The terrorist group ISIS has reportedly targeted a government employee with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a division of the U.S. Department of Commerce, in the Washington D.C. suburb of Gaithersburg, Maryland, according to an NBC News report.
NBC News 4 reports: “News4 has obtained federal law enforcement records showing the FBI investigated the case and warned the employee of the threat. Security was increased for the worker and no known connection to ISIS was revealed, according to police reports. The employee was advised to notify internal agency police about her ‘arrivals and departures from (the) NIST campus,’ according to law enforcement records.”
NBC News 4 states: “The NIST campus is heavily secured, with police checkpoints guarding entrances. Tall fences and video surveillance surround the perimeter. Public access is restricted.
Multiple purported ISIS hit lists have surfaced online in recent months, one of which included more than 1,400 names. In another instance, members of the military were named. ‘We have followed FBI protocols in addressing this situation and have shared the relevant and important security information with all parties involved,’ a NIST spokeswoman said. ‘As always, the safety and protection of our employees are essential to NIST and the Department of Commerce.’ The police reports reviewed by News4 specify the NIST employee has no ties to ISIS.”
The Washington D.C. area has been regularly threatened by the ISIS terrorist organization.
On behalf of the people of Washington D.C. and its suburbs, Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) states to the ISIS terrorist organization that we are not afraid.
Washington D.C. was once burned down by British tyrants, and it was attacked by Al Qaeda terrorists. Washington D.C. was the target of nuclear annihilation by the tyrants of the Communist U.S.S.R. Washington D.C. has been the target of lunatics, extremists, and criminals for centuries. We do not expect this to change. Whatever comes its way, the capital and people of the United States of America will persevere and defeat all foes that seek it harm.

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) has learned that the anti-human rights ISIS terrorist organization has made recent claims in updates to their manifesto that they seek to expand their extremist caliphate (“khilafah”) beyond the Syria and Iraq areas. This update to the ISIS manifesto has been followed by a new report which has shown ISIS’s active terrorist activity in 18 countries, with at least 50 terrorist attacks that have affected 2800 people ( killing 1,100 people and injuring more than 1,700 people.)
As R.E.A.L. has previously reported, ISIS terrorist activity has appeared in multiple countries.
Specifically in the ISIS manifesto, in “Chapter 9: Final Chapter – Be prepared for a Global War which will hit every member of this Ummah (Muslim Nation),” the ISIS manifesto indicates: “The Islamic State would now expand beyond Iraq and Syria. It would now expand into [countries from East to West:] the Phillipines, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Palestine, Egypt (Sinai), Libya, Somalia, Nigeria, Tunisia, Algeria, Bosnia, and would gain many supporters from across Europe and America and Canada. Every country I have mentioned here has had some members or supporters release videos on the internet showing their support/allegiance for the Islamic State. The Caliphate now was not restricted to Syria and Iraq only, but it was now around the world.”
In the manifesto, the ISIS members believe: “You will attack Arabia and Allah will enable you to conquer it, then you would attack Persia (Iran) and He would make you to conquer it. Then you would attack Rome and Allah will enable you to conquer it, then you would attack the Dajjal and Allah will enable you to conquer him.”
On December 15, 2015, CNN reported “ISIS goes global: Mapping 50 attacks in 18 countries that killed 1,100 people.” In the report, CNN stated “ISIS has morphed from a scourge affecting Iraq and Syria to a threat to people around the world. Since declaring its caliphate in June 2014, the self-proclaimed Islamic State has conducted or inspired at least 50 terrorist attacks in 18 countries that have killed 1,100 people and injured more than 1,700 others.” CNN reported that: “The deadly tentacles of ISIS have spread quickly, from the terrorist group’s epicenter in parts of Iraq and Syria to points around the globe.”

Multiple reports of bombs in the African country of Kenya have indicated a threat to the human rights and security of the public. This includes reports of an attempted terrorist bombing at the Kutus Catholic Christian Church in Kirinyaga, as well as a suspicious device which looked like bomb on Air France Flight 463 (AF463) at Moi International Airport in Mombasa, Kenya. In both cases, there have been no reported injuries. Flight AF463 was headed to Charles DeGaulle airport in Paris with 459 passengers. It had departed from the island nation of Mauritius.
At the Kutus Catholic Church, the police successfully detonated a bomb outside of the church after it was found by worshipers during Sunday Christian worship services. Richard Kanyuiro and two other Christian worshipers discovered the bomb during services, while they were giving their Sunday offering, and at first they thought it was a toy. Then, they called the police who discovered it was, in fact, a bomb in the Catholic church. After the police recognized the device as a bomb, the Kutus Catholic Church in Kirinyaga County was evacuated during Sunday worship service. The Kenya news service The Nation reported that: “Area chairman of Catholic Men Association, Mr Paul Njeru, said it was likely that the bomb was planted very early in the morning by unknown terrorists. ” Mr. Njeru told The Nation that “Usually the church is opened at 7am so that those want to pray before the service starts can do so. Therefore it is likely the terrorists sneaked into the church posing as worshippers and planted the bomb.” “The local priest Father Njenga said it was by the grace of God that the bomb did not explode as the service was going on.”
Air France Flight 463 with 473 passengers and crew made an emergency landing due to finding a suspicious package in a toilet. The Kenyan Airport Authorities stated that “Kenya Security foiled a bombing attempt on Air France,” and that “bomb experts discovered a bomb inside Air France [plane] at Moi International Airport,” and that “the explosive was carried away to a safe place outside the airport.”
UPDATE: CBS reported that: “The CEO of Air France said hours after the plane had been grounded that the device discovered in the bathroom was a fake bomb.” “Frederic Gagey, the head of the airline, said the device was made of cardboard, paper and a household timer, and had been found in a little cupboard that is behind a mirror.”

“A plane of Air France made an emergency landing in the night from Saturday 19 to Sunday, December 20 following the discovery of a suspicious package on board. Flight AF 463, with 459 people on board and 14 crew members, left Mauritius at 21 am local time, and was to arrive at the airport of Roissy-Charles de Gaulle to 5 h 50. It landed at the airport international Mombasa, on the coast of Kenya, at 00 h 37 local time. “He requested an emergency landing after a suspected device to be a bomb was discovered in the toilet. An emergency landing was made, he safely landed and passengers were evacuated, “said Charles Owino, a spokesman of the Police Kenyan.” Experts in explosives Navy and Department of Investigations criminal police were called, took this device and dismounted to see if it contained explosives, “he added. The Kenyan Minister of Interior, Joseph Nkaissery, who immediately went to Mombasa, said late morning that police questioned several passengers of the flight without power in specifying the exact number six according to news agency Associated Press (AP). Mr Nkaissery declined to comment on the nature of the craft in question. “It’s an international affair and we are also talking to the island of Mauritius authorities to find out if there was a search of passengers before they board, “added the minister, who then visited the travelers to a hotel which has been made available. Contacted, Air France said that at this stage “we do not yet know the nature of the object” found on board. “The Kenyan authorities continued their investigation and we remain in contact with them,” said a spokesman. “A Accommodation is provided” for the evacuated passengers and “Air France makes every effort to ensure diversion of its customers and plans to send a unit to Mombasa to ensure their return to Paris. The departure of the flight Paris-Mombasa is expected later in the day, Sunday, December 20, “said the airline. The group “regrets the inconvenience and delay caused to its customers,” but assures that he had “other priorities than ensuring the safety of its passengers.” “
At the time of this posting, there has been no specific terrorist organization or individuals which have taken credit for these failed attempts. Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) will update this is significant new information is learned.

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) has learned from news media and counterterrorist research organizations have reported a grenade attack reportedly by the ISIS so-called “Khorasan Province” (IS-KP) branch, based in the Afghanistan eastern Nangarhar province, on minority Shiite Muslims in a mosque in Johar Town, Pakistan. Two have been injured in the terrorist grenade attack.
The terrorist grenade attack on Shiite Muslims was initially described by News Tribe as an attack on “the imambargah Idara Minhaj ul Hussain” in “in Johar Town Phase 2.” The report continued to state “[a]ccording to police, unknown persons riding a motorcycle lobbed a hand grenade at the imambargah and sped away. Two people, who suffered wounds, were shifted to a nearby hospital.”
The SITE Intelligence Group reported on December 19, 2015, that the ISIS IS-KP ground claimed credit for the Pakistan terrorist grenade attack on Shiite Muslims in Pakistan. SITE reported: “Khorasan Province of #ISIS claimed the grenade attack on a Shi’ite religious hall in Johar Town #Lahore #Pakistan, injuring two policemen.”
This appears to be part of a continuing trend of terrorism in both Afghanistan and Pakistan by the ISIS so-called “Khorasan Province” (IS-KP) branch.
The ISIS so-called “Khorasan Province” (IS-KP) branch, based out of Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province, has been expanding. In March 2015, the Long War Journal published a map of nearly 20 ISIS IS-KP branches in Afghanistan.

The U.S. Department of Defense recently reported about this new ISIS so-called “Khorasan Province” (IS-KP) group gaining influence in Afghanistan, as R.E.A.L. has previously reported.
Nangarhar Province, with a capital of Jalalabad, on the eastern border of Afghanistan with Pakistan
This new report of the Johar Town attack would indicate that IS-KP is continuing to extend its terrorist activities across the border of Afghanistan into Pakistan.
On December 5, 2015, another ISIS IS-KP terrorist grenade attack was reported in Punjab. On December 5, the SITE Intelligence Group reported that this same ISIS IS-KP group claimed credit for a grenade attack on the Sargohda offices of Express News, which is in the Pakistan Punjab province.
On November 7, 2015, a reported public beheading of seven Hazara ethnic Shiites in Afghanistan was reportedly attributed to ISIS. Hazara.net reported “There are seven Hazara victims —including a 13 year old boy, two women and 9 year old girl— all from the village of Damarda, Jaghori district of Ghazni province. According to interview by victim’s father (9 year old Shukria), the abductees were captive for 27 days before they were ‘beheaded’.” Some Hazara Shiites are uncertain whether the responsibility for this crime is exclusively ISIS or ISIS and Taliban.

On October 9, 2015, another ISIS IS-KP terrorist attack targeted a Shiite religious hall in Kabul, Afghanistan. SITE Intelligence reported that this same IS-KP group attacked a Shiite religious hall in Kabul. The SITE Intelligence Group is providing subscription level reporting on ISIS IS-KP attacks.
In April 2015, the Associated Press reported that: “Mohammad Mohaqiq said two former Taliban leaders, who switched allegiance to the rival ISIS group, were responsible for the abduction of 31 members of the minority Shiite Hazara community on Feb. 24 in southern Zabul province.”

An American man in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, has been arrested for providing conspiring and attempting to provide material support to the ISIS terrorist organization.
Jalil Ibn Ameer Aziz Arrested for Supporting ISIS Terror Group
As reported in the complaint filed in Middle District of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia for this case (I:15-MJ-81), Jalil Ibn Ameer Aziz used Twitter to and other social media to promote attacks on the United States of America, including calls for the assassination of President Barack Obama, specifically for his beheading. According to the complaint, Jalil Ibn Ameer Aziz also promoted slavery of women, and stated that he was interested in buying a teenage Yazidi woman slave. The complaint states that Jalil Ibn Ameer Aziz pledged allegiance to the ISIS terrorist organization and to Abu bakr Al Baghdadi. It states that Jalil Ibn Ameer Azi sought to promote violent attacks on the United States, and circulated a list of the names of addresses of U.S. military to urge attacks on them and their homes. The complaint states that he called for the killing of Non-Muslims with a regular chant “KillAllKufar.” In addition, the complaint states that he tried to make travel arrangements for individuals to travel to ISIS controlled territories.
Jalil Ibn Ameer Aziz had 57 different Twitter accounts which he used to promote ISIS terrorist ideology and promote violence. He also had what the authorities describe as a “tactical-style backpack” including “five M4-style high-capacity magazines loaded with 5.56 ammunition, a modified kitchen knife with the handle removed and wrapped in cloth or string, a thumb drive, a tin filled with various over-the-counter-medications, and a head wrap commonly referred to as a balaclava.” He wrote “Pennsylvania have very light gun laws its very easy to arm yourself.”
American ISIS – Pennsylvania Man Jalil Ibn Ameer Aziz Arrested for ISIS Terror Group Support, Called for Terrorist Attacks on USA and President
Penn Live also reported that Jalil Ibn Ameer Aziz appeared in court on December 18, 2015: “A soft-spoken man, Aziz, who wore a gray long-sleeved T-shirt and gray sweat pants and sandals, accepted the counsel of assistant federal public defenders, Lori Ulrich and Heidi Freese during the proceeding. Carlson read the charges Aziz is facing to him. Aziz answered the judge in mostly ‘yes’ and ‘no’ statements during the hearing that lasted about 15 minutes. Carslson told Aziz he could face up to 15 years in prison and fines of up to $250,000, followed by three years of supervised release, if found guilty of the charges the U.S. Attorney’s Office lodged against him.”
The complaint provides statements by Jeffrey D. Gruppo, a Special Agent with the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (“PFPA”) assigned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (“FBI”) Joint Terrorism Task Force (“JTTF”) as Task Force Officer (“TFO”) , including the following statements:
“8. An investigation by the JTTF has revealed that AZIZ espouses violent
jihadist beliefs and is a fervent supporter of a foreign terrorist organization known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (“ISIL”). AZIZ uses social media to spread ISIL propaganda and to seek support for the terrorist group from individuals over the internet. AZIZ’s social media activity supports ISIL by radicalizing and recruiting others. AZIZ has conspired with others and attempted to facilitate the travel of other ISIL supporters to Syria so that they can become ISIL fighters. Furthermore, your affiant believes that AZIZ may be preparing to conduct or assist others in conducting an attack in the United States based on the discovery of a backpack containing numerous high-capacity weapons magazines, ammunition, a knife, and other survival items during a November 27, 2015 physical search of AZIZ’s residence. ”
“13. AZIZ has created and used at least 57 different Twitter accounts. It appears that Twitter routinely suspends AZIZ’s accounts due to the radical nature of his postings, which violate Twitter’s policies. AZIZ then responds by creating backup accounts or opening a new Twitter account with slightly different
variations of common user names that he uses. AZIZ frequently uses a variation of “Colonel Shami” as either his username, vanity name, or to refer to himself. AZIZ also commonly re-establishes contact with common associates of his on Twitter.”
“15. AZIZ commonly uses his Twitter accounts to spread pro-ISIL propaganda, including news from ISIL sources as well as execution photos and videos. Open sources revealed that AZIZ has also used his Twitter accounts to directly and indirectly advocate for violence, encourage individuals to provide monetary support for jihad, express his desire to make pilgrimage to ISIL- controlled territory, provide advice about how to travel inconspicuously, and facilitate others’ travel to fight for ISIL.”
“16. AZIZ has used Twitter to pledge allegiance to ISIL and its leader, al
Baghdadi. On or about June 29, 2014, AZIZ, using the Twitter account @AnsarUmmah, posted “My bayah to sheikh Abu bakr Al Baghdadi.” [In this context the term “bayah” translates to allegiance].”
“17. AZIZ has used Twitter to advocate for violence. On or about January 8, 2015, AZIZ, using account @Ansara1Ummah8, tweeted “#KillAllKufar #KillAllKufar #KillAllKufar #KillAllKufar #KillAllKufar #KillAllKufar #KillAllKufar #Kill All Kufar.” [The term “kufar” translates to “infidels” and I believe is synonymous with “non-believers” in this context].” (R.E.A.L. notes there are others still promoting this on Twitter.)
“18. On or about January 29,2015, AZIZ, using Twitter account @Colonel_Shami, D tweeted “#IS “Know O Obama, that we are coming to America and know that we will sever your head in the White House” “.” This post also included a picture of a masked militant about to behead an unknown soldier. The affiant believes that AZIZ was sharing ISIL messages and propaganda regarding threats against the United States.”
“19. On or about February 2015, AZIZ, using Twitter account @Ansara1Ummah13, posted or re-posted numerous Tweets, some of which advocated for violence in the United States. The Tweets appear to have been made in response to the shooting of three Muslim individuals in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on or about February 10, 2015. The Tweets are as follows:
a. On or about February 11, 2015, AZIZ retweeted from @abubritani3, “#usa will pay for #ChapelHillShooting we will make sure you don’t live in peace,”
b. Also on February 11, 2015 AZIZ tweeted “This martyrdom will be a spark that will awaken sleeping lions in America, let their blood watered the seeds of jihad.#ChapelHillShooting,” and “Dear moderates. Give up a life of
humiliation-kissing the boot of the kufaar oppressors for a life of liberation in #IS #ChappelHillMartyrs.”
“20. On or about April 16, 2015, AZIZ, using Twitter account @Ansara1Ummah2Bl tweeted “Perform your Islamic duty. Support the Jihad with your wealth. Surah Baqarah (2:195) RT & SHARE DM for more info.” Your affiant believes that AZIZ is encouraging others to provide funding to jihadi groups, most likely ISIL. Your affiant further believes that by asking potential funders to “DM,” AZIZ is encouraging funders to message him directly using Twitter. Twitter’s direct messaging function is private and messages sent using this function are only viewable to the participants in the conversation.”
“21. Law enforcement has confirmed that on or about March 21,2015, AZIZ, using Twitter account @Baqiyaah201S posted to Twitter account @_Qariban_ talking about how to covertly travel to the Islamic State and mask the intention of the travel. Using Twitter account @Baqiyaah201S, AZIZ tweeted the following, “Hmmm so if I want make hijrah to Islamic State just act like person who going there to do Civilians jobs?”. AZIZ then continued “…May Allah make our hijrah easy inshallah. Maybe one can go there as university student to study in Mosul University.”
“22. On or about March 21, 2015, AZIZ, using Twitter account @Baqiyaah201S, tweeted “Pennsylvania have very light gun laws its very easy to arm yourself.”
“23. On or about May 2, 2015, AZIZ, using Twitter account @Ansara1Ummah49, tweeted “”When can be like him?? [emoji] Pray for me to be with my bros and get a VISA to Jannathul firdouse.[emoji] Jazakallah khair ….” [The term “VISA to Jannathul firdouse” translates to “a visa to paradise (or heaven)”]. Your affiant believes that AZIZ is expressing his desire to gain entry to heaven by conducting jihad or becoming a martyr.”
“24. On the same day, AZIZ, using Twitter account @Ansara1Ummah49, and other Twitter users also discussed making “hijrah” [the term “hijrah” translates to “emigration,” but in some contexts, travel to land controlled by ISIL]. Twitter user @endoftdrms tweeted, “@Ansara1Ummah49 one day I will probably see colonel shami made hijrah.” AZIZ, using Twitter account @Ansara1Ummah49, responded “@endoftdrms [three smiling faces] inshallah akhi.” Based on the investigation, your affiant believes that “colonel shami” is an alias frequently used by AZIZ. Your affiant believes that AZIZ’s response suggests that he intends to travel to territory controlled by ISIL. On more than one occasion, AZIZ has declared his desire to travel to the “Islamic State.” Additionally, AZIZ has also expressed an interest in disguising the purpose of his travel, as discussed in paragraph 15.”
“25. On or about May 30, 2015, in response to a then upcoming Draw Mohammed event in Phoenix, Arizona, Twitter user @GhanimaHaqq [AZIZ] reposted from @NdangeredSpecie “I hope the brothers have nailbombs ready for those protesters. Kill them all.” ”
“26. On or about July 21, 2015, Twitter user @MuslimBruhO [AZIZ] carried on a Twitter conversation with other Twitter users about purchasing Yazidi women for slaves. For his part in the conversation, @MuslimBruhO [AZIZ] posted the following:
“@_I_I_I_I @Etimdz How much the yazidi women cost plus what’s there ages??”
“@Etimdz @_I_I_I_I I’m serious, I’m considering on buying one girl inshallah once I arrive in Islamic State loooool”
“@TheScimitar 107 @YesSirQadhi @Etimdz @_I_I_I_I I just want one girl 17yearsold”
“27. The affiant assesses that AZIZ was not only talking about purchasing a female slave, but also talked about traveling to the “Islamic State.” The reference to the “Islamic State” when used by ISIL supporters refers to the territory, mostly in Syria and Iraq, which is currently held by ISIL.”
“28. On or about July 24, 2015, @MuslimBruhO [AZIZ] posted a Tweet about desire to travel to the “Islamic State.” “@peace_seekerl @NdoSisi_ May Allah grant us a way to make hijrah to the Islamic State.” The affiant assesses that “hijrah” is a reference to traveling to an Islamic country, and in this instance AZIZ was again referring to the “Islamic State”, or ISIL territory.”
“29. Your affiant believes AZIZ is currently using Twitter accounts with a variation of”Islamic Analyst” in the name. On or about November 26, 2015, AZIZ, using @lslamicAnalyst5, tweeted, “Photo report [picture of a camera]: #IS sniper battalion in #Kirkuk .. #lslamicState #Iraq #ISIS Link: justpaste.it/p5yr pic.twitter.com/3je515n04q.” The links show multiple pictures of snipers in
various settings.”
“30. AZIZ has also used Twitter to spread ISIL propaganda that advocated for violence against United States military members. On or about March 21, 2015, AZIZ using Twitter account @Baqiyaah20 1s tweeted “Well, US military guys are f**cked IS hacker division just revealed 100 of their address photos n Intelloooool #Baqiyah.” On the same day, AZIZ also posted “Yep them US guys are pretty F**ked all right exuse my language …” This post also contained a photo of United States service members and their identifying information.”
“31. On or about March 21,2015, AZIZ using Twitter account @Baqiyaah201S tweeted “US Military Hacked by Islamic State Hackers […]100 Addresses of Military Personnel Leaked!\”.” This Twitter posting also included a hyperlink to the full document released by the “Islamic State Hacking Division.” The affiant has reviewed this release and affirms that it contains the names of 100 reported United States military members, their alleged addresses and other identifying information, and calls for violence against them.”
“32. AZIZ has been contacted by multiple individuals about traveling to the Islamic State. Your affiant believes this is due in large part to AZIZ’s efforts to promote himself in the on-line extremist community as someone who can facilitate travel on behalf of ISIL. AZIZ has also cultivated a reputation within this on-line extremist community as someone who has important travel facilitation contacts within ISIL. All travelers and travel facilitation contacts are identified as coconspirators. Unless otherwise noted, their identities are known to law enforcement.”
There are another 6 pages in the complaint of details about Jalil Ibn Ameer Aziz working to coordinate travel to ISIS controlled areas. There are five individuals referenced using pseudonyms to avoid alerting such ISIS terrorist supporters.
“40. On or about November 27, 2015, pursuant to a court-authorized search, law enforcement confirmed that there was a tactical-style backpack in AZIZ’s closet. A search of the backpack identified five M4-style high-capacity magazines loaded with 5.56 ammunition, a modified kitchen knife with the handle removed and wrapped in cloth or string, a thumb drive, a tin filled with various over-the-counter-medications, and a head wrap commonly referred to as a balaclava. The affiant believes this hood is a similar style worn by ISIL members to hide their identities.”
A Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, resident was arrested today on charges of conspiring and attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). Jalil Ibn Ameer Aziz, 19, a U.S. citizen, is charged in a two-count criminal complaint that was unsealed today in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania following his arrest. His initial appearance will be at 4:30 p.m. EST in Harrisburg.
The arrest was announced by Assistant Attorney General for National Security John P. Carlin, U.S. Attorney Peter J. Smith of the Middle District of Pennsylvania and Special Agent in Charge William F. Sweeney Jr. of the FBI’s Philadelphia Division.
“According to the allegations in the complaint, Jalil Ibn Ameer Aziz conspired to provide and attempted to provide material support to ISIL by propagating their hateful rhetoric on social media and aiding individuals in their pursuit of traveling overseas to join the designated foreign terrorist organization,” said Assistant Attorney General Carlin. “A prior physical search of Aziz’s residence also revealed a tactical-style backpack in his closet, which contained high-capacity weapons magazines, ammunition, a knife, and other survival items. The National Security Division’s highest priority is counterterrorism, and we will remain vigilant in our efforts to hold accountable any and all those who seek to provide material support to terrorists, and to disrupt potential attacks in the United States before they happen.”
“The charges in this case focus on Aziz’s efforts to assist persons seeking to travel to and fight for the Islamic State,” said U.S. Attorney Smith. “These charges are a testament to the perseverance and dedication of those who stand watch over our nation and a clear message that those who support terrorism—will face justice.”
“The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) will move with speed to detect and disrupt those who are involved in facilitation or operational planning in support of a terrorist organization. There is no difference between the two, and we will aggressively pursue every threat in order to protect our communities,” said Special Agent in Charge Sweeney. “In this instance, Aziz operated quietly on behalf of the Islamic State and facilitated others looking to do the same.” Sweeney extended his appreciation to the Harrisburg-based members of FBI Philadelphia’s JTTF, and he encouraged anyone with concerns about suspicious behavior to contact appropriate authorities.
According to the complaint, Aziz has used at least 57 different Twitter accounts to advocate violence against the United States and its citizens, to disseminate ISIL propaganda and espouse pro-ISIL views. Aziz is alleged to have posted a hyperlink containing the names, addresses and other identifying information of 100 reported members of the U.S. military and calls for violence against them. Additionally, on at least three occasions, Aziz also allegedly used his Twitter accounts and other electronic communication services to assist persons seeking to travel to and fight for ISIL. In one instance, Aziz allegedly acted as an intermediary between a person in Turkey and several well-known members of ISIL. According to the allegations in the complaint, Aziz passed location information, including maps and a telephone number, between these ISIL supporters.
A prior search of a backpack located in Aziz’s closet identified five loaded M4-style high-capacity magazines, a modified kitchen knife, a thumb drive, medication and a balaclava.
A criminal complaint is only a charge is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
If convicted, the defendants’ sentence will be determined by the court after reviewing factors unique to this case, including the defendant’s prior criminal record, if any, and the defendant’s role in the offense and the characteristics of the violation. In all cases, the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and in most cases it will be less than the maximum.
The case is being investigated by the FBI’s Philadelphia JTTF. This case is being prosecuted by Trial Attorneys Robert Sander and Adam L. Small of the National Security Division’s Counterterrorism Section and Assistant U.S. Attorney Daryl Bloom of the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
Also as shown on Twitter there are also extremists who are calling for his release:

On December 17, 2015, in the U.S. Central District Court in Riverside, California, in U.S. Government Complaint in Case Number 5:15MJ498, the FBI investigating agent in the arrest of Enrique Marquez, charged with “conspiring to provide material support to terrorists,” stated that Tashfeen Malik pledged allegiance to ISIS on Facebook.
On page 20, paragraph 50:
— “On December 2, 2015, at approximately 8:43-8:47 a.m., an individual subsequently identified as Malik searched social media for materials related to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (“ISIL”), also referred to as the Islamic State (“IS”), or the Islamic State of Iraq and al-sham (“ISIS”), or Daesh. ISIL, formerly known as Al-Qa’ida in Iraq (“AQI”), is United States Department of State designed foreign terrorist organization and has been so since December 2004.”

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) finds the contentious political discourse involved in an ongoing terrorist investigation to be counter-productive, and believe a focus on facts and on the human rights issues involved should be a priority for the citizens of the world. Let us never forget that victims of terrorist attacks also have human rights too. R.E.A.L. rejects the denial about the repeated and documented cases of extremist, such as those supporting ISIS and other various extremists, who seek to threaten the human rights, dignity, security, and lives of others. In the “battle of ideas,” we must consistently challenge those extremist groups and their followers, who seek to deny our Universal Human Rights.
In Germany, a man alleged to be suspected of links to ISIS has been released, according to German news media, due to lack of sufficient evidence.
The German BILD reported a man named “Laith Al Daham Deiri” (reported by the Wall Street Journal as “registered as Leeth Abdalhmeed,” or aka “Leith Abdul Hamid”) had been detained by German police authorities on accusations from Syria that he had previously been a part of the ISIS organization. He was detained at the Unna-Massen refugee shelter near Dortmund, Germany, questioned, and then released.
The German BILD (translated into English) stated that: “Syrian anti-ISIS activists had photos of the man put on the Internet – with these photos that got to German investigators, the terrorist suspects unmasked.” “According to the Syrian anti-ISIS activists is the battle name of the suspect ‘Laith Al Daham Deiri’. He comes from the East Syrian ISIS stronghold ez Zor and was there Deir among others responsible to hand over money to ISIS-fighters.”
Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) has determined that the photos were from an anti-ISIS group on Syria called “Deir ez-Zor Is Being Slaughtered Silent,” which had posted this warning on Facebook.

According to the Facebook posting, the reported anti-ISIS group stated (rough translation into English from Arabic) that “Laith Daham al-Dairi” official relations with the ” Daash ” in Deir ez-Zor region. That it had arrived a few days ago to Germany , which is at Camp Ona in Dotamond.” One of the photos show “Laith Al Daham Deiri” with his index finger in the air, with another man, which is the symbol extremists have been using to show solidarity with ISIS. Another photo appears to show the man with an automatic weapon of some kind. The Facebook site is owned by a group calling itself the “Navenda Ragihandine Media Center.” It reports on the efforts of Syrian Kurdish units, called Yekîneyên Parastina Gel (YPG) (Kurdish) or People’s Protection Units aka People’s Defense Units.
The Bild report (translated into English) stated that “The suspect came about a week ago with his sister and her husband (to an amputated leg who) in Unna on, had been unremarkable. Together, the family lived in a room – in the house where also the security and operational control of the DRC have their headquarters.”
The Bild report (translated into English) also stated that: “The 31-year-old had been released from police custody, said a spokesman for the Dortmund prosecutor. He denies being a member of the terrorist organization Islamic State. The authorities could not prove membership.”
The German SHZ media house reported that (translated into English): “A briefly detained refugee from Unna, suspected of terrorist links, is free again. The 31-year-old Syrian had been accused on a Arabic-language Web site to have worked for the terrorist militia IS. Thereupon he was arrested on Thursday, the same day but set free again. The truth of this assertion can not be verified, the Dortmund prosecutor said Henner Kruse on Friday. The 31-year-old has denied being a member of the IS. The authorities could not prove membership. ‘The suspicion is at best very vague,’ Kruse said. On such websites, many people would probably denounced. This is not uncommon. The Bundeskriminalamt is the page in question unknown. Well, among other things, the source of this page is to be determined. Kruse anticipates that the 31-year-old had returned to his family in a refugee camp. He had claimed to have come only 20 days ago to Germany.”
Previously, in the Wall Street Journal, journalist Mohammad Nour Alakraa and Andrea Thomas reported on a man, “registered as Leeth Abdalhmeed,” who has been detained by German police, and “suspect of links” to ISIS. “Leeth Abdalhmeed” was arrested the refugee shelter in Unna-Massen, Germany. The detained man was also reportedly known as “Leith Abdul Hamid,” referenced as a “midranking Islamic State official” who was involved in money transfer operations. Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty (RFERL) had also begun to cover this report.
This is the second case in Europe this week; days ago a similar case was reported in Austria.
German police on Thursday arrested a Syrian refugee suspected of links to Islamic State, a German prosecutor said, highlighting the potential security risks posed by Berlin’s open-door refugee policy.
The state prosecutor in the city of Dortmund, Sonja Frodermann, said a man who had registered as Leeth Abdalhmeed and was born in 1984 had been detained at the refugee shelter in Unna-Massen on Thursday afternoon on suspicion of having links to the Sunni terror organization.
The arrest will heighten concerns among opponents of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s open-door refugee policy that Islamist terrorists might be hiding among the roughly one million refugees who entered Germany this year, half of them coming from war-torn Syria.
At least two members of the terrorist cell that killed 130 people in a series of attacks in Paris on Nov. 13 are known to have entered Europe via Greece as refugees using fake Syrian passports.
This week, Austrian police arrested two people at a Salzburg refugee shelter they suspect of being involved in the Paris attacks.
“We mustn’t regard refugees with a general suspicion. But it’s also true that concerns aren’t unfounded that some potential threats might be among refugees,” said Wolfgang Bosbach, lawmaker with Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union party. “We must specifically emphasize the issue of [refugees’] valid identification to avert threats.”
For much of this year, overwhelmed German authorities stopped holding individual hearings for Syrians in a bid to speed up their asylum applications—a far cry from the exacting background checks conducted on Syrians who seek asylum in the U.S.
Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière said this month that asylum requests for Syrians would again be handled on a case-by-case basis rather than being granted by default to people who claim to be Syrian.
The German government didn’t reply to requests for comments on the arrest on Thursday.
Ms. Frodermann, the prosecutor, said German authorities were alerted by a Syrian national who had seen an article on a website connecting Mr. Abdalhmeed with Islamic State.
A Syrian opposition activist and two people contacted via the website where the report on Mr. Abdalhmeed first appeared said they knew Mr. Abdalhmeed as Leith Abdul Hamid, describing him as a midranking Islamic State official in the oil-rich province bordering Iraq since the militia became active there.
They said he ran a money-transfer operation for the terror group and was responsible for smuggling medicine and ammunition from Turkey.
They added that relatives of Mr. Abdalhmeed were also involved in Islamic State activities.
Those relatives couldn’t be contacted by the Journal.
One of the people approached by the Journal, Mohammad Alalaw, who said he was from Deir Ezzour in Syria but was now in Turkey, said Mr. Abdalhmeed was among the first Syrians who pledged loyalty to Islamic State even before the militia became the dominant force in the region.
He also said Mr. Abdalhmeed was a fighter with the Free Syrian Army until 2013, when he switched sides and pledged loyalty to the extremist group.
Ms. Frodermann said she had no information beyond what was on the website and that it remained to be seen whether the assertions were true.
Mr. Abdalhmeed arrived at the shelter in Unna-Massen on Dec. 2 and was registered first as Leeth Alrjab, said Bettina Jendrusz, deputy head of the Unna-Massen shelter, which is operated by the German Red Cross.
She said it wasn’t unusual for migrants to change their names in the course of registering with the authorities and applying for asylum, adding that Mr. Abdalhmeed had yet to give his fingerprints or undergo police checks with the local authorities.
Mr. Abdalhmeed stayed at the refugee center with four family members, Ms. Jendrusz said.
It wasn’t immediately clear which of his relatives had traveled with him to Germany. The prosecutor’s office said no other arrests were made on Thursday.

Enrique Marquez, friend of San Bernardino terrorist Syed Rizwan Farook, was arrested on Thursday, December 17, 2015. He acknowledged that he bought the two AR-15s automatic rifles for Syed Rizwan Farook, which Farook used in the December 2, 2015 terrorist attack in San Bernardino.
In addition, CNN reported on December 10 that: “He’s also told investigators about a 2012 attack plot that he says he and Farook conceived but did not carry out, U.S. officials told CNN. Marquez told investigators that part of the reason the two abandoned their plans was that around that time, they were spooked by unrelated FBI arrests of four people charged with attempting to travel abroad to carry out jihad.”
The Los Angeles Times reports:
Enrique Marquez, the friend of terrorist Syed Rizwan Farook, has been arrested on criminal charges in connection with the Dec. 2 massacre in San Bernardino, federal authorities said Thursday.
The 24-year-old Riverside resident once lived next door to Farook and purchased two of the semiautomatic rifles that Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, used in the attack that killed 14 people.
The arrest represents a major development in the widening investigation of the third foreign terror attack in the U.S. this year, and the deadliest since 2001.
Before the shooting, Marquez worked as a security guard at Wal-Mart and was known as a shy cycling enthusiast with dreams of joining the Navy. Recently he had been attempting to lose weight to prepare for the rigors of boot camp.
Marquez appeared to have been greatly influenced by Farook. While Farook was known for keeping to himself, he struck up a friendship with Marquez and the two were often seen tinkering on old cars together. Marquez converted to Islam, prayed at a local mosque and married a member of Farook’s extended family, a Russian emigre.
About four or five years ago, Marquez began attending prayers at the Islamic Society of Corona-Norco, according to Yousuf Bhaghani, president of the facility’s board of directors.
Bhaghani said Marquez was not a regular but stuck out because of his Latino background. He was remembered as “a decent guy who came to pray, nothing that could raise any flags.”
Marquez legally purchased the two firearms in 2011 and 2012, around the same time that Farook had allegedly plotted to carry out an earlier attack. Farook asked Marquez to purchase the weapons on his behalf because he did not want them traced to him and doubted he could pass a background check, the sources said.
FBI agents believe Farook scrapped the plan after three men were arrested in the Inland Empire for plotting to kill Americans in Afghanistan. There was no record of any transfer of the weapons from Marquez to Farook and Malik.
In New York State, an American ISIS recruit from Rochester, Mufid A. Elfgeeh, pleaded guilty to support for the ISIS terrorist on December 17, 2015. He pleaded guilty to two counts of trying to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. He could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison, but federal prosecutors said they will recommend 22½ years behind bars.
Mufid A. Elfgeeh was a recruit for ISIS, who pleaded guilty to providing material support to ISIS, but who (as the FBI also previously reported) had purchased multiple guns with silencers to kill American soldiers who had returned from Iraq.
The Buffalo News reports that “Elfgeeh’s admissions, part of a plea agreement approved in Rochester Federal Court, makes him the first Western New Yorker to plead guilty to a charge of recruiting for ISIS. Charged in September of last year, Elfgeeh was accused of trying to recruit three others to join the Islamic State of Syria and fight overseas. He also was charged with attempted murder for his alleged role in planning to kill former and current members of the U.S. military.”
American ISIS recruit Mufid A. Elfgeeh was arrested in June 2014, and was indicted in September 2014. He was initially charged with one count of attempted murder of current and former members of the United States military, one count of possessing firearms equipped with silencers in furtherance of a crime of violence, and two counts of receipt and possession of unregistered firearm silencers.
In September 2014, the U.S. Department of Justice reported on the indictment of Mufid Elfgeeh:
Attorney General Eric Holder, Assistant Attorney General for National Security John Carlin and U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. for the Western District of New York announced today that a federal grand jury in Rochester has returned a seven-count indictment charging Mufid A. Elfgeeh, 30, of Rochester, with three counts of attempting to provide material support and resources to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), aka the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization. In addition, Elfgeeh is also charged with one count of attempted murder of current and former members of the United States military, one count of possessing firearms equipped with silencers in furtherance of a crime of violence, and two counts of receipt and possession of unregistered firearm silencers.
“We will remain aggressive in identifying and disrupting those who seek to provide support to ISIL and other terrorist groups that are bent on inflicting harm upon Americans,” said Attorney General Holder. “As this case shows, our agents and prosecutors are using all the investigative tools at our disposal to break up these plots before individuals can put their plans into action. We are focused on breaking up these activities on the front end, before supporters of ISIL can make good on plans to travel to the region or recruit sympathizers to this cause.”
The material support charges each carry a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, the attempted murder charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, the firearms possession charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 30 years and a maximum of life in prison, and the firearm silencer charges each carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
According to court records, Elfgeeh attempted to provide material support to ISIS in the form of personnel, namely three individuals, two of whom were cooperating with the FBI. Elfgeeh attempted to assist all three individuals in traveling to Syria to join and fight on behalf of ISIS. Elfgeeh also plotted to shoot and kill members of the United States military who had returned from Iraq. As part of the plan to kill soldiers, Elfgeeh purchased two handguns equipped with firearm silencers and ammunition from a confidential source. The handguns were made inoperable by the FBI before the confidential source gave them to Elfgeeh.
According to court documents, in 2013 and into early 2014, Elfgeeh encouraged the two confidential sources (CS-1 and CS-2) to travel overseas to engage in violent jihad. After CS-1 and CS-2 agreed to travel to Syria to join ISIS, Elfgeeh took several steps to prepare them for the trip. Elfgeeh also sent $600 to an individual in Yemen for the purpose of assisting that individual in traveling from Yemen to Syria for the purpose of joining and fighting on behalf of ISIS.
Court documents also indicate that Elfgeeh first discussed the idea of shooting United States military members in December 2013 when he told CS-2 that he was thinking about getting a gun and ammunition, putting on a bulletproof vest, and “just go[ing] around and start shooting.” In February 2014, Elfgeeh told CS-2 that he needed a handgun and silencer. Elfgeeh later gave CS-2 $1,050 in cash to purchase two handguns equipped with silencers and ammunition. On May 31, 2014, CS-2 delivered the two handguns equipped with silencers and ammunition to Elfgeeh. After Elfgeeh took possession of the items, he was arrested by members of the Rochester Joint Terrorism Task Force. Elfgeeh is currently being held in custody.
At the Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, Turkish authorities have stopped ISIS supporters with 150 false passports.
AFP reports: “Turkish authorities detained two suspected Islamic State militants (IS) at Istanbul’s main international airport carrying at least 150 original European passports, an official said Thursday. Counter-terror police detained the suspects, a Syrian and a Turk, at Ataturk Airport after they flew in from a European country, finding they had stuffed the passports into pizza ovens, media reports said earlier. ‘Airport police… found at least 150 fake passports among their personal belongings,’ a Turkish government official, who asked not to be named, told AFP. The private Dogan news agency said the police seized a total of 148 European passports hidden inside ‘five mini-pizza ovens’. The suspects have been taken to the anti-terror headquarters of Istanbul police for questioning, it added. Two hidden cameras, scores of memory cards and SIM cards were also seized, it added. Dogan had said that the passports were all original.”
