…”

Ohio-ISIS-Military-Threats-Plot

On December, 8, 2015, the FBI reported that:

A six-count indictment was filed today charging an Akron, Ohio, man for soliciting the murder of members of the U.S. military.

Terrence J. McNeil, 25, was indicted on three counts of solicitation of a crime of violence and three counts of threatening military personnel. He was arrested on Nov. 12, 2015, on federal charges that he solicited the murder of members of the U.S. military.

The charge was announced by Assistant Attorney General for National Security John P. Carlin, U.S. Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach of the Northern District of Ohio and Special Agent in Charge Stephen D. Anthony of the FBI’s Cleveland Division.

“According to the indictment, Terrence McNeil solicited the murder of members of our military by disseminating ISIL’s violent rhetoric, circulating detailed U.S. military personnel information and explicitly calling for the killing of American service members in their homes and communities,” said Assistant Attorney General Carlin. “ISIL and its followers continue to use social media in an attempt to incite violence around the world, including in the United States. The National Security Division’s highest priority is counterterrorism and we will use all of our tools to disrupt threats and acts of violence against our military members and their families.”

On November 15, 2015, the FBI reported that:

An Akron, Ohio, man was arrested today on federal charges that he solicited the murder of members of the U.S. military.

Terrence J. McNeil, 25, appeared in U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Ohio after being charged with one count of solicitation of a crime of violence.

The charge was announced by Assistant Attorney General John P. Carlin, U.S. Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach of the Northern District of Ohio and Special Agent in Charge Stephen D. Anthony of the FBI’s Cleveland Division.

“According to the allegations in the complaint, Terrence McNeil solicited the murder of members of our military by disseminating ISIL’s violent rhetoric, circulating detailed U.S. military personnel information, and explicitly calling for the killing of American service members in their homes and communities,” said Assistant Attorney General Carlin. “ISIL and its followers continue to use social media in an attempt to incite violence around the world, including in the United States. The National Security Division’s highest priority is counterterrorism and we will use all of our tools to disrupt threats and acts of violence against our military members and their families.”

“As this nation honors our veterans, we must make clear that we will not tolerate threats of violence against our service members,’ said U.S. Attorney Dettelbach. “This defendant is charged with urging harm to our men and women in uniform and will now answer for those threats.”

“While we aggressively defend First Amendment rights, the individual arrested went far beyond free speech by reposting names and addresses of 100 U.S. service members, all with the intent to have them killed,” said Special Agent in Charge Anthony. “We will remain vigilant in our efforts to stop those who wish to support these despicable acts.”

According to an affidavit filed in the case:

McNeil professed his support on social media on numerous occasions for the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL), a designated foreign terrorist organization.

On or about Sept. 24, 2015, using a Tumblr account, McNeil reblogged a file with the banner “Islamic State Hacking Division,” followed by “Target: United States Military” and “Leak: Addresses of 100 U.S. Military Personnel.”

The file type is a .gif file, which allows multiple still images to be looped in one file, with a timed delay between each image. The text of the first file reads “O Brothers in America, know that the jihad against the crusaders is not limited to the lands of the Khilafah, it is a world-wide jihad and their war is not just a war against the Islamic State, it is a war against Islam…Know that it is wajib (translated to “necessary”) for you to kill these kuffar! and now we have made it easy for you by giving you addresses, all you need to do is take the final step, so what are you waiting for? Kill them in their own lands, behead them in their own homes, stab them to death as they walk their streets thinking that they are safe…”

The file then loops several dozen photographs, purportedly of U.S. military personnel, along with their respective name, address and military branch.

The final image looped is a picture of a handgun and a knife with text that reads “…and kill them wherever you find them…”

A charge is not evidence of guilt. It is the government’s burden to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt, and a defendant is presumed innocent until that time.

The case is being investigated by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force in Cleveland. This case is being prosecuted by U.S. Attorney’s Office

Illinois – American ISIS Recruit – Jonas Edmonds Pleads Guilty

American ISIS terrorist Jonas Edmonds planned to be dressed as a U.S. Army soldier when he attacked the United States.

The U.S. Department of Justice reported on December 10, 2015 that American ISIS terrorist Jonas Edmonds, from Aurora, Illinois, pleaded  guilty” to federal charges involving conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization in the Middle East. According to the plea agreement, Jonas Edmonds intended to carry out an act of terrorism in the United States after Hasan Edmonds had departed for the Middle East. Specifically, in March 2015, the cousins devised a plan for Jonas Edmonds to carry out an armed attack at the U.S. Army National Guard base in Joliet, Illinois, during which time Hasan Edmonds was a member of the Army National Guard and had been training at the Joliet installation. According to the plea agreement, the plan called for Hasan Edmonds to provide military uniforms for Jonas Edmonds to wear during the attack, as well as a list of officers for Jonas Edmonds to kill.”

Jonas Edmonds and his cousin, Army National Guard Specialist Hasan Edmonds, were recruited by the ISIS terrorist organization to commit acts of terror.

As previously reported, “Jonas Edmonds asked the FBI undercover employee to assist in the attack and explained that they would use Hasan Edmonds’ uniforms and the information he supplied about how to access the installation and target officers for attack.”

As the New Yorker also reported on their case, Jonas Edmonds wrote “about ‘bring[ing] the pain to them here,’ maximizing ‘damage and mayhem,’ and ‘something like the brother in Paris did.’ ”

American ISIS Terrorist Linked to Al-Huda

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) has learned that American ISIS terrorist Tashfeen Malik was linked to the Pakistan-based Al-Huda Institute, where she obtained religious training, which other Muslims have described as extremist.  On December 3, 2015, R.E.A.L. reported on our investigative research where we had discovered that Rafia Farook was also a supporter of the Al-Huda Institute on Facebook, before Rafia Farook took her Facebook site down.  We captured a screenshot before it went offline, and reported on this subject in another report.  As we reported, many Muslim women and Muslim men rejected and were critical of the Al-Huda Institute as being extreme.

In addition, the UK Guardian also did a follow-up report titled “San Bernardino shooter’s ‘hardline’ Islam not an outlier in native Pakistan,” stating “Tashfeen Malik’s daily life was a common one that has not been an indicator of radicalization: ‘She’s a typical small-town, educated, middle-class conservative’.”  As R.E.A.L. reported on December 3, this is not the case among many Muslim women and men who rejected the views of Al-Huda.

Dawn/AFP Report: California shooter studied at Al-Huda institute: teacher
MULTAN: The woman who, with her husband, shot dead 14 people in California last week attended one of the most high-profile religious teaching centres for women in Pakistan, a teacher at the Al-Huda institute told AFP Monday.

Tashfeen Malik, 29, studied at the Al-Huda Institute in Multan, which admits middle-class women and also has offices in the US, the UAE, India and the UK, the teacher at the teaching centre who gave her name only as Muqadas said.

“It was a two-year course, but she did not finish it,” the teacher Muqadas said. “She was a good girl. I don’t know why she left and what happened to her.”

The teacher did not say when Malik studied at the Al-Huda institute, but fellow classmates at the Bahauddin Zakariya University said she had attended the institute after classes at the university, which she attended from 2007-2013.

Farhat Hashmi’s organisation, Al-Huda institute, has no known extremist links, though it has come under fire in the past from critics who say its ideology is extremist in nature.

Malik and her husband Syed Farook, 28, went on a killing spree at a social services centre in San Bernardino. Investigators suspect that Malik, who went to the United States (US) on a fiancee’s visa and spent extended periods of time in both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, may have radicalised her husband.

The probe is trying to establish if she had contact with radicals in either country.

An administration official at the academy in Multan said he could neither confirm nor deny that Malik had studied there, and said he would discuss the issue with management.

“But we have nothing to do with it (the shooting) and are not responsible for our students’ personal acts,” he added.

One of Malik’s former classmates at the Bahauddin Zakariya University in Multan, where she studied pharmacology, told AFP she had attended the institute after classes, saying she “drastically changed” during her time there.

“Gradually she became more serious and strict,” said the student, requesting anonymity.

A second university student who also requested anonymity confirmed the account.

Pakistan has pledged to crack down on religious seminaries suspected of being breeding grounds for intolerance or even fostering extremism, with the country’s information minister Pervez Rashid terming them “universities of illiteracy and ignorance”. However the government’s efforts to rein in madrassas have prompted anger from many clerics.

American ISIS Supporters Committed San Bernardino Terrorist Attack

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L) has received multiple reports from news and law enforcement sources indicating a link between the December 2, 2015 San Bernardino terrorist attack and the ISIS terrorist group.  After receiving repeated confirmation from multiple sources, we must recognize that the bloody San Bernardino terrorist attack has been the first “successful” act of terror on the United States homeland by supporters of the ISIS terrorist group.

American-ISIS-First-Attack

R.E.A.L. calls for an organized and honest discussion of the current challenges of ISIS to people around the world, as well as American ISIS recruits.  R.E.A.L. calls for a renewed awareness among human rights groups on the importance of the “War of Ideas” in supporting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by Americans and by all people as a tool to defy the extremist and terrorist ideologies that reject anti-human rights ideologies, defying human rights, human dignity, and human life/security.  In response to this terrorist attack on America, we call for the American people to make a public stand of defiance in support of Universal Human Rights on Thursday, December 10, Human Rights Day.

On December 2, 2015, American ISIS supporters and terrorists Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik attacked the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, shooting San Bernardino county workers, resulting in 14 killed and 17 wounded.  They also reportedly unsuccessfully tried to develop a remote control bomb detonator for IED bombs.

On December 4, 2015, news media  reported that 27 year old woman terrorist Tashfeen Malik “posted to Facebook pledging allegiance to Islamic State militant group (ISIS) leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi before carrying out the mass shooting with her husband.”  This was followed by a confirmation by Associated Press on December 4 in an interview with a Facebook executive, who stated that  terrorist Tashfeen Malik posted support to ISIS on Facebook, during the San Bernardino terrorist attack.  This commitment to ISIS by terrorist Tashfeen Malik to ISIS was also in interviews with FBI officials by the New York Times and by Reuters.

On December 5, 2015, the official ISIS terrorist group Al-Bayan”radio station” took credit for their San Bernardino terrorist attack as an act of “supporters” of ISIS, as reported by CNN, CBS,  and other news media.

As Rita Katz of SITE Intelligence also reported on December 4, 2015, ISIS “official” social media accounts were full of celebrations over the San Bernardino terrorist attack, “posting images, threats, and warning against the US.”

ISIS-San_Bernardino-002

As R.E.A.L first reported on Twitter and Facebook on December 4, 2015, the ISIS affiliated “Amaq News Agency” claimed  that the San Bernardino terrorist attack was performed by supporters of ISIS.  The Amaq News agency claimed (rough translation from Arabic): “The depths of the agency: attacked two supporters of the Islamic state in the center of the city of San Bernardino in California. And fired weapons inside the center, causing the death of 14 people and wounded 17 others, and then fled, before they were killed later after an exchange of fire with US police who chased them for several hours. The strikers are a couple of Pakistani origin, with the attack comes after days of statements by US officials that the United States is far from “terrorist attacks.” The operation comes after Paris bloody attacks carried out by fighters of State on 13 November last year, which claimed the lives of dozens, and after a martyrdom operation on the presidential security amid the Tunisian capital.”

By the end of the day on December 4, 2015, the FBI announced that it was investigating the San Bernardino killings as a “terrorist” attack, leading a federal terrorism investigation.

Given the rapid report on the December 2, 2015 San Bernardino, California terrorist attack, Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L) has provided most of our reports on Twitter.

There are additional reports being circulated today also regarding links to an extremist cleric in Pakistan.  As more reports are confirmed, R.E.A.L. will update this report.

It is vitally important for Americans to note that ISIS terrorist group is not Islam, as they claim.  As documented by R.E.A.L., this can be seen by the Muslims in American and around the world who publicly reject the ideology and the actions of the ISIS terrorist group.

Muslim-Voices-Against-ISIS-1024x512

As documented by R.E.A.L, it can also been seen in the ISIS terrorist group history of mass murder against Muslims around the world, blowing up mosques, killing Muslim children, women, and men of all ages and in nations around the world.  The ISIS terrorist war on Muslims clearly demonstrates how they do not represent other Muslims.

ISIS-War-on-Muslims

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) stands in support of our universal human rights for all, and we stand in defiance against those, including terrorist and hate groups, which seek to attack such universal human rights, dignity, and security for all.

The Muslim Faces and Voices Against ISIS – in USA, Paris, and Around the World

While we have had many faces and voices against ISIS, the most important and compelling voices of those against extremism are Muslims who have, around the world, faced death from the ISIS terrorists who claim they are representing a twisted version of “Islam.”  It is essential that we encourage those supporting human rights and rejecting extremist views.

Muslims, in America, France, Other Parts of the World, Are Taking a Public Stand Against ISIS

After the November 13, 2015 ISIS terrorist attacks, we saw Muslims in France, Italy, and other parts of Europe stand up in rejection and defiance of the ISIS hate and terrorism, including taking part in public protests against ISIS and in support of those attacked in Paris.  Muslims across France and Europe marched against ISIS.  Since the November 13 Paris attacks, a global campaign has extended on Twitter with Muslims taking a stand against ISIS promoting the campaign #NotInMyName.

There have been active, but rarely publicized Muslim groups in the USA which challenge extremist views.  This has included groups which R.E.A.L. has joined with in promoting human rights, such as the Muslims for Progressive Values, and the Muslimah Writer’s Alliance (MWA), with whom we have stood together in support of shared universal human rights.

On the day of the December 2, 2015 terrorist attack in San Bernardino, Muslims came forward to reject and denounce violence.  In the aftermath of the San Bernardino terrorist attack, we also see Muslims who have spoken out and rejected the terrorist violence against those victims.

On December 3, 2015, the American Muslim Institution, based in Washington DC, issued a statement that the “Loss of life in San Bernardino is unequivocally condemned by Muslims.”  The statement included “Our hearts go out to the families of the victims and their loved ones, 14 people have lost their lives to senseless violence and another 17 are seriously injured. We pray with our hearts, souls and minds, asking God to guide us all to restore peace and sanity. American Muslims condemns this violent crime and urge the law enforcement agencies to track down all possible links to these violent acts, if any. It is time for the law enforcement officials to investigate the backgrounds of the suspected individuals to understand the sources and causes for their vigilant and criminal behavior, as it is a serious breach of security and to take corrective measures. As fellow Americans and fellow Muslims, it is our duty and collective responsibility to keep law and order and faithfully guard the safety of every citizen. Hate is one of the many sources of disrupting the peace in a society and it is the duty of all of us to track down the source of such hate and work on mitigating it.”

On November 20 2015, in Washington DC, Muslims gathered at the Lincoln Memorial to make a statement that they reject the violence, hatred, intolerance, and terrorism of violence.  This was also organized by the American Muslim Institution.  As reported by News and Views, the Muslim activists made statements condemning ISIS as “evil” and not representing Islam, reporting that “American Muslims gathered on the steps of Lincoln Memorial Friday to condemn the ISIS terror, and reinforce Islam’s message of peaceful coexistence.”  “In their speeches and slogans, participants said the ISIS hateful ideology of violence does not represent Islam since it goes against Islam’s message of peaceful coexistence and respect for human life.”  Mike Ghous, executive director of American Muslim Institution, stated “We are taking a small step to condemn them, to send a message to ISIS and terrorists that we do not approve them. We do not accept them because they are evil.”

In addition, also on November 20, 2015, about 100 people gathered in Lafayette Square in Washington DC, across the street from the White House, with candles, American flags and banners that read “Muslims Condemn Terrorism,” and “American Muslims Against ISIS.”

In addition, R.E.A.L.’s December 3, 2015 posting, we pointed to numerous Muslim women who rejected extremism in the Al Huda groups.  There is a continuing, but rarely publicized, movement by Muslim women and men to challenge rigidity and extremist views.

R.E.A.L. urges continuing public statements and specific rejection of ISIS, its ideology, and its terrorist tactics by Muslim activists, as well as non-Muslim activists.

As many have said, we are all in this together.

=====================

However, what many in the West are not as well aware of is how much the ISIS terrorist organization has targeted and attacked Muslims, Muslim activities, and Muslim mosques.  As we have reported elsewhere, ISIS has waged a global war against Muslims.

As we have reported numerous times, Muslim around the world have condemned the attacks by the ISIS terrorist group which has frequently targeted Muslim groups globally.  The frequency of such ISIS terrorist attacks against other Muslims is so common and so regular, we don’t begin to suggest we are covering them all, and frequently are forced to posting on Twitter of such regular attacks by ISIS on other Muslims.

But among those we have posted about, R.E.A.L. has reported of  ISIS terrorist attacks against Muslims on:

Clearly, the ideology of ISIS terrorism is primarily as an enemy to the Muslim people. It makes sense that Muslims can and must continue to be the number one face of opposition to ISIS.

It is the primary responsibility of white Americans to fight and defy the hate and terrorist ideology of white supremacy (which over 100,000 U.S.A. soldiers died in fighting  a war over), and we see white Americans in protests in our nation’s capital and around the nation to challenge white supremacists.    Just as it would be wrong to judge all white Americans for the actions of white supremacists, including the vast majority which have fought and many given their lives to challenge white supremacist hate and terrorism, so we must respect those Muslims who reject, defy, and denounce the ISIS hate and terrorism.

We urge all, from all identity groups, and all religions, to be jointly Responsible for Equality And Liberty.
