Washington State: Spokane Valley Synagogue Defaced with Swastika

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) supports our universal human rights of freedom of religion, freedom of conscience, and freedom of worship for all people.

On August 8, 2010, the Kehilat HaMashiach Synagogue in Spokane Valley, Washington state was defaced outside when someone painted a red Nazi swastika on their outdoor sign. The Kehilat HaMashiach Synagogue is a Messianic Jewish congregation.

KXLY reports that “In Spokane Valley the Kehilat HaMashiach Synagogue was vandalized Sunday when someone smeared their sign with a red swastika. Four days later a white cloth covers the symbol but the congregation of the synagogue know all too well the meaning behind the symbol. They says they want to bring attention to this because they want people to know this type of hatred is still going on in our community.”

NWCN News reports: “The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office knows about the crime, but say there was no discernible evidence left at the scene.”

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) urges those with any information on the crime to contact the Sheriff’s office at (509) 477-2240.
