While much of the nation will be recognizing Martin Luther King Jr., Day on Monday January 18, 2010, the white supremacist Stormfront organization plans to hold a birthday party for Confederate general Robert E. Lee in Southern Florida, according to the Anti-Defamation League.

Robert E. Lee, who is referenced by the acronym “REL” by white supremacist groups in their event planning postings, was born on January 19, 1807.

The Stormfront organization planning the Robert E. Lee event has members who have recently been eulogizing the death of white supremacist terrorist James Von Brunn as a “martyr,” and urging use Von Brunn as an example for action of their own.  Witnesses at the DC Holocaust Memorial Museum Attack stated that Von Brunn was wearing a Confederate soldier’s cap and long coat at the time of the attacks.

The leader of the Stormfront organization, Stephen “Don” Black, has been an attendee at previous white nationalist” American Renaissance conferences.  American Renaissance has scheduled an event from February 19 through the 20th in the Washington DC suburb of Herndon, Virginia near the Dulles International Airport.

The states of Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Arkansas continue to hold official recognition of Robert E. Lee’s birthday as an official state holiday.
