Wall Street Journal Allows Comments Calling for Terror Attack on Mosque

On July 24, 2010, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) Washington Wire published an article “Political Wisdom: The Mosque at Ground Zero,” about the NYC mosque at 45-51 Park Place.  We note that the Park Place mosque is not “at ground zero,” and has had prayer services since December 2009.   The Wall Street Journal Washington Wire is led by Susan Davis, a former reporter with the Capitol Hill Roll Call.  The WSJ Washington Wire claims to moderate user comments based on community rules that object that reject postings “that may be hateful or offensive, “ and it gives an email address to report such comments at washwire@wsj.com as well as a moderator at  moderator@wsj.com

But when it comes to readers publicly calling for a terrorist attack on a Muslim mosque on the Wall Street Journal web site, apparently that is not a major concern for the Wall Street Journal or the WSJ Wire. This is yet another in a series of instances where the U.S. mainstream media is failing to reject those who call for bombings or terrorist attacks on Muslim mosques on newspapers websites and over AM radio.

On the Wall Street Journal Washington Wire, among various hate-filled comments is a direct call for the use of a plane to have a terrorist attack on a New York City mosque – you can see the date of screen shot is July 27 – three days after the July 24 comment:

Responsible for Equality And Liberty (R.E.A.L.) contacted the WSJ Washington Wire as well as Wall Street Journal Moderator on July 24 – the same day the comments were made.  However, the WSJ has not found it a sufficient priority to act on reader comments that call for the use of a plane to have a terrorist attack on a New York City mosque.  We urge readers to contact the Wall Street Journal and share your concerns about this.

What is America coming to that such hate and calls for terrorist violence are openly tolerated in reader comments in the mainstream U.S. media?

R.E.A.L. noted that the New York Post still has bomb threats against a NYC mosque on its web site, since May 24, 2010, despite repeated contacts to the New York Post.  There again, the New York Post has taken no action.

Is this the America that we will allow our nation to become?  Where our news media is used by those calling for violence against houses of worship in America?

=======================================

Responsible for Equality and Liberty (R.E.A.L.) supports our universal human rights to freedom of religion, freedom of worship, and freedom of conscience for all people of all faiths.  Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that “Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.”

We urge those who promote hate, intolerance, and violence, to unburden the hate from their hearts.

We urge all to Choose Love, Not Hate.  Love Wins.
