Myanmar: Rohingya Muslims Persecuted, Killed, Flee

Reports continue to describe the ongoing persecution of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar (aka Burma).  We urge the public to call for an end to this persecution, violence, and oppression.

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) urges world leaders and people around the world stand in solidarity with the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar (Burma) as our brothers and sisters in humanity in defense of their Universal Human Rights for human rights, human dignity, freedom of conscience, safety, and security.

R.E.A.L. has issued an on-line petition calling for an end to violence in Myanmar, respect for the Universal Human Rights of all people living in Myanmar, and an end to the persecution and targeted violence against Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
— 1. We call for an end to the violence in Myanmar by ANY group – of any religion or ethnicity. There is no “justified” violence which targets any religion or ethnic group – Muslim or Buddhist.
— 2. Our brothers and sisters in humanity of any group, any religion, any ethnicity, all deserve consistent Universal Human Rights, including their human rights of dignity, safety, and freedom – without exception.
— 3.We call for an end to oppression against Rohingya Muslims by government security forces and ethnic majority groups against Rohingya Muslims, who have faced a series of targeted attacks against their identity group.
— 4. R.E.A.L. urges the world governments, the media, and the public to become aware of the persecution and violence against Rohingya Muslims in the northern Rakhine State (NRS) in Myanmar (Burma). The Rohingya Muslims live in desperate refugee camp type of conditions and they represent one of the largest groups of stateless people in Asia. We urge the world governments, the media, and the public, to call for an end to the persecution and violence against Rohingya Muslims by government security forces and ethnic majority groups.

According to official records obtained by the media, 77 Rohingya Muslims were killed in recent violence.

The United Nations indicates that there are 800,000 Rohingya Muslims without citizenship in Myanmar. Reports state that Rohingya Muslims represent a large percentage of the displaced individuals in Myanmar. Amnesty International states that between 50,000 and 90,000 Muslim Rakhine, and Muslim Rohingya have been displaced.

The latest series of violence began on June 3, 2012 after a mob killed 10 Muslims after reports of a local rape in the predominantly Buddhist Rakhine state. Violence followed with the burning of 500 homes and killings on June 9, leading to a state of emergency declared on June 10.

On July 20, 2012, the Associated Press reported that “communal violence is grinding on in western Myanmar six weeks after the government declared a state of emergency there, and Muslim Rohingyas are increasingly being hit with targeted attacks that have included killings, rape and physical abuse,” according to Amnesty International. AP also reported that “Amnesty International accused both security forces and ethnic Rakhine Buddhists of carrying out new attacks against Rohingyas, who are seen as foreigners by the ethnic majority and denied citizenship by the government because it considers them illegal settlers from neighboring Bangladesh.”

Amnesty International Myanmar researcher Benjamin Zawacki states that a series of unlawful arrests have been made after a state of emergency was declared on June 10.  Amnesty International states: “Many Rohingyas and other Rakhine Muslims reported cases of physical abuse, rape, destruction of property and unlawful killings carried out by both Rakhine Buddhists and security forces. Authorities in Myanmar must take action to stop these acts and prevent future abuses from occurring.”

Australia’s Kourosh Ziabari reports on the history of the oppression of Rohingya Muslims persecution dating back to 1942, and the efforts of Rohingya Muslims to seek to flee to Bangladesh and Malyasia, which have not “warmly” received such refugees. Kourosh Ziabari writes that “It’s said that as a result of dire living conditions and discriminatory treatment by the government, some 300,000 Rohingyas have so far immigrated to Bangladesh and 24,000 of them have also escaped to Malaysia in search of a better life. Many of them have also fled to Thailand, but neither Bangladesh nor Thailand has received them warmly. Bangladesh is negotiating with the Burmese government to return the Rohingyas and Thailand has sporadically rejected them. There have been instances where boats of Rohingyas reaching Thailand have been towed out to sea and allowed to sink, sparking international anger among Muslims and non-Muslims.”

The July 27, 2012 briefing by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) states that it has delivered aid to over 30,000 displaced people in Myanmar’s Rakhine state. The UNHCR report states that “An estimated 80,000 people are displaced in and around the towns of Sittwe and Maungdaw, according to UN and NGO assessments…. Some displaced Muslims tell UNHCR staff they would also like to go home to resume work, but fear for their safety. Movements are restricted in Sittwe, preventing IDPs and host families from earning a living as labourers, trishaw drivers and market sellers. Fishermen cannot reach the lagoon and the nearby waters are too rough for fishing. Some say they are running out of money and food. The sick now have to travel longer distances to access health care in the IDP camps. Pregnant women are also facing problems reaching hospitals.”

The Times of India reports that “the Rohingyas (Myanmar Muslims who mostly live in Arakarn region)… are considered by the UN as one of the most persecuted communities in the world.”

Human Rights Watch has also previously reported of Myanmar government efforts to require Rohingya Muslims to perform forced labor, and those who refuse are physically threatened and young children have been seen on forced labor teams.

The July 31, 2012 Times of India states that Rohingya Muslims are fleeing to Hyderabad. The Times of India reports “M Mandakini, field officer of United Nations High Commission for Refugees that is working in collaboration with the Cova in the city, said that many of them have taken shelter in Hafiz Babanagar and Kishanbagh where already a considerable number of Myanmar citizens reside.”

R.E.A.L. urges the the public to share the story of the Rohingya Muslims’ persecution with your fellow human beings, your government, and world organizations, to continue to pressure the government of Myanmar (Burma) and its people to urge them to share our Universal Human Rights of dignity, safety, and human freedom with Rohingya Muslims, and end their persecution.

Please share our online petition to raise a voice to Myanmar and its people on this issue.

Darfur: 7 Protesters Killed

AP reports: “Sudanese forces used gunfire and tear gas to break up an anti-government protest Tuesday in the southern Darfur city of Nyala, killing at least seven protesters, most of them students, a human rights lawyer said. They were the first reported deaths in demonstrations against recent austerity measures.”

India: Power Outage to 680 Million – Human Rights Group Urges World Support

On July 31, 2012, India’s power grid failed for a second time in two days leaving 680 million without power, affecting 21 states, as three power grids failed.  Reports state that 80 percent of those have had power restored by late Tuesday evening July 31, but hospitals, infrastructure, and transportation were all affected by the power outage sweeping across India.  The power outage also trapped 200 miners at one point.

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) urges the world powers to reach out to India to offer assistance to help them ensure that no humanitarian and medical crises develop in the nation.

Warner Bros Movie Planned to Depict Theater Mass Murders

As shown in this preview posted on YouTube, Warner Bros is planning the release of a movie called the “Gangster Squad,” which includes scenes of its characters committing mass murder in a crowded theater audience, using automatic weapons. In the Warner Bros film, the Warner Bros characters go to a theater audience with submachine guns and burst through the screen, shooting the audience to death.

The film has been been scheduled for release on September 7, 2012, but is being considered to have a delayed release, so that the public has time to “forget” about the mass murder massacre in an Aurora, Colorado theater on July 20, 2012 during the showing of the Warner Bros “The Dark Knight Rises” film.  R.E.A.L. has a petition urging the public to boycott Warner Bros’ ultra-violent films.

The accused murderer claimed that he was acting as “The Joker,” which was a mass murdering character from a previous Warner Bros “Dark Knight” film. Warner Bros is continuing to promote merchandise and “toys” to children to glamorize the mass murdering character from their film.

Reuters has reported that Warner Bros is pulling the preview of their ultra-violent “Gangster Squad” film from the theaters which shows the planned theater massacre in their film. This is likely viewed as a public relations tactic to avoid public scrutiny and outrage regarding their ultra-violent films and glamorization of such mass-murdering characters. They also have suggested they are reconsidering the scene of the mass murder of people in a theater.

But as Reuters reported, “Hollywood executives expect little fall-out from the mass killing at a Batman screening.” After the Aurora shooting, it continued to business as usual as Warner Bros executives promoted ultra-violent films and glamorization of mass-murdering characters through their films and merchandising.

“Gangster Squad,” this latest in Warner Bros’ ultra-violent films, was made in assocation with “Village Roadshow Pictures,” and is described as a “Lin Pictures / Kevin McCormick” production. The director of this latest in Warner Bros’ ultra violent films is Ruben Fleischer, with movie stars Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, and Emma Stone, and written by Will Beall.

Batman Movies Result in Murder – AGAIN – Killing Children

— In Warner Brothers’ Batman films, villains inspire murderers who seek to be an “agent of chaos” and murder children —

In Aurora, Colorado, a murderer went into a filming of the latest of Christopher Nolan’s dark-themed Batman films, “The Dark Knight Rises,” and threw canisters of gas into the audience and prWaroceeded to shoot members of the audience. The attack on the Aurora movie audience has resulted in 71 people shot with 12 deaths and 59 injured (as of news reports at time of posting.) The attack took place at the Century 16 movie theater, in in Theater 9, in Aurora. The reported victims have ranged from 3 months old babies to adults, with teenagers killed in the public rampage.

The Warner Brothers’ (Warner Bros) distributed, DC Comics-based film had numerous scenes of public rampage, mayhem, and terroristic violence, with terrorist attacks on a football stadium, a public attack on the stock market, and scenes of mob violence in the streets.  This has been the pattern of Christopher Nolan’s ultra-violent film approach to the Batman character, and it has also reflected a general trend in DC Comics over the past 5 to 10 years to promote increasing levels of violence and horror in the comics that they sell to our children.   DC Comics have previously published “Batman” comic books, including “The Dark Knight Returns” where a killer started shooting people in a crowded theater during a Batman-inspired film.

There needs to be a voice of restraint and sanity returned to Warner Bros and DC Comics as to the type of ultra-violent, terrorist-glamorizing film and media that is publishing, and an end to Warner Bros and DC Comics’  mass merchandising of mass murdering characters.

We urge the public to join us in contacting Warner Bros and DC Comics to seek an END to the glamorizing and mass merchandising of their characters that commit mass murder.   Please sign our online petition urging them to make these changes. We call for them to use the profits from their products sold thus far to help the victims of killers in Colorado and Belgium inspired by their films and merchandising.

Aurora, Colorado Murders: Unlike Warner Bros/Christopher Nolan's Dark Film, the Murders Inside Were Not Just a Fantasy

Child Murderers Inspired by Glamorization of Terrorist Violence

The most disturbing aspect of this latest murder is this is not the FIRST time these ultra-violent films inspired such murders of CHILDREN.

The accused murderer, James Eagan Holmes, told police that he was “The Joker,” he had dyed his hair red, and wore a gas mask and protective gear as he walked among the film audience, randomly shooting his victims.   With the film about a comic book character, parents who were not aware of the dark, grim approach that Warner Bros was treating this character, would have not questioned whether to let their children go to this film.  The audience that James Holmes shot at random was full of children.

Among the victims of Batman film murderer James Holmes included a 3 month old baby was injured and a 6 year old child who was killed.  The innocent child who was killed Veronica Moser-Sullivan, was a 6 year old girl with her entire life ahead of her.

A dozen people did not survive the public mass murder by James Holmes.

The Denver Post has provided an update with the list of names of the 12 victims:

Jon Blunk – 26, Navy veteran
AJ Boik – 18, Student
Jessica Ghawi – 24, Sports journalist
John Larimer – 27, U.S. Navy sailor
Matt McQuinn – 27, Worked at Target
Micayla Medek – 23, Subway Sandwich Artist
Veronica Moser-Sullivan – 6, Grade-schooler
Alex Sullivan – 27, Bartender
Alexander Teves – 24, Recently earned Master’s degree
Rebecca Wingo – 32, Worked at Joe’s Crab Shack
Gordon Cowden – 51, Outdoorsman and small business owner
Jesse Childress – 29, U.S. Air Force Reserve

The Wyoming Times press reported that witness Jennifer Seeger said that James Holmes fired continuously into the crowd, stopping only to reload, and she tried to escape saw a 14 year old girl “lying lifeless on the stairs.”  Witness Shayla Roeder also stated that she saw a teenage girl bleeding outside the theater, with “this horrible look in her eyes….and I could tell she was not all right.”  The press reported that “Aurora police Chief Dan Oates said the suspect wore a gas mask, a ballistic helmet and vest as well as leg, groin and throat protectors. He said he had an AR-15 military-style, semi-automatic rifle, a shotgun and two pistols.”

A group of friends are overcome with emotion as they gather outside Gateway High School, Friday July 20, 2012, in Aurora. They got news that their friend was killed during a shooting, where about 50 people were shot 12 fatally early Friday inside an Aurora movie theater during a premiere showing of the new Batman movie, were taken to the high school by bus to be questioned by police. RJ Sangosti, The Denver Post (RJ Sangosti, The Denver Post)

Among the killed were Jessica Ghawi, who was a 24-year-old sports writer who used the pen name Jessica Redfield.   She had previously survived another attack in a Toronto mall.   Members of American armed forces were also included in the attack, and a U.S. Navy sailor and a member of the U.S. Air Force were injured.

Just like the accused murderer James Holmes in the Aurora movie theater killing, another killer was inspired by the “Dark Knight” films to kill babies.

Batman Movie-Inspired Murderers: 2012 - James Eagan Holmes - Shot 71, Killed 12, Wounded 59 in Colorado Movie Theater, 2008 - Kim De Gelder - Attacked Belgian Day Care Center, Killed Two Babies, Adult - Injured 10 More Babies

In July 2008, after the first ultra-violent Warner Bros “Batman” film “The Dark Knight,” another “fan” dressed up as the perceived anti-hero “Joker” as his costume to commit murder.

In Belgium, 20 year old Kim De Gelder tricked his way into the Fabeltjesland day care center to murder and attack little children. He wore a bullet proof vest, and had a painted white face, eye shadow and ginger hair, to make himself look like Nolan’s “Joker” character. He drew a 12 inch knife and began attacking babies in the child care center, between a few months and two years old. He murdered two babies, nine-month-old Leon Garcia, six-month-old Corneel Vermeir, and he murdered one of the women watching the children, Marita Blindeman. All of the victims were stabbed in the head and the throat. Marita tried to call for help and she was murdered by the “Joker” killer as she was on the telephone calling for an ambulance. There were 10 other babies injured in the attack by the “Joker” killer, after the 2008 “Dark Knight” film. The murderer confessed to his crimes and laughed to the police, reportedly quoting one of the 2008 film’s characters when he was arrested.

Ultra-Violent Warner Bros Film Promotes Killers Who “Want to See the World Burn”

It is yet another of the films by British director filmmaker Christopher Nolan, who has been the lead behind the latest in his ultra-violent films about the DC Comic’s character “The Batman.” Christopher Nolan’s latest film “The Dark Knight Rises” comes four years after his last film “The Dark Knight” in July 2008.

In both of the very dark, disturbing, dytopian films by Christopher Nolan, there is glamorization of big-screen terrorism against the public by the Batman villains, with mass murders in public places. In Nolan’s 2008 film, the Joker character commits mass murders in a hospital of helpless people, among other public terrorist attacks.

Murderers Inspiration from WB/Nolan "Dark Knight" Films: The Joker Who Wants to See the World Burn

Nolan’s Joker character from the “Dark Knight” film remains an inspiration for murderers, after both films. In the 2008 film, the glamorized villain “The Joker” is a psychopathic nihilist that advocates anarchy, who stated “I am an agent of chaos,” and who wants to see “the world burn.”

In 2009, I noticed that “This stabbing, bombing, psychopathic character becomes the central character of the Warner Bros film, which was merely rated PG-13, and is virtually glamorized in the film and the subsequent mass-merchandising campaign.”

A day after the mass murder and terrorist attack in an Aurora, Colorado movie house, DC Comics, continues to sell and mass merchandise costumes, statues, and toys for OUR CHILDREN – that glamorize the mass-murdering Joker character from the “The Dark Knight” film.  DC Comics does this directly from their web site.

Warner Bros and DC Comics have been glamorizing and mass-merchandising this mass-murdering character from the “The Dark Knight” films for the past FOUR YEARS.

Warner Bros and DC Comics Went On to Make Millions for Merchandising of Costumes and Kits Glamorizing the Mass-Murdering Joker

WB/DC make millions of dollars by mass merchandising films and products glamorizing killers.  Their inspiration of terror and incitement of violence must come to an end.

But instead of pulling back, WB/DC are planning even MORE mass merchandising to GLAMORIZE mass murderers and terrorists.

On the WB/DC web site after the Aurora killings, DC is selling figurines and shirts to OUR CHILDREN – glamorizing “The Dark Knight Rises” film’s mass murderer and public terrorist figure “Bane,” and they sell the terrorist character as “ready for action.”

THIS is how “deeply saddened” WB and DC industry leaders are about the killings, which were inspired by mass murderers in their films and products.  They are so “deeply saddened” that they continue to promote mass murderers in their films and products every single day.

Warner Bros / DC Entertainment - Comics - is NOW mass merchandising figurines of terrorist character "Bane" in latest "Dark Knight Returns" film - that commits public terrorism, attacks Stock Exchange (Screenshot: DC Entertainment web page)
Warner Bros / DC Continues to Mass Merchandise Shirts, Toys, all GLAMORIZING the latest Mass-Murdering Terrorist Character "Bane" in "The Dark Knight Rises" - (Screen shot: DC Entertainment web page - July 21)

When you go to the local toy store, you would NOT expect to find TOYS and COSTUMES glamorizing mass-murderers such as Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin, Mao Tse-Tung, or terrorists such as Osama Bin Laden – but you will see Warner Bros and DC Comics promoting TOYS and COSTUMES of mass-murdering characters from their “Dark Knight” films.

DC Comics is continuing to do this RIGHT NOW, TODAY, in the immediate aftermath of a mass-murder terrorist attack inspired by one of the characters that the WB/DC films have glamorized and mass-merchandised as TOYS for CHILDREN.  This has to END.

We  must DEMAND that WB/DC stop its mass merchandising and profiteering from glamorizing of terrorism today.   We must also DEMAND that WB/DC provide all of the profits raised from such mass-murder mass merchandising to the victims of those killed and injured, by the killers inspired by these characters in Colorado and in Belgium.

Police Rush to Secure Theaters in New York City, Film Canceled in Paris

The film premiere of “The Dark Knight Rises” scheduled for Paris tonight has been cancelled. In New York City, the police have stated that they will increase security around theaters that show the film, concerned about “copy cat” killers.

Warner Bros and DC Comics Growing Culture of Violence

Over the past 5 to 10 years, DC Comics has had increasing levels of violence and horror in the comics that they sell to our children, and now in the films that they and Warner Bros studios distribute to the public, including the ultra-violent “Dark Knight” Batman films by Christopher Nolan.   The Dark Knight films have glamorized scenes of mass murderers killing hundreds of helpless people in hospitals, committing public terrorist attacks and rampage, and then mass merchandising shirts and products to glamorize such mass murdering characters.  Warner Bros and DC Comics must be responsible and accountable for their continuing actions.

DC Comics is not what mothers and fathers remember from their youth. Elements within DC Comics and Warner Bros have been promoting a growing trend ultra-violent public story lines and terrorist violence.  In addition to the public terrorist attacks glamorized in the Christopher Nolan “Dark Knight” Batman films, DC Comics published a comic “The Dark Knight Returns,” where a gunman stood up in the middle of a Batman-inspired movie and opened fire inside the crowded theater.

Warner Bros’ culture of ultra-violent films has included a trailer for the September film Gangster Squad because of a scene in which gangster characters tear through a theater screen and shoot randomly in a crowded theater.   After the murders in the Aurora, Colorado movie theater during the Warner Bros’ “Dark Knight Rises” film, the company has decided to pull the trailer from that film.  There is no word on whether Warner Bros will continue to distribute such ultra-violent films.

WB Web Site Screen Shot for CEO Barry Meyer: Despite his "sympathies," even a full day after the mass-murder terrorist attack on an Aurora movie theater during the Dark Knight Rises WB/DC film, WB CEO shows his picture next to a film character that attacked the Stock Exchange and committed other public acts of terrorism

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) urges the public to BOYCOTT Warner Bros’ Dark Knight and its other ultra-violent films, so that its company understands the financial price of promoting films that glamorize violence to such a degree that it encourages and incites others to commit violence – as we have seen on REPEATED ATTACKS ON OUR CHILDREN.

Speak Out to Warner Bros, DC Comics, and Christopher Nolan – Call for End to Glamorizing Mass Murderers

We will be updating this posting in the near future with an online petition to Time/Warner’s Chairman of the Board and CEO Jeffrey L. Bewkes, calling for him to take a responsible stand toward these ultra-violent films that his company makes and distributes.

Our Petition Calling for Change at Warner Bros and DC Comics

Please sign our petition urging Warner Bros and DC Comics to STOP this glamorization of mass murderers and violence to our children.

Warner Bros, DC Comics, Time/Warner CEO Jeffrey L. Bewkes, WB CEO Barry M. Meyer, WB Pictures Group’s Jeff Robinov, DC Comics President Diane Nelson, DC Comics Dan DiDio, DC Comics Jim Lee, and Filmmaker Christopher Nolan –

Concerned People of the World call upon Warner Bros and DC Comics to end its business patterns of creating, marketing, and distributing ultra-violent films, media, and products. These media and products glamorize characters that commit public mass-murder, terrorism, and mayhem.

Warner Bros and DC Comics make millions of dollars by mass merchandising films, media, and products glamorizing killers. Their inspiration of terror and incitement of violence must come to an end. These companies must use the blood money from such sales to aid the victims of criminals inspired by their glamorizing of mass murders – both in the United States and around the world

We have seen how these sick and twisted visions have inspired murders in Colorado and in Belgium, who have been responsible for killing helpless children. We have also seen how such twisted visions have infected the minds of young people around the world.

This has become a pattern with these businesses for some time. Warner Bros and DC Comics have been making and promoting films, books, and products that glamorize mass murderers. This is against all human dignity and the safety of our children and our fellow human beings, which are universal human rights.

Warner Bros and DC Comics have promoted characters in films that commit repeated acts of public mass murder, terrorist violence, killing innocent people in hospitals and others.

Unlike others however, Warner Bros and DC Comics does not portray these characters as truly “evil” or “wrong,” and in fact, makes millions of dollars out of glamorizing these characters. Warner Bros and DC Comics mass merchandising of mass murder includes TOYS and COSTUMES of mass-murdering characters from their “Dark Knight” films, such as the “Dark Knight Joker” and the “Dark Knight Bane” characters.

Warner Bros and DC Comics is continuing to do this RIGHT NOW, TODAY, in the immediate aftermath of a mass-murder terrorist attack inspired by one of the characters that the WB/DC films have glamorized and mass-merchandised as TOYS for CHILDREN. This has to END.

We must DEMAND that Warner Bros / DC Comics stop its mass merchandising and profiteering from glamorizing of terrorism today.

We must DEMAND that Warner Bros / DC Comics discontinue all films, books, and media which glamorize public mass murder and terrorist acts.

We must also DEMAND that Warner Bros / DC Comics provide all of the profits raised from such mass-murder mass merchandising to the victims of those killed and injured, by the killers inspired by these characters in Colorado and in Belgium.

China: 120 Million Leave Chinese Communist Party (CCP) – Falun Gong Rally in DC

On July 13, 2012 in Washington D.C., practitioners of Falun Gong / Falun Dafa, China Democracy Party, human rights activists, and other supporters of freedom in China held a parade in the streets and led a rally at the Washington Monument.   At the rally, individuals who had renounced the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) spoke out about the abuses of the CCP and called for freedom for Falun Gong / Falun Dafa practitioners and for all people in China. The historic Tuidang (“Quit the Party”) freedom movement of the Chinese people has now led to 120 million people leaving the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)!

The July 13, 2012 rally was to praise the courage of those who have sought to support human rights, human dignity, and respect for the Falun Gong practitioners and all other people in China, and to call for an end to the human rights abuses against them by the CCP.   The courageous Tuidang movement has continued to encourage people in China, every year to abandon the CCP and to reject the CCP’s tyranny.

Speakers told of their oppression for being practitioners of Falun Gong, and their subsequent harassment, imprisonment, and torture in prison camps by the CCP.   The oppression of the Falun Gong continues daily, with families being divided, women beaten and tortured, and Falun Gong practitioners killed.  Speakers also told of the inhuman practice of organ harvesting of Falun Gong prisoners in CCP prisons.   The Falun Gong have been violently oppressed by the CCP since 1999 – for 13 years.  The CCP persecution on the Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999.

(Photos of the parade and the rally are on a Picasa web site.) See also the report on this event by the Sound of Hope (reporter Wu Wei), a report on the rally published in Chinese (see Google Translate service), a report on the rally published in Chinese by the Epoch Times, and the report on the parade by the Epoch Times.

July 13, 2012 - Washington Monument - in Washington DC where thousands gathered to protest
July 13, 2012 - Thousands of Falun Gong Members Rally for Freedom and Human Rights - Seeking Freedom from the Chinese Communist Party

Speakers told of their personal suffering and abuse in CCP-managed prison camps in China, with efforts by the CCP to seek to force them to renounce their support of the Falun Gong practice.

Speakers included: Chairman of the Overseas Democracy Coalition, Wei Jingsheng, the China Democratic Party Chairman Wang Jun, president of Democracy University Tang Baiqia, Dr. Dayong Li – Director of the Global Service Center for Quitting the Chinese Communist Party, Chung Ai Ting-pang (daughter of a Taiwainese Falun Gong practitioner arrested by the CCP), CCP prison camp survivor Chunmei Ma, and Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.)’s Jeffrey Imm.

Dr. Dayong Li, the Director of the Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP Service Center, stated: “Falun Gong has not only a symbol of the persecution of Chinese people, became a symbol of a symbol of hope for the future, justice, dignity, the great strength of the symbol.”  In our discussions with Dr. Dayong Li, he believes that China is on the verge of a historic sweeping change by people who will not tolerate the CCP’s continuing human rights abuses, attacks on human dignity, and denial of human freedom.

Chunmei Ma told her story of how, as a practitioner of the Falun Gong, she had been persecuted by the CCP.    She stated she “had been arrested four times, sentenced to forced labor camps twice, and had been through so many mental and physical tortures. I was almost killed.”   Chunmei Ma had gone to appeal to the Chinese government for constitutional rights for herself and the Falun Gong – and she was arrested in Tiananmen Square.  In November 1999, she was taken to a forced labor camp. There she was beaten and tortured with electronic batons and other forms of cruelty.  She described how the CCP used electronic batons as a form of “force tranformation” to get people to leave the Falun Gong, along with beatings, tied down to a “death bed,” forced drug administrations, and other cruel practices.  She reported how some prisoners vanished after torture, and how she suspected that some were murdered.   The CCP guards beat her mother who came to visit her in prison, and the CCP’s coercion and threats sought to divide her and her husband.  After being released from the forced labor camp, Chunmei Ma was continually oppressed by local CCP agents.  In October 2006, helped by the United Nations, she fled the People’s Republic of China (PRC), and became a refugee in the United States.   Chunmei Ma has also spoken of the abuse of the Falun Gong at other events.

July 13, 2012 - R.E.A.L.'s Jeffrey Imm Praises the Courage of Those Who Choose Freedom from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for the Falun Gong and the Chinese People

R.E.A.L.’s Jeffrey Imm also spoke at the rally, praising the courage of those who have left the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the Tuidang movement, while reminding the world we must continue to end the human rights abuses against the Falun Gong and the Chinese people.  He stated: “To the oppressed Falun Gong practitioners and to all of the oppressed people in China, my message to you is that you do not stand alone. Many people, ranging from human rights activists, U.S. Congressmen, international leaders, and people around the world stand with you today. We recognize and condemn the cruel practices against human rights and against human dignity that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has inflicted against the Falun Gong and the Chinese people. We have seen the endless human rights abuses of the CCP over the years. We have seen the rejection of freedom and human dignity by the CCP to the Falun Gong and the Chinese People. We know about the Laogai prison camps. We have seen the imprisonment of Falun Gong for refusing to renounce their spiritual practice. We have seen the arbitrary arrests, the persecution, the killing and torture of Chinese people by the CCP, with thousands of Falun Gong tortured to death. We have seen the many reports of criminal organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners who have been imprisoned by the CCP. We have seen Falun Gong practitioners abducted while trying to leave China. Most recently, we have seen the CCP’s “transformation” campaign to coerce Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their practice.”

He stated:  “We cannot and we MUST not accept the dictatorship of Communism in China to oppress our brothers and sisters in China. When 20 percent of the world’s population is under Communist dictatorship, this is not just the Chinese people’s problem; this is the world’s problem. We must send a message of compassion that we will not accept the CCP denying freedom and human rights to the Chinese people. We must send a message to the world that we will not accept the CCP denying freedom of conscience, human dignity, and human rights for the practitioners of the Falun Gong!  We must tell the world: Free China Now!”  Free the Practitioners of the Falun Gong!  (his complete remarks are at this PDF link, link to comments translated in Chinese, and at the end of this blog posting.  Jeffrey Imm has also spoken at previous Tuidang rallies. and Jeffrey Imm has led previous protests at the Chinese embassy in support for freedom and human rights.)

Speaking for Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.), Jeffrey Imm had the following statement: July 13, 2012 Falun Gong Event Remarks – Jeffrey Imm, Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.)

My name is Jeffrey Imm, and I am the founder of the human rights group, Responsible for Equality And Liberty. Our mission is to support the struggle for human rights and freedom for all people around the world. Thank you for inviting me to join this Falun Gong event to support freedom, human rights, and human dignity in China.

To the oppressed Falun Gong practitioners and to all of the oppressed people in China, my message to you is that you do not stand alone.

Most recently, we have seen the CCP’s “transformation” campaign to coerce Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their practice.

But in the midst of all this oppression, the Falun Gong practitioners have held fast to their beliefs, their support in human freedom, and their support for human dignity, and their support for Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. Their example has given courage to others who would reject the tyranny of the CCP, and who would seek freedom.

While we remember and condemn the tyranny of the CCP, we also must recognize the courage of those to publicly reject and renounce Communism and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). We must thank the courageous men and women who work daily in the Tuidang movement to seek spread the word about the hope of freedom to others in China, and who give courage to people to Quit the Chinese Communist Party! They have had such great success and we thank them for their leadership. As of today, nearly 120 million Chinese people have left the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)! This is a great achievement and a great day for the Chinese people and for the world!

For the past 23 years, one of my great concerns is freedom and human rights for the people of China. In 1989, when the CCP ordered the massacre of innocent Chinese people in Tiananmen Square, I want you to know how the people in Washington D.C. responded. People stopped everything. In the office buildings all around this city, people walked out of their office and started marching up Connecticut Avenue to protest at the old Chinese embassy. The protesters were diverse people: young and old, men and women, and people of every race and religion. They loved freedom and they wanted the Chinese people to be free.

In the continuing struggle against the tyranny of the CCP, I want you to know that the American people still deeply care about the freedom and human rights of the Falun Gong and all of the Chinese people. America has fought Communism around the world. My brother went to war to fight the Communist Party. I work with people across our nation to help educate people on how the Chinese people are rejecting Communism again today. Every day a Chinese citizen rejects the CCP is a great day for the Chinese people and the world.

Americans care for the Chinese people and all people oppressed by Communism. Americans care because we know how important it is to be free. It is great to have freedom. We want freedom for all of our brothers and sisters in humanity, especially the Chinese people. We are so proud of the 120 million Chinese people who have rejected the CCP and found the courage to seek their freedom and human rights!

A week ago, Americans across the country celebrated the national Independence Day, and celebrated our freedom. But what we really want now is to celebrate the Chinese people’s freedom, and celebrate the Chinese nation’s independence from the CCP! We want freedom and independence for the Falun Gong! In China, we want every day to be a new Independence Day for the Chinese people, as one person after another demonstrates their courage to reject the tyranny of the CCP.

Like you, I also speak to the Chinese people visiting here in the United States about the CCP. At American universities, I have met with other Chinese students who are studying in America. Some Chinese students have told me that they support Communism and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). They have told me that I am wrong to criticize the CCP. I ask them questions to help them free their minds.

So I ask them if they support human rights, women’s equality, justice, human dignity, and courage. They tell me that they do. Then I tell them about CCP’s abuses in human rights. I tell them about how the CCP has demanded forced abortions and mistreatment of women. I tell them about the CCP’s Laogai prison camps. I tell them about the selling of body parts of prisoners. I tell them about the courage I have seen of Chinese students standing up against soldiers and tanks, when the CCP leaders told the soldiers to attack the Chinese people in Tiananmen Square. I tell them if they are true to their beliefs, then they cannot support the CCP. This makes them stop and think about the propaganda the CCP has told them.

We cannot and we MUST not accept the dictatorship of Communism in China to oppress our brothers and sisters in China.

We must tell the world:
— FREE CHINA NOW!
— FREE THE PRACTITIONERS OF THE FALUN GONG!

Thank you for your time.

Every day is a good day to be Responsible for Equality and Liberty for all of our fellow human beings.

Afghanistan: Public Murder of Woman by Taliban

In Afghanistan,  the Taliban have reportedly publicly murdered a 22-year old woman Najiba, who was gunned down in the streets while in her burqua.  Media reported that the woman was surrounded by 100 Taliban men who cheered when the helpless woman was gunned down in the street.

This is yet another disgrace against women’s human rights and dignity, with this latest atrocity by the Taliban committed on June 23 village of Qimchaq (Qimchok), in Parwan province’s Shinwari district in Eastern Afghanistan, just an hour’s drive from the Afghanistan capital of Kabul.

In the video, the Taliban extremists can be heard chanting “Allahu Ahkbar,” (God is Great) during the shooting, as also reported by CNN.  Their actions and words disgrace peaceful Muslims respecting human rights around the world.

Afghanistan Woman Najiba Publicly Murdered by Taliban in Qimchaq Village - A Disgrace to Human Rights and Dignity Everywhere

The Los Angeles Times reported that a video of the Taliban murder showed “a woman in a white shawl kneeling in the dirt. Crouching in terror, she could not speak even a word in her own defense. She then crumples after apparently being shot dead at close range by a gunman before a crowd of more than 100 shouting men arrayed on a dusty terraced hillside.”

CNN reported that the defenseless woman was shot more than 9 times by the cowardly Taliban murderers.   CNN also reported that the woman was murdered because of dispute over her between two rival Taliban gang leaders.   CNN reported that after the Taliban murder, the killers concocted a story of crimes of “adultery” to rationalize their public murder.  In the CNN report, the Parwan province governor Abdul Basir Salangi was quoted:  “In order to save face,” they accused her of adultery, Salangi said. Then they “faked a court to decide about the fate of this woman and in one hour, they executed the woman..”

This is another in the many instances of the World War on Women.   In this case, the oppressors of women are the Taliban extremists and their ideological acceptance of hate and violence to rationalize their actions.  The Taliban have a long history of their organized and institutional War on Women. Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) urges all Afghan people, all Muslim believers, and all human beings around the world to renounce the cruel and violent ideology and activity of the Taliban.

The amateur video was loaded onto YouTube.  It is, and photos of such abuse, are disturbing and revolting to all decent human beings.  But for those who think the Taliban is simply a different cultural group, it is important for them to see the abuses that the Taliban perform:

R.E.A.L. has reported many times on the human rights abuses and criminal violence of the Taliban – especially its violence and oppression against women:
Afghanistan: Pregnant Woman Whipped, Murdered by Taliban
Afghan women live in fear
Afghanistan: Taliban Stone Young Couple to Death
Afghanistan: Aid Workers Murdered – Taliban Claims Responsibility

In addition, R.E.A.L. continues to caution the American government, its leaders, and other world leaders regarding the fallacy of negotiations with a Taliban organization that rejects and renounces our Universal Human Rights for all people, and that has continued a ceaseless campaign of deliberate and methodical violence and terrorism against fellow Afghani citizens, Muslims, and other fellow human beings.  This is a women’s rights issue and a human rights issue.

R.E.A.L.' s Jeffrey Imm Outside White House in Washington DC Protesting Calls for Taliban Reconciliation, Concern for Impact on Women's Rights

R.E.A.L. will continue to protest any support or negotiations with Taliban war criminals who seek to regain power in Afghanistan and to further return Afghanistan to a nation of fear and oppression for women, children, and all of Afghanistan’s citizens.

President Obama: Afghanistan Women's Rights Matter

We urge members of the Taliban to renounce their ways, renounce their ideology of hate and violence, and to accept Universal Human Rights and Dignity for all people.

We urge the Taliban to Choose Love, Not Hate.
