Albania: Muslim Community Group Seeks Legal Action against Kastriot Myftaraj

AP reports on the Albanian Muslim Community group efforts to sue journalist Kastriot Myftaraj comments in Tirana-based Sot (Today) daily newspaper for criticizing Islam.

In the AP report, the Albanian Muslim Community group reportedly seeks to “sue” Kastriot Myftaraj for stating that Albania should “outlaw the Muslim religion in Albania and close down all mosques.”

At the Albanian Muslim Community group, however, the web site there actually states that group seeks criminal charges against Kastriot Myftaraj under Article 266 and 267 of Albanian criminal code.  AP reports that two-thirds of Albania’s population is Muslim.  The Albanian Muslim Community group seeks criminal action against Kastriot Myftaraj for his articles on Sot “Moscow’s Red Star and the Cape of Mecca” and “A formula for measuring the degree of threat of Islamic terrorism in Albania and Kosovo.”

Kastriot Myftara’s writings are not limited to Muslims, and he has also written his views on Jews in Albania, and he has appeared on television broadcasts on his views on Masons.
