Mosque Protests: Christian Leader Calls for No More Mosques in USA

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) supports our universal human rights of freedom of religion, freedom of conscience, and freedom of worship for ALL people — without exception.  We reject protests against houses of worship.   We reject violence and attacks on houses of worship, and the continuing coast-to-coast protests against mosques around America today.

Christian Conservative leader Bryan Fischer, with the American Family Association (AFA), is calling for an end to all new mosques in the United States of America.

AFA's Bryan Fischer: "No More Mosques, Period" "permits should not be granted to build one more mosque in America, not one."

At the AFA website, Bryan Fischer has an article “No more mosques, period,” which states that “Permits should not be granted to build even one more mosque in the United States of America.”

Bryan Fischer has made the same appeal to deny mosques in America on his radio program and on YouTube, stating that “permits should not be granted to build one more mosque in America, not one.”

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), “The AFA’s founder, the Rev. Don Wildmon, has made dozens of highly controversial statements, including the claim that ‘anti-Christian’ material on TV is a result of the media being largely controlled by Jews who work to undermine Christianity.”

CBS News reports that: “Fischer is the AFA’s director of Issue Analysis for Government and Public Policy. The AFA is a conservative Christian group that been in the news before for taking a number of extreme positions — for instance, earlier this year Fischer called for Tilikum, the SeaWorld orca that thrashed its trainer to death, to be killed according to Biblical rules. In 2005, the AFA finally ended its boycott of Disney, which it kept of for nine years to protest the company’s erosion of moral values. The AFA operates nearly 200 radio stations across the country under the American Family Radio banner and sometimes features congressmen on its shows. Reps. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.), for instance, were recent guests of one show. Fischer is listed as an invited speaker at the Values Voter Summit next month, along with Rep. Michele Bachmann, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, among others.”

The Values Voter Summit is scheduled for Friday through Sunday on September 17 through the 19 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC.  In addition to the AFA, it is co-sponsored by the Family Research Council, American Values, the Heritage Foundation, Liberty University, and The O’Leary Report.  Conservative commentators Lou Dobbs, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Michelle Malkin, Laura Inghram, Sarah Palin, as well as representatives from the Wall Street Journal and the Tea Party Express will be in attendance.

International Business Times also reports about the Values Voter Summit that “Three of the scheduled speakers are current elected U.S. lawmakers – Sen. Jim DeMint, R-SC, Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-MN and Rep. Mike Pence, R-IN – each of whom has taken an oath to uphold and defend the U.S. Constitution, which includes upholding the First Amendment protections to religion, the same protections Fischer would deny to Muslims. None of the three lawmakers responded to inquiries asking specifically if they knew Fischer was a scheduled speaker, if they knew of his views on mosques and Muslims, if they supported his views, or if they thought they were legitimizing his views by appearing at the same event with Fischer.”

Responsible for Equality and Liberty (R.E.A.L.) is deeply concerned about the escalation of intolerance and hate that we seeing growing across America towards Muslims and Islamic mosques.  We will be announcing plans to hold a freedom of religion, freedom of worship, and freedom of conscience event on September 11 at 2 PM in Freedom Plaza in Washington DC to give Americans an opportunity to publicly show their support for such freedoms.  We will have more information in a few days at 911Freedom.com.

Pakistan Christians Protest “Black Day” Treatment of Minorities at UN

The Pakistan Christian Congress and other Pakistan human rights activists protested in front of the United Nations Offices in New York City on August 12, 2010 to address the plight of Pakistani Christians as an oppressed minority.  Their protest was in recognition of “Minority Day” which was renamed “Black Day” in remembrance of the oppression and atrocities against Pakistani Christians.  The protesters also provided copies of petitions to the United Nations delegates calling for UN Secretary General Ban Moon to repeal award refugee status to Pakistani Christians and to urge the Pakistani government to repeal the blasphemy law.

On August 2, 2010 in Washington DC, the Pakistan Christian Congress’ Dr. Nazir Bhatti and speakers from Christian, Muslim, and human rights organizations spoke on the plight of the Christians and religious minorities in Pakistan.  The August 2 press conference was a remembrance of the August 1, 2009 Gojra mob attacks against Christian men, women, and children, burning people alive, and burning Christian houses and churches to the ground.

On the August 12 NYC United Nations protest, the Pakistan Christian Post reported that:

“Pakistani Christian invite intervention of United Nations to end their constitutional genocide

New York: August 12, 2010. (PCP) The Pakistani Christian Diaspora in USA staged protest in front of United Nation Offices to observe “Black Day” on killing of Christians and to mark 1st anniversary of Gojra massacre
The protest of “Black Day” was organized by Pakistani Christian Association in North America PCA, Pakistan Christian Congress PCC and The Peace Worldwide which was attended by congregates of different denominations of Pakistani Churches.

The protestors hoisted cards with slogans to end persecution and killing of Christians in Pakistan. The copies of petition were also distributed among different UN delegates to highlight plight of Christians in Pakistan.

The petition to Mr. Ban Ki Moon, Secretary General of United Nation sought intervention of United Nations to end killing of Christians and to press upon government of Pakistan to repeal blasphemy law.

The petition also appealed to Secretary General of United Nations to award Refugee Status to Pakistani Christians on continuous constitutional genocide.

At the end of protest, Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC and Mr. James Cyprian went in UNO building and presented petition to officer of Secretary General office.

Here is copy of petition submitted to UNO:

Mr. Ban Ki Moon,

Secretary General, United Nations

New York.

20 million Pakistani Christians observed “Black Day” instead of Minority Day by government of Pakistan on August 11, to demand repeal of blasphemy law and to end killing of Christians.

His Excellency,

We wish to draw your kind attention on rising violence against Christians on pretext to blasphemy law, enforced conversion, kidnap and gang rape of Christian women, vandalism of Churches, desecration of Holy Bibles, attacks on homes of Christians, killing of innocent Christians and destruction of Christian properties in Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The government of Pakistan have failed to ensure justice and to protect life and property of Christian citizens where fundamental Muslims attack and destroy homes of Christians under supervision of administration and walk free after killing them.

On July 31, 2009, thousands of Muslims attacked Gojra Town Christians colony setting on fire more than fifty homes and burning alive 7 Christian children and women in presence of local police but culprit are free mocking justice system of Pakistan. The Muslim mobs attack and destruction of hundreds of homes in village Korian and Bahminwala in Punjab province of Pakistan where culprits have been also protected and saved by administration to walk unpunished.

The arrests of Christians under blasphemy law have been doubled in present regime and incident of killing of Two Christian Brothers on July 19, 2010, in broad day light in District Courts of Faisalabad during hearing in blasphemy case is total failure of administration to protect life of Christians in Pakistan.

20 million Pakistani Christian have no voice in democratic institutions of Pakistan when Islamic parties are selecting their representation on reserved seats for minorities in parliament and using them as tool to mislead international community on situation of Christians in Pakistan. We have been deprived of our right to elect our representatives and turned to be second class citizens in Pakistan. Therefore, Pakistani Christians demand right of election of their representative proportional to population in parliament instead of selection by Muslim groups.

We appeal your honor to press upon government of Pakistan to repeal blasphemy law and to adopt necessary measures to protect life and property of Christians in Pakistan.

The thousands of Christians from Punjab province are fleeing to other cities on incidents of violence and arrests under blasphemy have forced them to take refuge in safe places. We also appeal your honor to award Refugee Status to Pakistani Christians that they may take refuge in other countries when they do not have equal basic democratic rights in Pakistan and treated as second class citizen.

Thanking you.

Washington State: Spokane Valley Synagogue Defaced with Swastika

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) supports our universal human rights of freedom of religion, freedom of conscience, and freedom of worship for all people.

On August 8, 2010, the Kehilat HaMashiach Synagogue in Spokane Valley, Washington state was defaced outside when someone painted a red Nazi swastika on their outdoor sign. The Kehilat HaMashiach Synagogue is a Messianic Jewish congregation.

KXLY reports that “In Spokane Valley the Kehilat HaMashiach Synagogue was vandalized Sunday when someone smeared their sign with a red swastika. Four days later a white cloth covers the symbol but the congregation of the synagogue know all too well the meaning behind the symbol. They says they want to bring attention to this because they want people to know this type of hatred is still going on in our community.”

NWCN News reports: “The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office knows about the crime, but say there was no discernible evidence left at the scene.”

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) urges those with any information on the crime to contact the Sheriff’s office at (509) 477-2240.

Tennessee: Mosque Protester Attacks Falun Gong

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) supports our universal human rights of freedom of religion, freedom of conscience, and freedom of worship for ALL people — without exception.

In Murfreesboro, Tennessee, anti-mosque protester Kevin Fisher has joined with others in seeking to deny an expansion of an existing house of worship by the Murfreesboro Islamic Center, as Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) has previously reported.

Anti-mosque protest leader Kevin Fisher was one of 20 speakers and a primary organizer of the anti-mosque protest event. Kevin Fisher is a former candidate for the local school board and the state legislature, according to APB.

Kevin Fisher has also expressed his opposition to other belief and spiritual systems, including the Falun Dafa / Falun Gong, who have been oppressed by the Communist Chinese party for 11 years, and which in March 2010 received a U.S. Congressional resolution opposing their oppression in the Communist nation.  Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline consisting of moral principles and slow-motion physical exercises, has been persecuted in Communist China since 1999.

R.E.A.L. has regularly reported on the brutal and violent oppression by the Communist Chinese government against Falun Dafa / Falun Gong practitioners, as also attested to by the United States Congress and repeatedly by global human rights organizations. One does not have to be a practitioner or believer of Falun Dafa to stand behind our Universal Human Rights for all people – everywhere.  There is no “right wing” or “left wing” side of supporting basic human rights for all, and opposing concentration camps.

According to the Daily News Journal (DNJ), protest leader and politician Kevin Fisher stated that his opposition to the Murfreesboro, Tennessee mosque was comparable to his opposition to the Falun Gong, oppressed in Communist ChinaKevin Fisher told the Daily News Journal that “We wouldn’t want Falun Gong building out there. We wouldn’t want any kind of extremist entity in that area.”

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) contacted Kevin Fisher to get an explanation on his opposition to the Falun Gong.

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) Asks Kevin Fisher Why He Seeks to Deny Freedoms to Falun Gong in America

We have never received a reply from Kevin Fisher on his opposition to the Falun Gong.

Just a few days before anti-mosque campaigner Kevin Fisher’s comments to the Daily News Journal against the Falun Dafa / Gong, thousands of its practitioners had gathered together in Washington DC to remember the oppression, torture, brutality, and murder of its supporters in the Communist People’s Republic of China.

We ask those in support of the anti-mosque campaigns if this is the direction that they want to take America, to openly seek to deny our Constitutional and Universal Human Rights for all Americans and all human beings, and to follow a course to openly seek to deny freedom of conscience to others, as the Communist People’s Republic of China has done.

In January 2010, R.E.A.L. attended a news conference at the National Press Club in Washington DC, where Shen Yun performers and Falun Dafa practitioners were shocked that Hong Kong had blocked one of their performances, based on perceived influence against their freedom of expression and conscience by the Communist People’s Republic of China.

Leeshai Lemish Speaks at Shen Yun Press Conference
January 2010: Falun Gong Practitioner Leeshai Lemish Asks Americans to Stand Up for Human Freedoms at Shen Yun Press Conference, Condemning Communist Influence to Block Hong Kong Freedom of Conscience and Expression

But now we see Americans who are leading anti-mosque campaigns that share the same perspective of a totalitarian nation such as Communist China to seek to deny freedom of conscience in America.

Americans can and must do better.

Americans can and must collectively become Responsible for Equality And Liberty.

Choose Love, Not Hate – Love Wins.
